It is solid wood construction with a solid wood desk top. The steel hardware and wood fittings are all in good shape and the chair is tight and serviceable. Its original finish shows obvious signs of wear and regular use and was probably in a public school environment in its day. It measures about 341/2" high overall with a 18" wide and a 18" seat to floor height. As big as the seat is I suspect it could have been in a High School. An average adult can fit in this one just fine. This chair is able to be shipped. But is also available for local pickup. Pickup in Northwest Ohio or contact us to make other arrangements. We are willing to meet/deliver if with in a few hours for fee to cover mileage/gas.

The cast iron legs have a neat Victorian Scroll design and are marked Buffalo New York and with the number 3 and three patent dates from 1881. 1890 and 1897. The piece oozes nostalgia with wood that has a great. Rich patina. Among the carved names are"Joyce" and"Jack" and other pictures. Including something that looks like a flower. Up for sale are a pair of Heywood Eclipse wooden school desk chairs with adjustable metal bases. On the base is the Manufacturer name and the#3. I believe these date to 1890 time frame. They have been in my family since I was a child and at one time we had the desks to them that we used at home as kids. One chair is in better shape that the other but both are very solid with no major issues. One of the chairs does have some separation in the glue joints although nothing is loose. Antique adjustable child's Desk and Chair made by Chandler Co. of Boston Massachusetts- wood with cast iron legs- chair leg marked with patent dates Nov 14. 1893 and June 9, 1893. This desk and chair set needs restoration. Both the desk and the chair indicate they are adjustable on cast iron bases. The desk is suppose to adjusts and the seat can adjust as well- though this old antique school desk and chair does need refurbishing. The desk has slates of loose wood on top and bottom, and one leg of desk is not affixed to bottom. It's possible that one leg on desk will be removed for shipping. Though this desk set has been in storage for many year. The bent wood chair is in solid condition- Both desk and chair do show age with scratches, scuffs, nicks and minor dings and digs. This is a Clean desk with minimal wear present. This desk weighs 25 pounds and measures 24 and 1/4" tall by 25 and 1/2" deep by 17 and 7/8" wide. The seat does pivot. There is some minor wear present however there are no repairs present. This is a must have desk for the serious collector. This desk has been stored and untouched for the last 25 years.
