My earliest memories of it date back to the 1970s when we lived in NYC and it was in his private study. It is in excellent condition with signs of use on the burgundy leather working area on top which also has a couple of stains. A competent furniture restorer can easily replace this leather piece but I would order a replacement directly from Rinck to preserve the desk's heritage. The following information was supplied by Rinck in reply to my recent email inquiry regarding the desk's provenance: Dear Sir, I can confirm that desk is coming from our company and Parisian work shop. I can not be more precise about the year. Because all client's files are archived, but: It is a Louis XV style desk, traditionally manufactured with a solid oak structure, with mortaises and tenons joined, hand dovetail joins for the drawers, black lacquered finishing, ornate with sand casted, chiseled, and ormolu set of bronze. The round UNIFA stamp on the underside of the desk is there to assure the desk has respectability and was constructed to the standards of the Professional Union. The UNIFA stamp also confirms your desk is from the period between 1960 and 1980. Because after it would have been stamped"Groupement ébénisterie d'art" As Rinck at this period was only working on

Antique Lap Desk: American, Federal Period
This is an extremely rare American Made grain painted slope from the 1780-1800 Period. Almost all the slopes in this period were imported from England and just a few from France. It is all original including lock(no key) Handles, hinges, and finishes. The only contemporary component is the covering on the wiriting board which was carefully chosen to duplicate the original fabric which was disintegrated when we purchased this box some two years ago(a swath of the original material is include for comparison) The condition of the box is very interesting. It shows years of use and some of it hard use. Wood is worn to groves and polished sufaces by the passing of fingers. Ink stains substantial portions of the interior wood, grease stains are evident, penciled numbers are writen on the back of the writing boards. And, five receipts and notes dating ... morefrom 1866 to 1871 have been shellacked to the back of one of the writing boards. The notes refer to purchase of horse hardware and trips with wagons to various destinations indicating that this box at one time was owned by a teamster. Surely this was the property or a fairly well to do individual initially as were most of these artifacts when new. It appears that it transitioned over time to be a working box for a person who drove horses for a living. I am sure that if only it could talk it indeed would tell some interesting stories both about our post colonial period not to mention our Civil War period. All the brass are of the proper hand made varieties for the period and the basic material of the box is white pine. Suggesting a North Atlantic origin. One of a kind for the seriouse collector of slopes. Classic 19"X10"X7" measurements. Antique Georgian Federal(?) Secretary Slant Front Desk Four Drawer Bureau 1840
Family lore has it that this was made in 1840 but I don't know for sure. This was my father's father and. Given to me but I'm headed to. South America and none of our children want it. All the drawers and top are joined. With dovetails at the corners. All the drawer bottoms have chamfered. Ends that fit into a tight track in the drawer. Sides. I'm guessing that drawer facewood. Is cherry(mahogany? and hinder parts of drawers made from boxwood. All the drawers fit precisely. The large drawers have grooves worn in them. From riding over guidance rails in the front of. The drawer entry points(see pics) It looks like. This was by design to accommodate the heavy. Drawers(which are prob mahogany. Not cherry) Veneer is poor in several areas. Esp the slope top front. The back view pic shows two arrows pointing out the width of a single ... moreboard which is a whopping 21 1/2 inches wide. Included in this pic at the bottom are shown. The three pieces of molding that need to be glued back onto the'ankles' The brass balls in the feet at each corner rotate. Nicely but the 2 x 2 inch wood stock that the casters are attached to have a nasty habit of coming loose. And need to be re-attached. This happened today. In fact, as I was rolling the 200 lb desk back inside after the photo shoot. I'll put it back in place with some wood screws. Before sending it out. No idea what it'll cost to freight so I'll guess. $150.00. This is just a ballpark and I'll work. With the winning bidder to get the best freight. Rate. If it's too much. We can cancel the transaction. And I'll start over. hopefully a little wiser. Successful bidder may. Of course, pick up locally. I can deliver in my station wagon for 89 cents per. Mile one way(I eat the return mileage) In other words. If you live 100 miles away. From 19525. It'd cost $89.00(plus any tolls) To have the desk brought to your door. I tried the eBay affiliated'Uship' to India on a chair but the auction to get a price took a week. And no ship

Great Antique Pennsylvania Federal Sheraton Cherry Slant Front Desk Ca. 1810's
Fine Antique Lancaster County. PA Federal Sheraton Cherry Slant Front Desk 1820 100% Untouched Original Condition! This desk is straight out of the house. In excellent fine condition. 4 graduated drawers flanked by turned columns. Resting on turned feet. Great Size! 38" wide. Again which is not normal. most desks are 41" to 43" wide, this one is quite narrow. Dovetailed case. TOP, AND BOTTOM! it is rare to find these chests/desks dovetailed, let alone the base and top dovetailed. Solid Cherry Case. Again, its a very early sheraton piece, most sheraton desks have paneled sides, this is solid sides indicating it was made slightly after 1800 to about 1810 to 1815. Dovetailed drawer construction. Cherry slant lid. With Flame Burl Mahogany veneer front. Pine Drawer Fronts. With Mahogany Cockbeading, and Mahogany Flame Burl Veneers ... moreand Poplar sides, and bottoms. Cherry. Mahogany veneers, Pine drawer fronts with mahogany veneers, and Poplar Secondary woods. The interior has a prospect door that opens to reveal 4 drawers. Tiger maple turned column drawers next to the prospect door. drawers slide great on the ORIGINAL drawer slides. EARLY 19C ENGLISH ADAMS MAHOGANY FEDERAL DESK~HANDPTD BEAUTY~BEST ON EBAY~SUPER
EARLY 19C ENG. ADAMS MAHOGANY FLORAL PAINTED DESK~GORGEOUS~BEST ON EBAY~SUPER I am in love with this piece and have NO more room for another antique. We have downsized and this one just can't fit. If my children were into antiques. I would give it to them. When do they learn? This piece came from a marvelous Gold Coast mansion on Long Island. If you email I will tell you where; however the owners did not want their name public. The secretary or desk measures 62 1/2" high. 37 1/2" wide and 2 foot deep. Painting is so extrodinary and beautifully done, no repro junk or someone who wanted to beautify something.this is ALL original from England. Just not enough words to say how pretty or how pictures do it NO justice. I do not sugarcoat my descriptions, see the painting and detail with bell flowers going down the legs.it's just ... moretoo lovely to describe. The inside is amazing. The old mirror door in middle has 5 gold leaf pictures of horseheads painted in each corner. This is an early mirror and no replacement. The small drawers have carved bone. can't say the word it really is or eBay will have the animal activists make us take it off the net even though it is from very early 1800s) knobs. I wish our younger generation had more common sense! The mahogany has a natural shine and patina, just lovely. It is STURDY like a rock, nothing wobbly, just pure quality that has been taken care of over the years. Shipping. Naturally has to be professional, so please ask for a quote or we can even put it on uship.com and wait for a good quote. The weather will be breaking and the shippers will come to their senses with quotes. I can ship very reasonable to New England along I-95 going right on down to the eastern shore and Washington, D.C. area, as long as it is not too far off I-95. Just ask away, you might be pleasantly surprised. We go down as far as New Bedford, Mass. as well. Long Island in Suffolk, Nassau, Queens and Manhatten.again, very reasonable.ASK, ASK and ASK. EARLY ANTIQUE AMERICAN NANTUCKET CHERRY FEDERAL LADIES SECRETARY DESK WITH TAMBOR DOORS Size: 43" wide x 51.75" high and 21.25" deep. A larger size than most of the period. This piece was attributed to Nantucket circa 1800-1810 by an appraiser in 1971. A handsome well made piece of furniture with an inlaid door of flowers and vines. Reeded pilasters on each side on nicely tapered square legs. Shows shrinkage cracks and the tambor door slides stick at times even though that had been repaired. Large Antique Eastlake Desktop Desk Secretary Organizer Primitive Federal 1800s
WHAT YOU ARE BUYING/BIDDING ON One Antique Desktop Secretary DESCRIPTION This antique desktop secretary organizer is most unique and exceptional. It comes to us from an 78 year old lady who acquired it from her mothers old barn. The stuff she brought us had been stored and untouched for at least 40 years. It was most likely a one of a kind creation from an Ohio farmer or carpenter. The secretary was rough planed and you can still see the circular saw marks(see pictures) The circular saw was invented in 1830s. So the secretary was made no earlier than 1830. There are also cut nails used at most of the jointings. It is very primitive and excellent example of early craftsmanship. CONDITION Overall. This piece is in ok condition for its age. When closed it is structurally very sturdy, but when opened, the front part separates a little. This could ... morebe fixed depending on the purpose of use and desire. Inside it is missing a piece of hardware for the drawer(see pictures) DIMENSIONS measures approx. 29' long x 17' tall x 12' deep PAYMENT The sooner you pay. The sooner you get your item. Attributed to Daniel Trotter, Philadelphia, c.1810 This desk has a striking resemblance to a desk illustrated in Federal Philadelphia. The Athens of the Western World, Beatrice B. Garvan(Plate#20) Note the treatment of the molded sides that hold the tambor and molding just above the legs and drawers. We have seen no other forms like this and its relationship in design et al leads to our attribution. The craftsmanship is top drawer. Interestingly. The party that we acquired this from thought this was a Boston(i.e. Seymour) piece, because of the fine, English style cabinet work. Note the interior ... moredrawers retain their original ivory pulls. The drawer pulls are original, as are the side handles. This desk is of good size. And we picture this in an executive suite, or private study, wherein it can be closed for privacy and easily opened for usage. The drawer slide is truly oversized, and actually makes for good, functional space, as does the adjustable lift top writing surface. Antique Federal Writing Desk in Tiger Mahogany, with Two Small Drawers
Very old. Very classic desk from the early 1800s in, I believe, tiger mahogany. It's not a museum piece but it has been a beloved piece that has been used, with care. I've tried to capture the beauty of the wood on the top in my pictures. All the edges are slightly rounded from use and there are a few minor scratches and nicks, commensurate with its age and use, but its quality shines through. The desk stands. At its tallest point from the backboard to floor, 34" and the desk top is 28 1/2" from the floor. The top is 36" across and 18 1/2" deep, excluding the backboard which adds another 1/2" 19" total) It has two small drawers that sit on each side of the top, 3 1/4" tall, and their platforms measure approximately 10 1/4" by 10 1/4" The outsides of the drawers measures 2 3/8" by 9" ... moreand the insides measures 1 7/8" high by 8 1/4" across by 8 3/4" deep. The desk has its original brass handles but they've seen the greatest wear. With one slightly bent and the other with a small crack. Very similar handles replaced these, as you can see in the last picture. This desk has been in the family for 60 years and has been treasured for the entire time. I'm now having to downsize my mother's estate and I'm hoping someone will love and care for it as we have. I did my best to capture the style and quality in pictures. And to describe the piece as completely as possible, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Please note that any errors or missing information is unintentional. I accept PayPal or cash only. Local pick-up; however. If you have a shipper, I am willing to work with that firm to arrange time and place for pick-up. I myself do not ship as I am an individual, not a business. Please provide payment within three days of purchasing or at pick-up. No returns. If something is amiss. Please alert me by"Contact Seller" rather than leave a low rating. I want to resolve any issues rather than have my custom
