Antique'IDEAL' Cast Iron Ornate School Desk With Fold-up Front Bench. Patented April 14th. 1882. In overall good condition. Cast Iron is in very good condition with no breaks or cracks. Paint/finish has some ware. Wood is in good condition as well. No rotting or major cracks or breaks, but has ware to surface. PAT'D SEPT. 18. 1868 There is also a large stamped 5 in the same location. See arrow. The desk measures 2 feet from front to back(bird's eye view) The working surface is 117 square inches. The desktop is 2 feet up from the floor. There is a storage(cubby hole) underneath the desk for textbooks and supplies. The desk seat is hinged so that it can be folded ... moreup. Condition: No major defects. Just ordinary wear as it was used over the years. If I had a slingshot or a pea shooter. I would have included it in the photos. I don't like long descriptions. It is fully functional and very sturdy! I noticed that one of the screws is missing from the top portion of the writing desk so the top is a tiny bit loose with a slight wiggle. There are some pen marks and paint marks on the desk- you know how kids are! There is a 4 in split in the wood on the top writing desk. There are scuffs and scratches from use/storage.
