These are a great Mid-Century Modern. Replica, club/ barrel tub c hairs with fantastic lines and style. The rounded shape. Corners and low profile make it cool and ideal for lounging. Original light green with golden tones velveteen upholstery. The wood around the base of the chair is in good to great condition. All buttons are intact. Total Luxe and terrific vintage 1960s era pair of low-rise tub or barrel lounge chairs with powder blue raw silk upholstery and deep button tufted backs. So well crafted that even the seat bottoms under the cushions are tufted! They are unmarked and in the manner of the fine tub chairs of Milo Baughman at Thayer Coggin. Monteverdi Young, and others. The fabric appears to be a raw silk and it is in excellent condition with no stains but typical surface dust so I recommend professional cleaning to protect the fabric. Solid and mechanically sound with cushions being firm with no sagging. Pretty pastel ikat pattern on cushions with a tufted backside and the frame is a light grayish blue in color. Seat cushion is removable and has a zipper. I believe the material to be a part silk and linen or possibly 100% silk but am uncertain. Wooden base needs refinished. Good solid vintage condition. Chair must have been near a window as the upholstery is faded- see the last picture I have of the chair(in middle) with two other matching chairs that are unfaded(listed in separate auction) One very small tear on the front side of base just under the seat cushion. Los Angeles, CA in the 1980s I believe(see tag) I suspect the fabric on the exterior of the chair is original. I recently acquired this chair from the estate of the original owner(90+ years old) From a clean. Pet-free, smoke-free home. CONDITION: This chair exhibits typical use-related ... morewear. No signs of abuse. This chair would be stunning with competent professional refurbishing(reupholstery and base refinish) BASE: There is use-related wear to the base: typical. Scattered rubs, dings and scratches as well as significant wear to the front bottom edge. The base was refinished at some point long ago. Otherwise the base is in good condition with no damages and no other significant wear. No other apparent restorations. No other significant edge wear. No chips. Cracks, breaks. A competent professional furniture refinisher should be able to make the base look like new. UPHOLSTERY/ FRAME: This chair was reupholstered at some point long ago. The fabric on the back of the chair may be original. Although the upholstery is generally in good condition I assume you will want to have the chair reupholstered. Some light soiling to the upper back rest. Otherwise the upholstery is generally clean as found. No other soiling and no stains or discolorations. No pet. Cigarette or other unpleasant odors.
