Up for auction is a vintage Art Metal Construction Company of Jamestown. NY"Correct Seating" Propeller Base Swivel Chair. It is marked May 1956. It still has original green perforated vinyl upholstery with no rips or tears. It's made of aluminum and steel. Measurements are as follows: Seat height-19" Base is 24" across, overall height is 34" and seat is 15.5" x 18" The Art Metal Co. was purchased by Knoll later on, making this a sought after Atomic Age/Industrial Collectible. Base is fully functional and operate as it should. It appears that one screw has been replaced on back of chair, other than that, everything appears to be original. This is a vintage funky. Retro propeller office chair made by Good Form probably in the 50's and made in Youngstown Ohio. Covered in a wild fabric not sure if it is original to the chair but it looks like it belongs on it. Called a propeller chair for obvious reasons in looks to be made of aluminum and it has casters on all four legs. The seat is 19" from the floor to the top edge and the chair swivels all the way around. I will probably need to separate the leg section from the seat portion to save on shipping. Still a heavy chair I am estimating it to cost $30 to ship close to Ohio and it will be more to go to the West Coast and SW States. I will work with you as long as you are willing to work with me. This is a very cool industrial desk chair by the Sturgis Posture Chair Company. It's in good original condition with wear shown in photos. Everything works as it should. The chair swivels and tilts with tilt adjustment. The backrest can be moved up and down. The chairs reclining angle can be changed via a knob under the chair. And the seat height is adjustable. The vinyl does have splits at the front corners, but the seat and backrest are in good shape. Seat is inner sprung and is very comfy. Has an awesome light green fiberglass propeller base with heavy visible fibers. There are some knicks in the wheels but the chair rolls very smoothly, there are no flat spots. Base and backrest will be removed for cheaper safer shipping. Shipping via Fedex Ground within the US only.

Five Burke Chair Propeller Base Swivel Chairs, America, post-1950 model #116
These five chairs are based on the Eames Shell Chair. Also referred to as Saarinen Style. These five chairs have a swivel base. The foam seat cushion has been replaced and is ready for the fabric cover to be designed and installed. There is a sixth chair and base which I will give to the buyer. I do this because the cast aluminum swivel mechanism broke and was apparently discarded. If you are able to find a new swivel mechanism. Then you have a sixth chair for nothing. Otherwise, you might be able to attach the base to the Fiberglas shell without being able to swivel it. The chairs are available for pick-up in the Chicago area. We can negotiate the cost of shipping the chairs elsewhere.

This listing is for the third of the three chairs. Which we have labeled#3. We will list three total. This one has a small hole in the vinyl seat. And a small crack along one edge of the seat, which can possibly be touched up with a new coat of paint. Each of them has a slight bit of paint wear on the top edges, which could use a new coat of paint. They all swivel freely, are structurally sound, and are clean and odor free. The paint on the metal propellor feet is chipped, see photo. We found them stored in a Midwest garage. And when you tilt the chairs, you can see prairie dust seep out from under the vinyl, faux leather seat cushion. Hopefully, I've released it all, but can't guarantee that more dust won't fly out during the shipping process. Each chair must be shipped separately because of their size and weight.
