Condition: Used Location: Canada VERY NICE ANTIQUE FOLD OUT WRITING SLOPE/ DESK- LATE 1800's? MAHOGANY? Up for sale is this very nice writing slope. We don't know the age of this ... moreitem but it looks like it's from the late 1800's. It might be oak or mahogany. But whatever it is it's very nice. It has a little drawer below the writing slope area. The slope folds out and has a leather surface, this may have been replaced at some point. The hinges on the side also don't look original and were probably replaced. You can tell around the hinges where the wood failed and they replaced the hinges. The top flips up too to allow access to the slots for papers and envelopes that is in the back. Behind the writing slope is a wider area to hold other things. We've tried to show how the whole thing works in the first five pictures. The top has a lock but it doesn't have a key. The drawer has a lock on it and it does have the key as you can see in the pictures. It's very nicely done. The drawer is dovetail mortised on the sides. It's a very nice size and would be fairly portable if you needed it to be. It measures 14.5" W x 9.25" D x 10.25" H. The slope part is 13.75" H by 13.25" W. It weighs 9 lbs. VERY NICE ANTIQUE FOLD OUT WRITING SLOPE/ DESK- LATE 1800's? MAHOGANY? Up for sale is this very nice writing slope. We don't know the age of this item but it looks like it's from the late 1800's. It might be oak or mahogany. But whatever it is it's very nice. It has a little drawer below the writing slope area. The slope folds out and has a leather surface, this may have been replaced at some point. The hinges on the side also don't look original and were probably replaced. You can tell around the hinges where the wood failed and they replaced the hinges. The top flips up too to allow access to the slots for papers and envelopes that is in the back. Behind the writing slope is a wider area to hold other things. We've tried to show how the whole thing works in the first five pictures. The top has a lock but it doesn't ... morehave a key. The drawer has a lock on it and it does have the key as you can see in the pictures. It's very nicely done. The drawer is dovetail mortised on the sides. It's a very nice size and would be fairly portable if you needed it to be. It measures 14.5" W x 9.25" D x 10.25" H. The slope part is 13.75" H by 13.25" W. It weighs 9 lbs. Antique Civil War Era Fold Up Lap Desk Wood Veneered Traveling Writing Slope
This is a Beautiful 19 th Century Traveling Lap Desk. The box is covered in a wood veneer and has an inlay circle on the lid and around the key hole. The writing surface is covered in green velvet and is original to the piece. The hinges are original and in good repair. In addition to storage under the writing surfaces. There are four compartments, one of which is covered. The bottom of the desk is covered in green felt. The box is in very good aged condition. There are few places were the veneer has broken and there are some age or shrinkage cracks to the wood(see pictures) The box is 14” across. 9” wide, and 5” tall. It was procured at an Antique Estate Auction in Central Kentucky.

ca. 1800 Trans. Secretary Scottish Glass Hutch w/ Pull-Out Fold-Out English Desk
Being offered from estate of an avid antiques collector. Who traveled with internationally esteemed collectors and received items or advice from them, is this impressive secretary with glass hutch. In overall excellent condition, with some issues to note below. The transitional style is a result of two parts placed together, separate origin from Scotland pre-chippendale ca. 1800 era + the Georgian English desk portion. Measures 93" high x 45-1/4" wide x 23" deep overall. The hutch itself is 47" high x 43" wide x 13" deep. See photos zoomed for details and verify condition. The issues to note are: thin. Antique glass is intact but three panes have minor cracks in corners; the desk area's leather surface was removed. Is gone; the brass handles appear replacements. Not original(top 2 have loose hoops) there ... moreare no keys if intended to have them. The back panels appear to be the same wood as seen from the front. The finish is excellent. No obvious signs of damage or abuse. Note the"chippendale" style cornice on top. Officially for local pickup here in Florida. But we will cooperate with a buyer who arranges for freight moving service, of course.

No damage at all but would be more beautiful if refinished in a nice new stain. It has clawfoot-type legs but at the foot they are squares to hold it up sturdy. Located in Reno. NV. Estate ~ 1800's Fold Open Wood Writing Desk 2 original INKWELLS & KEY
This lovely antique writing desk/lap desk opens to a good size piece with 2 writing flaps that lift to expose storage underneath. The velveteen like material looks original with some staining and soil. The hinges are nicely folding open and closing the desk this is a wedge writing box if you look at the side photo you can see the wedge shape so it unfolds on a slant. There is a small brass placque on the top which has not been monogrammed. This is an interesting piece measuring approx. 14" long x 9" x 4" high in the CLOSED position. Open this beauty up to expose the 2 original glass inkwells along with a small storage space that has a lift out lid. Sturdy construction. Pretty wood grain that looks like rosewood. A gorgeous piece that was well constructed during the 1800's complete with original key.
