Beautifully visible fiberglass"hairs" which stand out beautifully on the seafoam shell. Looks amazing under any light-natural or indoor. Exhibits signs of typical. But minimal, wear, but in amazing shape for being 60 years old. Given the marking on the bottom as well as the original X-base. This is very likely a Zenith production and possibly a prototype marked"AX" stands for A rmshell X- four leg base) which makes it doubly rare. Per an Eames collector, but we leave it to the buyer to make their own determination. The only notable flaw we detect is a tiny chip on the left arm underside/back which isn't really noticeable unless you look closely on the left/back. Vintage 1979 Eames Lounge Chair by Herman Miller #1
Vintage 1979 Herman Miller Eames lounge chair. Classic black leather on rosewood. The wood portion of the chair has no cracks or large scratches though it does have small dings and wear along the exposed edges. The leather cushions are still soft and have no holes, tears, or significant wear, even on the armrests. The metal base has all five original"Insulated Domes of Silence" and lots of wear marks along the edges of the black coating. The chair twirls around nicely. I have not opened the cushions but they have held their shape very well and don't have that squished, deflated look that happens to old couches. However, the plastic/vinyl bottom of the seat cushion has a crack at one corner. I unartfully repaired it with tape to protect the cushion when I slid it back onto the clips on the wood shell but I'm sure someone ... morewho knows what they are doing can easily patch it using the proper materials. The chair is one of two originally purchased in 1979 by my father. Alas the sales papers are long gone but it was from an Herman Miller/Eames furniture dealer in Southern California. This chair was in his home office and rarely used which is why it is in such nice condition. I am also auctioning off the one he had at his work office which is very nice but has more signs of use. Super Rare Eames Evans Herman Miller 1940's LCW Slunk Skin / Pony Lounge Chair
Listed for sale is an all original Eames LCW by Evans lounge chair in excellent condition with an extremely rare and original slunk skin cover. The chair is all original. With shock mounts that have been replaced during its life. The chair has acquired a beautiful patina and retains the original finish. The finish itself has held up well, with clear signs of use, but no chips or notable damage. Only minor scratches are evident. In terms of hardware, the chair has the Evans 5-2-5 setup as well as the original writing from Evans seen on the underside of the chair. The screws show no signs of being tampered with and seem to be all original. The screws all have patina as is appropriate and are not at all loose. If interested in other modern designs. It is in phenomenal condition for its age with original charcoal naugahyde and black enameled arms in perfect condition. The chair and ottoman are an original matching pair that are in the most iconic upholstered configuration with the charcoal naugahyde and black arms. It is also the taller, tilt/swivel version of this chair. Its mechanism still functions perfectly and shows no cracks or separations in the aluminum. The naugahyde shows little to no wear, aside from the front sides, which simply appear to be worm slightly more heavily. It has the original herman miller stamp imbedded within the aluminum seat bracket and reads"Patent ... morePending. This pair came from the office of a department head at Harvard University. The pair lived in the university office of this individual. If desired. This pair can be sent with provenance from the family that owned the set. This chair, circa 1989, is being sold by the original owner(still has Herman Miller label) and was in use in a corporate library or in storage so it is in excellent, almost new condition. The rosewood shell(now classified as endangered and no longer available in newer models) has one minute chip(see photo) and the black leather has no signs of wear. Tears, or punctures. For auction is this remarkable example of a Herman Miller Eames DKR chair! The chic wire chair comes with the original orange upholstered bikini seat cushions stating that they were made by Herman Miller Furniture Company at heir Washington Blvd location in Venice. California, and the iconic Eiffel tower stand. This is an early example, probably circa 1952. This is structurally in great condition with no broken welds. Does have some rust and paint chipping. Just needs a fresh coat of paint and would look amazing! The seat back bikini cover has the stitching which came undone as shown in the pictures. Also, there is a bolt missing from where the base is connected to the seat. There is a circular indent in the seat cushion and the under side has water marks.
