DESCRIPTION: Exceptional and rare set of eleven Thonet stacking conference lounge or dining chairs. Possibly designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini. Use 10 and one as a chair as parts. Reminiscent of George Nelson"Aluminum Group" designs. These chrome finish frames are accented with aluminum back bracing(magnet sticks to chrome section but does not stick to aluminum section) The arm wood insets look like maple. The chairs stack. The back rest is attached only at the arms offering a minimalist and sexy sculptural quality. These chairs are very solid and sturdy. At first, I thought the upholstery was vinyl. Upon closer inspection the quality and finish were so good that I took a seat off the frame and uncovered the back of the"fabric" last photo) which shows the suede graining on the back of the leather seats. Chairs have Thonet ... morelabels. I'd guess these are 1980's era. CONDITION: Very well constructed. Heavy and sturdy. One chair missing one foot pad. One seat back has green paint splatters.
