The wire mesh mattress holder has been reenforced with wire(a late addition) It has two arms at the top to allow for draping the head of the bed canopy style. There are some rods missing which are available for replacement but by and large the bed is stable and the iron mechanism is working perfectly. The company's emblem is on the top of the headboard. This is a very rare and collectable piece of furniture. This is a perfect bed for a child transitioning from a crib. The lace in the photos IS NOT included with the bed. fabulous antique double secretary desk side by side quartersawn oak tyler desk
for sale is a very large and useful piece of antique furniture. this is a double secretary bookcase side by side desk. it has many wonderful features including galleries. Carvings, doors, drawers, drop front writing surface, a bank of cubbies, beveled center mirror just to mention a few. note the outside column of the door frame is part of the door and moves as the door moves. it has 4 shelves on each side. i have one out to allow a large porcelain romeo and juliet statue to sit. it has a lot of storage for whatever, i put porcelain in most of my pieces, but it would hold a bunch of books also. it is in near mint condition structure wise. it is quite heavy and is in three pieces which i have pictured. i had to move it out of a down stairs room i am converting to a bedroom. i have gotten too old or too lazy to climb the steps. at any rate, ... morei unloaded it and moved it to another room that really is not a good fit for it at all so i am going to try to sell it. the three sections go together and are held in place by dowels. you then attach screws from the inside of either outside cabinet to secure it to the center section. primarily the screws are just to keep the dowels from pulling out of the piece they slip into. it is large and heavy, it a bit over 62 inches wide, 17 inches deep, and 73 inches tall. it has a tyler desk or tyler cabinet co. st. louis, mo. paper label on it when i bought it about 8 years ago. the label was barely hanging on so i took it off and kept it. at this junction however, i do not know what i did with it. i know i have it but have not looked at the right spot yet. i paid 42000 for it like nearly 8 years ago, could have been longer. ihave several pieces displaced and need to dispose of them so i am starting this great piece at 1000 less than i paid. if you note the joints in drawer i pictured you can see they are dowel joints, so i expect it was made prior to 1890, after that time they did factory dovetail. pictures are bad and sorry about the dusk, didn't get the top wiped off i see. it m

Outstanding 1890's executive desk. Solid quartersawn oak. Fine detail. Reverse rope turned edges, carved top and bottom pedestals, 8 claw feet. One of a kind American made antique executive solid quartersawn oak desk. 1890's. Very elegant, executive desk, finely detailed. Great for attorney or doctors office, or anyone wanting the best. Carving all the way around, each pedestal has four claw feet, rope turned corners(and if you look you will see they are opposite turns which indicates the quality and detail) All drawers lock, I have the keys. Pieces like this are generally kept in the family, however I have no room anymore. 1800'S ANTIQUE S CURVE ROLL TOP SOLID QUARTERSAWN OAK DESK CARVED SHELL HANDLES
Here is the best SOLID OAK antique American roll top desk I have seen in many years. It was recently purchased from a local estate of a woman who had been in the antique business since the 1960's. I remember visiting her shop which was super interesting with lots of nooks and crannies filled with beautiful and out of the ordinary mostly American antiques. This desk was purchased in 1969 by a man who ended up as her husband and it remained in their family until now. Apparently. As the story goes, he was a student then and could not afford to buy the desk so he worked it off by doing odd jobs and helping around the shop. Everything is original from the finish to the locking system for the drawers and lock set and sliding locking mechanism for the top to the castors to the drawer slides to the fabric on the tambour door to the hardware and ... moredrawer pulls. There are four drawers with the shell carved handles on one side and three drawers and four handles on the other side as the bottom drawer is the double door. There is also a"secret" drawer under the side with the four drawers. If interested in a photo of this. Then just let me know. Looks as if it was added after.but a hiding place. It has all of the striking features of a top of the line roll top desk or curtain desks as they were called back in the day. This desk is top quality solid quartersawn oak with beautiful woodgrain patterns and patina and may possibly be a Stickley Brandt based on photos of their desks which were being produced in the late 1800's from the book"Furniture Made in America by E& R Dubrow" It is very similar to their top of the line model with the shell carved handles and quartersawn oak paneled sides and rear. The fitted interior is fabulous with lots of drawers with the original small wooden knobs. A few of knobs are are chipped but all drawers and pulls are present and original which is very difficult to find! for auction is a wonderful solid quartersawn oak roll top desk. this desk has no veneers and the quartersawn oak flake is as good as i have ever seen or owned. an old man. Long dead, who dealt in many many roll top desk told me that if you had a desk with a 5 digit inventory number that is was made by stickley and brandt. at any rate i would stake a good bit on his opinion. the stamped in inventory no. on this desk is 18173. regardless of who made this desk, it is top quality material and workmanship. the desk is 50 inches tall with a s waterfall top with a tambur that rolls and moves with great ease, no stopping, catching, jamming, etc. it rolls like butter. the other dimensions are, it is 50 inches wide and 32 inches deep. the desk top is 30 inches from the floor. it has the original key cover plate and strike plate on the desk top writing ... moresurface. the old lock has lost it's guts so i replaced the lock. anyway the top will lock if you choose to do so. it has a wonderful set of cubbies, complete with two pencil holders, i forgot to open for pictures and one drawer with a carved pull. i expect there may have been another drawer on the other side that has fell by the wayside somewhere and time in the last 120 years. the remainder of the cubby holes are as they should be. they were never designed for drawers and the openings are a good bit smaller than the ones that would accept a drawer. it has 4 drawers of wonderful construction on the left bank of the cabinet portion, most of which contain dividers. the right bank consists of three drawers, the bottom is a double drawer suited for file folders, it has a divider long ways down the center. i also forgot to open the drawers for pictures. i have used the 12 pictures ebay allows, but if anyone want pictures of the inside of the drawers or anything else i will be glad to send them to you. the drawers all have carved pulls in mint condition. underneath the desk top are four scotch and secure blocks which slide into a groove about 1/2 inch below the top part of the

Antique Quartersawn Oak Desk w/Drawers VERY UNUSUAL!
Here you are bidding on an"Antique Quartersawn Oak Desk" This is quite an unusual but attractive looking desk. It has six drawers with oak handles. The drawers each have flat skeleton keyholes(one is missing) and FOUR of the drawers have small brass and black plates on them with numbers. The desk has paneled sides and front and metal bottoms around the legs. The metal bottoms have a L shape as to screw the desk legs in place to the floor. I'm surmising this was a factory desk of sorts or a business place desk. Not really sure. The desk top has two ink well holes on it. It is a very sturdy desk and its integrity is in place. There are some intials carved here and there and some markings(see pictures)0n it There are some markings and ink stains inside the drawers as well. All in all it actually adds to its look without diminishing ... moreits appearance in general. As you can see from the pictures its really a sweet looking item and quite different. It has a nice finish and patina to it as well. There is a sliver of a seam split on the desk top but again nothing that affects the integrity. Worthy of mention but as you can see for yourself from the pictures its in really good shape despite it age. I would say its circa 1890's. It measures 38 inches wide x 22 inches deep x 30 inches high. It can be viewed in Point Pleasant each. NJ. if you like. Inquire within. Here is an awesome rolltop desk that is about 100 years old. $695 or best offer. The photos show the desk utilized as an electronic device station. Very cool. The back and sides are gorgeously paneled. Too. Needless to say. It's not factory-fresh. Sold as is. My own Dad bought it in about 1953 from a pharmacist William Votteler in Louisville. KY, and refinished it nicely in about 1965. Contact me with any question at all. And I'll set up direct contact if necessary. 54 inches wide. Writing surface is 30 inches high, whole desk is 45 inches high, 30 inches deep. It was made by"The J. Dornette& Brother Co. in Cincinnati. Ohio. There is some hidden"graffiti" indicating May, 1917, so the desk is at least that old. Said"graffiti" is a faint postmark on the side of a drawer! Nothing is broken. Just old. Some ... morewood is simply worn away, but the desk is functional. I replaced some of the drawer bottoms myself(as pictured) and installed some nylon runners where drawers wore against the desk body for a good long time, using only high quality techniques. ANTIQUE TRAIN STATION ENGINEERS DESK IN QUARTERSAWN OAK. HUGE AND IMPRESIVE! This is what I believe is a desk or bench used in a train station. It is an outstanding. Impressive piece of antique oak furniture& commands a presence& comments from most everyone who sees it. It's a tall counter-height. Great for standing at. The drawers& storage are numerous, with gorgeous tambour over the vertical filing compartment. The piece comes apart in three sections: the two base towers and the slanted top. There's plenty of character in this exceptionally well-made. Heavy oak desk. You'll find signs of its history and remarkable depth of patina decorating its gorgeous quarter sawn tiger oak surfaces. To my eye, the character and age-appropriate signs of use add to the character of this tremendous desk, making it that much more ... moreprofound. Personally I'd never want to refinish it, but that will be up to the next custodian of this venerable antique. It seems this piece is pretty rare as I've not found any others available in searches. We've given this a good cleaning and a coat of paste wax inside& out(whew! Waxed the drawer-runners so they glide decently. I think it's looking more fabulous than ever! When I originally collected this awesome piece. It came with some additional parts which appear to stand on the top in back, sort of a railing the full length of the desk, with a metal bracket attached to the edge for holding(I figure) rubber stamps. There are some spots where you can see it was attached but I've never tried to reattach or restore this as I preferred it to be clean and simple without the additional detail, but whatever parts I have are included. Measures about 8' long. Desk is about 46" high at its tallest top of the slope& about 32-1/2" wide. This piece will want to be picked up by a mover. We've been using Arnoff Moving who is local here in Western Massachusetts and the Hudson Valley with good results. Thanks for visiting on your treasure-quest.
