These are a spectacular and rare solid brass accented Chippendale pair of chairs with solid rattan bamboo wood ornate frame. What is highly unusual and rare and very beautiful are the silvered solid brass accents for the ball and claw feet. The hands of the arms, and the back splat and crown as well. The upholstery is very complimentary and keeping with the bamboo design are tropical jungle type leaf motif with hints of blues, greens, and browns all somewhat silvery ... moreas well to accent the silvered brass features. The chairs are very comfortable with a nice cushiony firm support in the seat, without the cushions being worn out. Each chair measures 44 inches tall by 25 inches widest width by 20 inches deepest seat depth. The top of the cushion is about 20 inches from the floor. Each chair weighs a substantial 21 pounds by itself without any packing materials or 42 pounds for the both of them combined by themselves. Here's what I stated about these gorgeous chair's condition: Very good used condition. Solidly built heavy chairs with solid brass arm. Splat, and ball and claw feet accents. Nothing broken chipped or cracked and able to withstand a substantial amount of weight. No odors and still very good support and comfort from cushions. Traditional Post 1950s Captain's dining chairs from Bernhardt Furniture in Chippendale style Take a look at the beautiful shape of these four captain's dining chairs. They were made by Bernhardt Furniture in NC in a traditional Chippendale style with pierced-splat backs. Cabriole legs and ball and claw feet. I'm not sure about the wood but probably cherry or oak as these were manufactured after mid-century. We use this set frequently so there's a fair amount of wear on the wood and the seats need replacing and reupholstering. Since the room gets a lot of sun there's some fading of the wood and original fabric that you can see from the pictures. This set could be restored to it's former beauty by someone who appreciates design. Bernhardt is known for their quality furniture and this set will give someone many years ... moreof pleasure to come. They are done from solid mahogany with detailed hand carving on the back rests and legs. While we only have the pair, they would make a wonderful addition to an existing set. They could also be used in other areas of the home to provide beautiful seating options. I think they would look especially good with a table and lamp between them ... moreor on either side of a low chest of drawers. Both the ball and claw legs and the balloon shaped back rests exhibit characteristics of antique Victorian period dining chairs. As you will see in the pictures. The back rests have some intricate carved floral details. Obviously a good bit of work has gone into their creation. The same can be said about the ball and claw foot front legs which exhibit coordinating carvings. Solid mahogany is the wood used to craft this pair. They have been finished a lovely. Light color. Both seat cushions pop out for easy cleaning and recovering. The current fabric is a clean shade of white. The shape of the seats are also unique and comfortable. Being brand new this pair of chairs is in excellent condition and would make a lovely addition to any home! The seat height is 20″ The ball and claw front legs are exquisite. This small carving is done on the front of the chairs. Here you can see the seat cushions easily come out. The white fabric on the chairs looks good but can easily be replaced.
