It has four dove tail drawer going down the left-hand side and four going down the right-hand side. The center drawer has round dove tail as expected from the Eastlake era. It has burl walnut trim on the fronts with an ogee bevel edge around the routed top. It has a black felt interior on the writing surface that is nice. The finish on the sides is amazing. It has panel sides, rope twisted molding, detail cast brass hardware, escutcheons are intact. There are no keys or locks. The desk is 48 inches wide, 27 inches deep and 30 inches tall. The space for your legs is 19 inches by 25 inches.

This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. The cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. Co Pat. The lock is intact but we do not have the key. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. The left offers a stack of four storage drawers with period dove-tailed ends and the original pulls. To the right another drawer is found with a storage cabinet below. The lock is missing from the cabinet door. As you can see in the pictures this desk could easily be in the center of a room for it is as lovely on the back as the front and is finished beautifully all the way around. This Victorian Eastlake cylinder roll desk circa 1880 is in fabulous antique condition. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

The only thing I don’t like about this cylinder desk is that the finish is light, similar to a cherry, but it is walnut wood. It has the original heavy bold brass hardware, and is in really nice shape. The pull-out writing surface has green felt on it. When you open the double panel cylinder roll, it reveals a simplistic double drawer interior that is simplistic.

This fine 19th century desk features its original brass Eastlake hardware with the key working all the locks on the drawers. The large flat desk top has vintage green felt on the writing surface with a center drawer below with divided compartments and four locking drawers on each side of the knee hole area. This desk is equally lovely on all of its sides so therefore could be a free standing desk in the middle of a room or office. It comes to us from an 78 year old lady who acquired it from her mothers old barn. The stuff she brought us had been stored and untouched for at least 40 years. The secretary was rough planed and you can still see the circular saw marks(see pictures) The circular saw was invented in 1830s. So the secretary was made no earlier than 1830. USS Charleston 1890's Eastlake Front Desk
Here is a real piece of history. Off the USS Charleston an American Naval Battleship. If this piece could talk, what story's it could tell. There is only one other desk that is known to exist so far and the workmanship is no comparison to this one. A lot of beautiful brass work with good patina. On the back of this desk is stamped: Wardroom St. Room No. 6, Wt. 272 Lbs. USS Charleston. The desk is 49" tall, 38" across, and 22" deep. The desk seems to be the right age for the Charleston and most likely it was purchased from a sale of items scraped out during 1930. That year she was sold and stripped to the water line to be used as a breakwater ship at Powell River, British Columbia Canada. The desk has a removable top. Two pedestal bases, eight drawers, and two writing pull-outs. Please note the Eastlake design on the face of the drawers. This is a rare and unusual feature for raised panel oak desks similar to the one I am selling. Antique Eastlake Walnut Secretary Desk - Late 1800s
This is an Eastlake secretary from the late 1800s. I think. It's solid wood construction, mostly walnut with walnut burl panels, very tasteful Eastlake geometric details, original wavy glass and beautiful original patina. Three adjustable shelves in the top book case; drop-down writing surface with original felt, two drawers, file bins and pigeon holes; one fixed self in the base. The two locks work with a replacement key, but they are a little sticky, and one of the rosettes that covers the writing panel pivot is missing. Measures: 42 x 85 x 11.5 top, 20 base. I bought this from a private party in DC about 20 years ago and now I'm downsizing a bit, so I hope it finds a good home. Trying to get someone to help move this away from the wall so that I can take pictures of the back. There is the stagecoach information where this traveled from the east coast to the west coast. I believe it says in 1864. Its been a few decades since I saw it back there. The skeleton key locks the cabinet. No one walks in my door without commenting on it.
