So I will be listing several items ... morefor sale. Please check out my other items. This is an extremely rare antique schoolhouse, or possibly a university, desk. It is hand hewn solid wood, very thick for todays standards. It was manufactured by the George M. Hammer Co. Ltd. in Strand London in the late 1800's or possibly the VERY early 1900's. They were builders of church and school furniture in England. It still has the brass ink well cover as shown in the pictures and also still has the porcelain casters. The desk part slide in and out for comfort and fit. The bas is 34" long, 11" wide in the front and 14" wide in the back. The desk section measures 22" long, 19" wide, 10" tall in the back and 6" tall in the front. It is 38" tall in the back. It is missing one small wood brace as shown in the pictures. I have had a lot of school desks over the years but this is by far the most unique and rare I have ever found.

My uncle was a great gatherer of items. Many of which came from stoves. I have started going through these items and will be posting some. There is a lot of great rust in this pile! These are a pair of fancy design cast iron bases for a school house desk. They are embossed with the maker AM Andrews Co Chicago, also a patent no. of 641061, I am not exactly sure how this was set up, but there is a piece on each that has a bolt and folds over, creating an"L" for the seat portion to sit on, at the top portion there are small notches where, I believe the top hooked in. These are very nice and with some creativity could be made into a number of very cool things. They measure 29" across and are 29.5" tall, the base part(feet) 19" from foot to foot. Antique 1840's Wolf Creek KY School House Desk - Beautiful American Premative!
Really hard to find pieces like this. I purchased this desk from Antique Accents on the square in Marietta GA 9-14-07. I will tell you what I know. But only garrantee that you are biding on the desk shown in the pictures. I was told the desk came from a school house in Wolf Creek KY, and it was made in the 1840's. Based on what I know I believe this to be a good estimate of the age. I think it has the original finish and the original hardware. I consider it to be in beautiful condition! There is one drawer, three small and one larger cubbyhole. It it very sound. The hight is 37" width is 29 3/4" depth is 22 1/2" I will be happy to take additional pictures, or answer any questions you have. Thanks for looking! Local pick up only.
