Condition: Used Location: Rowlett, United States Here is an absolutely delightful antique solid wood desk with front to back planked hand planed drawers. Mortise and tenon construction and beautifully ... moreturned legs. This desk stands 30 3/8 inches tall and measures 40 inches wide and 28 inches deep, front to back. The top consists of two boards, one 13 inches wide that runs flat across the top and a second board 15 inches wide that angles slightly down towards the drawers. The two drawers are each 14 1/4 inch wide by 22 1/2 inches front to back and 2 1/4 inches deep. The drawers do both still have an old lock mechanism and there is a key that works them that comes with the desk but I always consider old locks"risky business" which tend to stick and will not guarantee the locks as working for any length of time. This desk is completely pegged and stands strong. Level and sturdy. I noticed upon close examination someone has reinforced some of the joints in the drawers with screws and tightened the top down perhaps with screws they have pegged the ends of as well, tastefully done probably to maintain the desk as a functional piece without the costs and labor involved in a complete re-gluing of a piece like this. These adaptations again are not really noticed unless one looks the desk over very closely and in the end has kept it strong and sturdy. I am not positive if this wood is a lighter colored walnut, cherry or something like chestnut so I am choosing not to identify it for purposes of my listing though someone familiar with this type may recognize it immediately. There are a few small areas on the ornately carved back where there have been some small repairs to the ornately carved areas. There are a few light surface scratches to the finish from general use, but it has been very well cared for, and is in amazing condition. I am unsure of the exact age or manufacture of the piece. It most likely dates to the middle to last part of the 19th Century. It does have some cracking in the front writing surface of the desk, but these areas are superficial thus far. The desk is made of what I believe is mahogany, and has ornately carved accecents on the vitrine shelf supports which are done in reverse scrolls.

Up for sale is this nice vintage school house small child's desk and chair with storage for lunch or books- great for decor or use. This desk is very solid with metal and wood construction- built to last! It has some wear from age as expected but overall it is in good condition. It measures 24" tall and 24 3/4" from the back rest to the front edge of the desk. The seat measures 11 1/2" by 11 1/2" and the desk measures 20" by 14 1/2" This desk is for a very small child- probably toddler to kindergarten. Victorian Carlton House Desk Satinwood & Rosewood
This victorian example of the ever popular Carlton House Desk is in wonderful overall condition and has been a pleasure to own. The desk is predominantly satinwood with rosewood cross banding and inlaid with coloured fruitwoods. A really wonderful specimen that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated however i have included some good photos beneath. Height 45" Width 47" depth 22" this has had pride of place in my study for a number of years but is now being offered for the first time for private sale here on eBay. My uncle was a great gatherer of items. Many of which came from stoves. I have started going through these items and will be posting some. There is a lot of great rust in this pile! These are a pair of fancy design cast iron bases for a school house desk. They are embossed with the maker AM Andrews Co Chicago, also a patent no. of 641061, I am not exactly sure how this was set up, but there is a piece on each that has a bolt and folds over, creating an"L" for the seat portion to sit on, at the top portion there are small notches where, I believe the top hooked in. These are very nice and with some creativity could be made into a number of very cool things. They measure 29" across and are 29.5" tall, the base part(feet) 19" from foot to foot. Based on what I know I believe this to be a good estimate of the age. I think it has the original finish and the original hardware. I consider it to be in beautiful condition!
