Period details and burl walnut accents on this 19th century desk are just beautiful and this desk is definitely heirloom quality.a beautiful statement piece for your home! This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. ... moreThe cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. Co Pat. The lock is intact but we do not have the key. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. The left offers a stack of four storage drawers with period dove-tailed ends and the original pulls. To the right another drawer is found with a storage cabinet below. Antique Walnut Cylinder Desk Victorian Era c. Late 1800's Roll Top Barrel
Outstanding Victorian walnut cylinder desk. This intricately detailed piece has definite Eastlake influences including a decorative grid pattern that borders the panelled sides and back and elaborate scroll decoration below the writing surface. Cylinder top conceals pigeon holes and a pull-out writing surface covered in emerald green felt. Brass hinges. Diamond-shaped escutcheons and rosette-mounted bail handle drawer pulls. One long shallow top drawers as well as three half-size drawers and a generous cabinet space. Dowel construction throughout including the drawers, top and back. The locking mechanisms in the drawers have two patent dates- April, 1875 and August, 1882. No maker's marks. Over all this piece is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. One of the back feet looks like it has been repaired. See picture. Solid walnut with burl panels. The lustrous finish is in excellent condition. The roll top is matched burl, it has a long dent across the center, see photos. Inside is a pull out writing surface with a"brand" mark in the saddle leather. There are small cubicles and drawers for papers. The removable bookcase upper section has original wavy glass in the doors. Shelves adjust on wooden supports and the lock and key still work. Drop by check it out. Nice desk with nicks dings and condition to be expected. You will like it if these are what you are looking for. Some had bookcases set on top. Some did not. This would have had one but I have had this for years with no top. Now it's time to let it go. I will be happy to sell you a couple of clocks for the top shelf and they will look great on there. Awesome desk with the cabinet modesty panel in the center of bottom section, all original hardware on the drawer bottom and on the full interior section. It has killer burl walnut panels on the surfaces and the back is paneled out so it could be set in the middle of the room and be beautiful. Victorian cylinder or barrel roll- top secretary desk and bookcase - 1800's
Antique high top desk/bookcase. The top and bottom come apart at base of glass door book case. This is a warm- toned walnut wood with burled walnut panels. My parents purchsed this as an antique in the 1950's from previous elderly owners- not antique store. They did not replace any of the hardware or the glass during the time they owned it and I believe these to be the original. But have no way of telling- glass has tiny bubbles, but I don't see a wave. The desk appears to be in good condition. The top of the desk pulls out for a writing surface. The writing surface is rough on top and some of the drawers have ink stains. as mentioned- this item has pretty much been left in original state. This is a very attractive and interesting piece. Nice Antique Walnut Victorian Cylinder Roll Secretary This is a nice walnut antique Victorian cylinder roll secretary.This nice secretary is being sold in as purchased out of an estate condition It is an antique so.Therefore, it is not flawless. It is in good condition for the age. The secretary needs a little TLC. In the picture it looks like there is a gap between the roll and the desk side but there is not I just did not have the cylinder part of the desk down on the peg where it rests on the desk. There is some minor wood working that needs to be done. A few of the ears need to be fixed and the desk needs to have a writing surface made. There are 2 shelves for the secretary part and it has the other back piece that goes behind the cylinder roll. It was removed so that the insert could be taken out for the picture. This is a antique Eastlake style Victorian Oak roll top secretary cylinder desk that dates from the late 1800s. Made from solid oak(NO VENEER) and in very good condition with some light scratches and rubs from age and use. Measures 42 1/4" tall. 34 1/8" wide and 21 1/2" deep. A nice space saver desk. All drawers slide in and out good and the slide out writing desk top slides in and out very good as well.Appears to have been refinished at one point in time and the handles are not original to the desk. Victorian Eastlake 1840 Cylinder Roll Top Secretary Desk, Bookcase Top
Trying to get someone to help move this away from the wall so that I can take pictures of the back. There is the stagecoach information where this traveled from the east coast to the west coast. I believe it says in 1864. Its been a few decades since I saw it back there. The skeleton key locks the cabinet. No one walks in my door without commenting on it.

Solid walnut with burl panels. The lustrous finish is in excellent condition. The roll top is matched burl, it has a long dent across the center, see photos. Inside is a pull out writing surface with a"brand" mark in natural saddle leather. There are small cubicles and drawers for papers. The removable bookcase upper section has original wavy glass in the doors. Shelves adjust on wooden supports and the lock and key still work.
