You'd say"Fauteuil" They were probably manufactured after the second world war, and are made of solid walnut. The upholstery is fairly new, clean and no pet or smoking odors. The seats have springs are nicely firm. The backs have a slight"crunch" to them, which makes me think they have horsehair in there somewhere. Nice old school materials. The pieces have all the curves and cabriolets of this particular style, and have bits of floral-motif hand carving on the crest, the knees of the front legs, and the center of the skirt. They are solid and sturdy- I can see one joint that looks like it may have been re-glued. There are no repaired splits. There are two odd circular pits in the back of one of the legs- very shallow, and the size of a collar button. Other than that, magnifique! Shipping is FREE in the USA. They will be shipped via the Greyhound Bus Lines and items can get there in as little as a few days. Old set of four French Louis XV caned arm chairs
Beautiful set of French armchairs(4) with cane back. The seats of these chairs originally were caned seats. But most tore threw on edge. There is a nice wood cut out placed on top of each chair to make it sturdy. The cane bottom is still underneath if you would be interested in repairing it. There are pillows/seat cushions that can be used with them, but I personally was thinking of upolstering the seat(on the removeable wood piece)

Vintage Pair French Carved Louis XVI Fauteuil Arm Chairs In Floral Needlepoint
Vintage French Louis XVI Fauteuil Arm Chairs These 2 French Louis Fauteuil Arm Chairs are upholstered in gorgeous floral needlepoint. They are absolutely stunning. I'm not sure how old the needlepoint work is. But it's in excellent condition. It's bright and colorful! The very back is upholstered in a green teal velvet. These chairs came from a gorgeous estate in Paradise Valley, AZ. Unfortunately, they were close to a bay window and it seems to have discolored the velvet back of 1(one) of the chairs as noted in the pictures. Additionally, I noticed that in the needlepoint(you have to look very close) there seems to a a slight run in the back seat of one of the chairs(see 3rd photo) There are spots where someone tried to touch-up some spots which I've take photo's of as well. From the front of these chairs, they look as ... morethough nothing is wrong. I also noticed that the inside is made-up of coil springs and horsehair. When you sit in the chair and try to move the frame around it isn't to bad. But one does wobble some. The frame has natural cracks due to the age. If you are redoing the chairs, then I would re-spring one of them. I'm not an expert on these, but when I sit in one it's a little more stiff then the other. In one chair there is some bounce. This is what leads me to suggest to have it re-sprung. I'm not an expert by any means, but please ask before bidding. I'm really good at answering quickly. The main color of the needlepoint is green. Its almost a forest green with a hint of teal. The pictures capture the colors very well. The patina on the wood is outstanding! There are padded arms. Antique distressed cream colored paint with hints of gold through it. I'm uncertain of the age, however one of their kids who retained us to handle the estate told us that they definitely had them in the early 50's. He seemed to think they were earlier then 1940's. These are in the standard Louis XVI style. With fluted legs, and upholstered arm detail. I have two listings for these chairs: two chairs per listing for those who would like these for head of a dining table. Fabric is a cotton/blend floral pattern. They are stored at my upholsterers located on Jefferson Blvd. Just east of La Brea Avenue. The two chairs I kept for myself I had upholstered in ivory linen(image for reference. The backs of the chairs are a combination of cane and fabric. The sateen fabric is original and is a pale mint color. There is a woven pattern of cabbage roses or chrysanthemums with some gold color in the leaves and tips of the flowers as well as a darker green. The chairs feature the original webbing. They are in very good vintage condition with some slight cosmetic aging/evidence of use to the fabric which a gentle cleaning should resolve.
