It has many useful ... morefeatures including ample storage and an extendable writing surface. There are storage cabinets on the side panels and at the back of the knee hole space. The interior drawers above the writing surface are all functional. When the writing surface is extended, a row of faux drawers is revealed. The drawers on either side of the knee hole are locked until the writing surface is extended slightly and then the mechanism unlocks. Overall this desk is in great condition. There are a few damaged spots in the burled walnut veneer (see pictures), and a couple of splits in some of the side panels (see pictures). All of these blemishes are caused by use and age, and do not affect the function.

Mostly solid walnut construction with book matched burl veneer on desktop and back of gallery and burl veneer on drawer fronts. Drawer fronts are approx. 1 1/4" thick. Photos tell most of the story. 48" wide. 28.5" deep, 44.5" tall, writing surface is 30.5" from floor. There is a bit of filler in a couple molding joints and the veneer of writing surface has a couple of age cracks, there are some worm holes, No! they are not active! one missing turned spindle at each back corner of gallery, all easily enough seen in the photos. All the aforementioned add nicely to the antique patina. The the top comes off for easy transport, and the piece is remarkably light in spite of it's sturdy ... moreconstruction.
