This roll-cylinder secretary features a wonderful ... moreheavy carved crest, and dates from the 1880's. It comes with three original shelves that are adjustable behind the wavy glass doors. It has burl walnut panels coming down both sides, heavy crown molded top and a crest with big ball finials on each end. It has a commode base with three drawers and a door. The only thing I don’t like about this cylinder desk is that the finish is light, similar to a cherry, but it is walnut wood. It has the original heavy bold brass hardware, and is in really nice shape. The pull-out writing surface has green felt on it. When you open the double panel cylinder roll, it reveals a simplistic double drawer interior that is simplistic.

Victorian cylinder or barrel roll- top secretary desk and bookcase - 1800's
Antique high top desk/bookcase. The top and bottom come apart at base of glass door book case. This is a warm- toned walnut wood with burled walnut panels. My parents purchsed this as an antique in the 1950's from previous elderly owners- not antique store. They did not replace any of the hardware or the glass during the time they owned it and I believe these to be the original. But have no way of telling- glass has tiny bubbles, but I don't see a wave. The desk appears to be in good condition. The top of the desk pulls out for a writing surface. The writing surface is rough on top and some of the drawers have ink stains. as mentioned- this item has pretty much been left in original state. This is a very attractive and interesting piece. This fine 19th century piece is in wonderful antique condition and the secretary appears solid and tight and the cylinder roll goes up and down with ease there is an old repair to the left side next to the cylinder roll see last picture. 19th century secretary that surely would be a fabulous focal point in a Victorian décor. Eastlake 1875 Antique Cylinder Roll Top Secretary Desk& Bookcase. From the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1870. This classic secretary desk has a cylinder or barrel roll with a bookcase above. Solid walnut with burl panels. The finish is in extremely fine condition with warm antique patina and very minor mars and shrinkage separations from age. Bookshelves are adjustable on this American made furniture. The roll has beautiful book matched burl. It glides smoothly open. Inside are cubicles and a locking drawer for papers. Inset with leather, the writing surface pulls out. Lower drawers have original nickel ring pulls and characteristic round or pin and cove dovetail joints of the era. The roll locks, as does the bookcase door, there is a small loss to the escutcheon as shown. Two separate pieces for easier moving. And dates from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1870. Solid walnut with intricate burl panels. The original finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina and was revarnished long ago. There is significant wear on the right side of the bookcase, see photos. Incised"spoon" carving and geometric moldings are authentic. Original door locks and keys still work on this American made furniture. The bookcase has original wavy glass and adjustable shelves. Embossed hardware is original. The drawer has round"pin and cove" dovetail joints. The interior of the desk has a pull out saddle leather writing surface and golden curly or"birdseye" ... moremaple. For your consideration, this beautiful Tall Burl Walnut Victorian Cylinder Roll Secretary Desk with Bookcase Top and Lovely Floral Crown(Circa: 1880) This elegant Cylinder Roll Secretary Desk weighs approximately 175 pounds, and measures 95” in height(from the floor to the top of the crown) 43 ¾” in width, and 23” in depth. The space from the floor to the underside of the pull-out writing surface measures 30 ½” in height. This beautiful Tall Walnut Victorian Cylinder Roll Secretary Desk with Bookcase Top and Lovely Floral Crown is in excellent condition for its age, has many wonderful details and is just waiting for its place of prominence in your home! The bookcase top is graced with a beautiful incised leaf scrolled crown adorned with lovely large carved flowers that are ... moreaccented with dimensionally carved pyramidal geometric ornaments. This beautiful removable crown sits upon the crown moulding on the bookcase top. The bookcase top has two large adjustable walnut shelves that measure 10” deep by 36 ¼” long and the wavy glass in the doors appears to be original. An intact working lock with key is found on the right door. Elegant vertical linear raised burl panels accent the sides of these doors while lovely scalloped scroll moulding is found beneath them. The bookcase top is removable for shipping purposes and sits on the handsome burl cylinder roll base. The handsome burl cylinder base is accented with fluting on the sides and the burl clad cylinder roll door is graced with ebonized knob pulls which appear to be original. Behind the burl clad cylinder roll door. There are 7 open pigeon-hole compartments and a pull-out black felt writing surface. Two petite drawers beneath the pigeon-holes provide some storage opportunity. All of the drawers on this cylinder roll desk are constructed with dovetail joinery. Speaking of drawers. Victorian Eastlake 1840 Cylinder Roll Top Secretary Desk, Bookcase Top
Trying to get someone to help move this away from the wall so that I can take pictures of the back. There is the stagecoach information where this traveled from the east coast to the west coast. I believe it says in 1864. Its been a few decades since I saw it back there. The skeleton key locks the cabinet. No one walks in my door without commenting on it.
