This auction is for a Fantastic Antique Wood and Cast Iron Combination School Chair and Desk with children's names carved in long ago. The cast iron legs have a neat Victorian Scroll design and are marked Buffalo New York and with the number 3 and three patent dates from 1881. 1890 and 1897. The piece oozes nostalgia with wood that has a great. Rich patina. Among the carved names are"Joyce" and"Jack" and other pictures. Including something that looks like a flower. The desk has a shelf beneath the desktop. The desktop itself has a well for pencils and a hole for an ink well. The piece was a recent purchase from an estate sale near Harrisburg. Pa. It is sturdy in all respects with a seat that folds up smoothly. Antique Vintage Child's Wood School Desk Bench Chair - very nice condition!
This very nice late1800s school desk will look great anywhere in your home. The bench seats folds up. The desktop has a hole for inkwell and a groove for pencils. Very nice ornate wrought iron legs add to the beauty. Inscribed on the leg are the patent dates from 1881. 1890, and 1891. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos but the words are much clearer than these pictures show. There are many uses for these school desks as a decoration or actual use in your house. Up for sale are a pair of Heywood Eclipse wooden school desk chairs with adjustable metal bases. On the base is the Manufacturer name and the#3. I believe these date to 1890 time frame. They have been in my family since I was a child and at one time we had the desks to them that we used at home as kids. This desk and chair set needs restoration. Both the desk and the chair indicate they are adjustable on cast iron bases. The desk is suppose to adjusts and the seat can adjust as well- though this old antique school desk and chair does need refurbishing. This is a Clean desk with minimal wear present. This desk weighs 25 pounds and measures 24 and 1/4" tall by 25 and 1/2" deep by 17 and 7/8" wide. The seat does pivot. There is some minor wear present however there are no repairs present. This is a must have desk for the serious collector. This desk has been stored and untouched for the last 25 years.
