It has burl walnut panels coming down both sides, heavy crown molded top and a crest with big ball finials on each end. It has a commode base with three drawers and a door. The only thing I don’t like about this cylinder desk is that the finish is light, similar to a cherry, but it is walnut wood. It has the original heavy bold brass hardware, and is in really nice shape. The pull-out writing surface has green felt on it. When you open the double panel cylinder roll, it reveals a simplistic double drawer interior that is simplistic.

It is our pleasure to present. For your consideration, this fabulous and very impressive Tall Victorian Rococo Flame Mahogany Secretary with Arched Bookcase Top(Circa: 1860) This gorgeous two-piece Secretary weighs approximately 170 pounds and measures 102 ½” in total height(from the floor to the arched top of the crown) 44 ¼” in width, and 20 ½” in depth. The three adjustable shelves each measure 9” in depth and 41 ¼” in width. This is truly one of the most beautiful Victorian Secretaries of its kind that we have had the privilege to offer. You will notice that there is some faint writing on the back of the piece(see the e-Bay photo) that probably indicates either the maker or the person for whom the piece was made. From what we can see it is signed M. Hall, Hannibal, MO. The details on this Secretary are absolutely wonderful! ... moreThis beautiful Secretary is constructed of mahogany. And flame mahogany over a secondary wood and the details are exquisite! The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. English Regency Mahogany Antique Chiffonier[Secretary Desk. Bookcase] First quarter of the 19th Century In excellent well preserved condition Item# 130004OTY21 This is a very fine English Regency Chiffonier crafted during the first half of the 19th Century. Formed of dense well figured mahogany. The profile is square and strict, a piece delivering an almost intimidating stocky presence. The diminutive stature of the bookcase is typical of the Chiffonier, three graduated levels of shelving with triple-beaded edge moldings of the solid, the gallery joined with exposed dovetails along the side and the case joined with dovetails at the bottom. Two original hand filed steel screws still secure the bookcase to the lower case. Flipping over original hand cast brass hinges. The top of the case rests on two square lopers to reveal a flat gilt-tooled ... moreleather writing surface. A small tab at the back of this surface allows the back of the desk to rise and reveal a small compartment beneath the writing surface. This desk portion locks, protecting papers and valuables inside with ease. The two doors completing the lower area of the case feature replaced pleated fabric. These opening over original hinges and hardware to reveal a shelved interior(two replaced shelves) with a deep space. The case rests over original lion paw feet, these executed with utmost precision- even the backs of the feet, areas that would almost never be seen, are finished carefully with highly detailed carving throughout. For anyone passionate about English antique furniture. This is a very fine acquisition. Functional and a very useful piece, it makes a wonderful desk, bookcase, entertainment center and console table. The top two drawers are false. They drop to form a desk top. This style of desk was often called a"butler's desk" in a large household, the butler was the head of staff and kept records in a desk like this. Adjustable shelves for books or displaying glassware. This top part of the cabinet is removeable. The desk has a large carved design on the front of the fall front desk top and opens to reveal pigeon holes. Slots and two small drawers within the desk itself. The fall front provides a large writing surface. The desk portion sits over a full width single drawer with two half width drawers and a cupboard base w/ door underneath. 1800's Walnut Cylindrical Roll Top Secretary Desk With Bookcase
This is a very unique. Historic, piece possibly involved in 1906 California earthquake. It is a tall, dark walnut cylinder or barrel roll top glider desk with burled walnut. Dating from 1800-1890- time period uncertain. The bookcase is a separate piece for moving around. There are three(3) shelves that adjust on wooden supports. The bookcase measures 43 5/8 inches tall, 31 inches side to side and 12 inches front to back. The bird's eye roll top desk measures about 30 inches high(will need to remeasure to be certain) 30 inches side to side. The writing area measures 29 1/2 inches wide and 9 3/4 inches from front to cubbies, 6 inches of well worn felt(front to back) that is 23 3/4 inches across. Inside the roll top are 4 cubbies(5 inches by 5 1/2 inches) and one larger cubbie measuring 8 1/2 inches height, and 9 1/2 inches from side to ... moreside. Key holes, but keys are not available. The hardware includes square nails. More pictures available to show the detail clearer) There are three drawers with large brass and ebony wood knobs. The top drawers has two dividers. It is 4 inches top to bottom. 14 1/2 inches front to back. The dividers measure 7 1/2 inches, a larger one in the middle- 13 1/2 inches and another 7 1/2 inches. The other two drawers are both 8 1/2 inches top to bottom. It has wheels and it is in overall good condition but does show some signs of age. HISTORY There is a lot of mystery surrounding this piece and there is still research being conducted. Some clues are a Bank of America envelope with a.03$ stamp on it. A San Diego State College Envelope, postcards from Pacific Novelty Company and a collection of black and white photos with people and landscapes of China town, the San Francisco Bay area, and other picturesque scenery along the Pacific coast. The piece definitely has an unusual energy and most likely was involved in a very serious earthquake because of psychic visions.

Incredible find.beautiful old Plantation Desk top. In lovely condition. Not abused, from a non-smoking home. Usually the only the bottom part of the plantation desks survive. But this complete top is in lovely, age-appropriate condition. I believe the wood is walnut with pine as a secondary wood. There is a top section that lifts that goes the entire away across with the molding. Revealing pigeon holes/cubbies. On either side of the piece are large doors.the left side has a grid of cubbies. The right side has horizontal dividers, with pretty ogee divider detail for vertical file storage. Four drawers with horizontal beaded details.they no longer have their pulls but move freely. An age-appropriate pull would be wood. So it should be easy to replace. Other than that, it’s all original, dating from the 1850s era. It has all the original hand-chamfered backboards on it. It starts with an ogee molded crown top, and has two beautiful wavy glass doors with two shelves inside, two hand-cut dovetail drawers, a flip down flame mahogany matched veneer lid that opens to reveal a green felt writing surface, which we have replaced, and pencil trays on the side. The top drawer opens to support the writing surface. Below that are two more large drawers with wooden knobs and traditional elephant style scroll feet. The overall size is 43.5 inches wide on the base, 21 inches deep, 32 inches high to the writing surface, and an unusually tall 83 inches high overall. It’s in mind-boggling condition for a piece this old. There only minor chips here and there, and it has an amazing patina. This desk comes in two sections for transport. Antique high top desk/bookcase. The top and bottom come apart at base of glass door book case. This is a warm- toned walnut wood with burled walnut panels. My parents purchsed this as an antique in the 1950's from previous elderly owners- not antique store. They did not replace any of the hardware or the glass during the time they owned it and I believe these to be the original. But have no way of telling- glass has tiny bubbles, but I don't see a wave. The desk appears to be in good condition. The top of the desk pulls out for a writing surface. The writing surface is rough on top and some of the drawers have ink stains. as mentioned- this item has pretty much been left in original state. This is a very attractive and interesting piece. Drop Front Northwind Tiger Oak Secretary Desk Side by Side Bookcase
Crafted of solid quarter sawn oak about 1900. A side by side secretary desk and bookcase with a Northwind design. I think at one time someone messed with the bookcase section and changed it from a curved front to a straight front. Also the veneer on the drop front was replaced, and is coming loose, and then the original Northwind carving was put back on. The Northwind carvings seem to be intact without any damage, and the other parts of elsewhere are in good condition. I have the key that will work for the drawers and the drop front, but not for the bookcase door. It still is a rare Northwind piece. Stands about 6 feet. And is about 40" wide, and 13" deep. A very fine antique. Circa 1840, Empire plain mahogany boards, with some flame mahogany veneers, bookcase top secretary desk over two door cabinet. Two piece construction: the bookcase with three adjustable wood shelves, the interior with an old ivory paint finish. Both doors retain their original wavy glass, brass escutcheon, key and lock. The drop front desk has a felt writing surface, cubbyhole with two drawers and letter slots. The two bottom doors have a brass grill over dowel framed pink fabric, with brass escutcheon and lock. The compartment has a removable wood shelf. The furniture measures 7'2" 86" tall by 2'1" 25" wide by 22-1/2" deep, the bookcase shelves 10" deep. Constructed out of solid Mahogany from an unknown time and location. Originally purchased as a gift to my Grandmother from her Husband. My Grandfather, many, many years ago. This piece of furniture is in excellent condition and truly is a wonderful looking piece. A simple yet elegant design that easily coordinates well with many different décor styles. Display shelving is showcased by three beautiful glass front cabinets with their original curved glass windows and a gold gilding decorative trim. Glass is in excellent condition. No chips. Cracks or sections of gilding missing. There are a total of three shelves within the display window. Lower portion has pull-out secretary desk that has a working lock and key. Interior of desk area contains an inlaid leather desk pad with gilded(gold) detailing to writing area. Secretary area also holds ... moreone drawer and five shelves to organize your items within. Lower section contains 3 deep drawers which measure 28-1/2" across. 6-1/2" deep, 11" wide. Two side cabinets also containing three shelves each. Little to no signs of wear throughout this piece. There is one mark on the right sided cabinet. On the bottom, where it looks to be something bumped into it. It is located in an inconspicuous place and is not deep or attention catching, and most likely can be easily fixed with a touch-up wood stain. I have not attempted it. High quality detailed claw feet in front and carved design on front of drop down desk top. Carved design on the front of the canopy at the top of the desk. The mirrors are original and are beveled around the perimeter of each mirror. The mirror on the left was broken. But has been put back together, but shows the crack. There are three drawers below the drop down desk top which are functional and slide in and out easily. The bookcase on the left has four shelves which are adjustable plus the bottom is also a shelf. The curved glass on the front of the bookcase is cracked from stress when moving this piece of furniture. It can be replaced. See photos. 125 year old (1889) antique oak desk bookcase secretary - La Crosse Wisconsin
Antique oak combination drop front desk bookcase secretary. 10 compartments& drawer inside. fixed shelf on bottom. Original beveled mirror. drop front has a key and it locks! After I purchased it I discovered the back of the little inside drawer had the words"Wm Thomas 1889" written in pencil. It is very faint. But readable. While restoring I took great care as not to damage the writing. I can't guarantee that it was written in 1889, but I do believe it is genuine. The front drop desk was missing and has been replaced with very old oak to match the piece, and an antique lock was installed. It originally had hinges on the drop desk. I couldn't locate antique replacement hinges and thus I went with brass chains which work very nicely and look great. Country Empire 1840 Antique Secretary Desk& Bookcase. If there is such a thing as Country Empire. This secretary desk and bookcase is it. Hand crafted of solid walnut about 1840, this clean lined desk is very pleasing. The finish is waxed and buffed. So an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is all that is needed to maintain its warm patina. There are small mars at the edges for character, the flip open desk writing area has ink stains. Bookcase doors have old wavy glass and original brass and porcelain latches. Square cut nails are visible on this American made antique furniture. Said to be from Pennsylvania. Two separate pieces for easier moving. Shelves are not adjustable and locks have no keys. Size is 46" wide, 21" deep, 90" tall and the desktop is 27" high. Cylinder roll desks are usually found in walnut but are not as common in oak!This fine Victorian Secretary Desk features its original wavy glass. Outstanding period heavy brass drawer pulls and period dovetailed ends on the drawers with two working keys one for the bookcase top and one that works the lock on the cylinder roll desk portion.which usually the locks on the cylinder roll portion of these types desks are missing or non-functional. The desk drops down having a large writing surface with drawers and cubbyholes for great organization. Three drawers and two compartments at the bottom offer nice storage. We believe this to be a plantation made piece from NC or Virginia. With its original hardware the warm color of the Walnut is just beautiful. Solid and sturdy this desk is in excellent antique condition. It has been used, there are ink spots on the inside of the desk. A very functional piece I'm sure it will add warmth and charm to any home. The height from the floor to the top of pull out writing surface is 28 ½” and the storage compartment behind the two bottom doors measures 16 ¼” in depth, 35” in width, and 17 ½” in height. The handsome Bookcase Top is adorned with elegant crown moulding. Raised burl panels and rosette roundels that provide ... morethe perfect accent for the lovely glass doors. The original wavy glass doors open to reveal two adjustable storage shelves on which you can display your fine collectibles and or books. These adjustable storage shelves measure 36” wide by 9 ½” in deep. Please note that the handsome Bookcase Top and Burl-Clad Cylinder roll configuration can be removed from the lovely cabinet base for shipping purposes. The gorgeous Burl-clad Cylinder Roll is dressed with one wooden knob pull and opens to reveal a wonderful storage compartment with a pull-out black felt writing surface. The storage compartment behind the Burl-clad cylinder roll door is divided into six small compartments and a larger center compartment with two petite drawers on the sides. These two petite drawers have porcelain knob pulls. Please note that the cylinder has an intact working lock on top and a working tasseled key is included.
