Information on This Item Once in a while. The stars align, the wind blows gently in the right direction, and you find a truly exceptional piece that takes your breath away. This English Cylinder Rolltop Desk is such a piece. It was made by Edwards& Roberts(last photo) in England in the 1840's. It has a rich oak patina, tooled leather writing surface, the center one raises for reading, etc. and birdseye maple drawers and trim inside. The writing surface pulls out for added work space, and the cylinder roll is solid oak, not slats as in most rolltops. The solid brass owl pulls are later on long spacious drawers. A deep rich brown finish is in excellent condition. Two pull out shelves offer extra workspace. The center drawer is rebuilt. The tambour roll top glides smoothly, there are letter holders right and left. For easier delivery, the roll top section lifts off. Oak Rolltop C Desk Paneled Small English
Up for sale is a antique C roll top desk. It is paneled oak. It looks to still have it's original finish on it. This was shipped over from Europe years ago. The desk is 47 1/2inches wide,28 1/2inches deep and 43 1/4inches tall. The desk does show some damage and is dirty. It has some cigarette burns on the flat pull outs on the one side. It also has damage from the key being lost and someone using a screwdriver to pry it open. Some other minor dings and scratches. The desk is all taken apart so the new owner will need some screws to put it back together. I will be listing this item plus other oak piece from a local estate. The owner was a refinisher. This Circa 1900"S" Rolltop desk has been in the family for 64 years. It is a part of my fathers estate and will be sold to the highest bidder. The overall dimensions are approximately 55 inches wide. 51 inches tall, and 35 inches deep. The writing surface is approx. 32 inches high. The upper storage area consists of 10 drawers and 18 cubicles. The lower storage area has 9 drawers with the center drawer having its own key. A very fine and rare antique. Circa 1890's, quartersawn oak Louis XV style cylinder rolltop lady's writing desk. It is finished on all sides, four cabriole legs, two front drawers with maple interiors. The maple cubbyhole has two flame birch veneered drawers, the interior back also of flame birch veneer. The roll is in working order, with the lock and key(Vetter Desk, Rochester, NY. It measures 3'9" 45" tall by 3'6" 42" wide by 2'6" 30" deep. From the floor to the bottom front drawers measures 24-1/2y" tall. Excellent condition: original finish, mild soiling on writing surface, no chips, partial tight crack on left side board. Tiny pale stain on upper right top board. The brass pulls have some dents. All together lovely desk!

this rolltop desk needs some re-doing.there is a stain on flat-ddesk area?the white hue you see in pictures is just dust.desk is approx27" deep.46" high and a little more than 4' long.the back of the desk is paneled.lock missing.the drawer I cannot close has all the mechanism for the tambor(lock and unlock) in the back(will have to figure it out.I'm afraid to lower the tambor for fear that I will not be able to slide it back up.I will take another look when my son comes to visit(our own Mr. Fixit)the chair is in great shape.just needs cleaning.It's a beauty

Antique Traditional Rolltop Desk S Curve c1880 - 1910 - Oak - Museum Quality
This is the"holy grail" of oak rolltop desks according to my preferences. When you look at it. It's like looking into an old cathedral or old library. This is a truly stunning piece of art. Origins: My great grandfather established a retail business in Massachusetts in 1895 and the store survived three generations in the same location. When my father(third generation) closed the business in 1978, I(fourth generation) gathered up all of the treasures and had them painstakingly restored. Included was this desk, an 1800's brass National Bar Cash Register, a large Victorian Oak Book case and other pieces. The desk, when I got it had been painted green. The restorer, a master craftsman, E.P. Lavelle of Holyoke, MA took one year to completely restore this masterpiece. This is not your typical finish. The wood was stripped, the ... morepores were filled, the wood stained, then multiple coats of varnish/shellac? were applied, rubbed polished and caressed to perfection. Even the tambour strips were individually finished and then applied to new canvass to create the ultimate S roll top. The desk has been with my family for a hundred years and sad to say, I have no family that can take this heirloom. If you are a dealer with a good home in mind or a successful executive looking for a great traditional desk- this item is for you. Recently, the last ten years, this item has been in storage. I have a crate for the top and the bases were wrapped in soft material and then padded with bubble wrap. It took me the better part of the day to put it back together for the photos and it has a fresh coat of paste wax. There is a small brass plaque with my grandfather's name, restorer and my name on the panel to the rear- facing the front of this unit. Selling a very nice SMALL SCALE c 1880 American made antique oak roll top desk in the original finish. The desk has paneled sides and is extremely well made. The drawers are all dovetailed which is the finest drawer construction. This handy roll top/ tambour desk is the smaller version of the huge roll top desks you see in old offices and Victorian libraries. This nice example is without the drawers on the left side which makes it more practical for smaller spaces; it measures 34 inches wide by 43 inches high by 25 3/4 inches deep. Some people call this a"lady's roll top" because of the diminutive size. There are plenty of cubbies for storing all your love letters. Bills, death threats or whatever.
