The carvings. Period details and burl walnut accents on this 19th century desk are just beautiful and this desk is definitely heirloom quality.a beautiful statement piece for your home! This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. The cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. Co Pat. The lock is intact but we do not have the key. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. The left offers a stack of four storage drawers with period dove-tailed ends and the original pulls. To the right another drawer is found with a storage cabinet below. The lock is missing from the cabinet door. 19th C. Walnut Victorian Wooten Rotary Desk
This desk is in excellant condition. There is a small piece of trim missing from bottom right. The oil cloth is not original, it is black leather. It is dusty in picture but will clean up. The cubbies are origional drawers made of cardboard with metal pulls. the wood is in great condition and does not need refinishing.

For your consideration, this fabulous and very impressive Tall Victorian Rococo Flame Mahogany Secretary with Arched Bookcase Top(Circa: 1860) This gorgeous two-piece Secretary weighs approximately 170 pounds and measures 102 ½” in total height(from the floor to the arched top of the crown) 44 ¼” in width, and 20 ½” in depth. The three adjustable shelves each measure 9” in depth and 41 ¼” in width. This is truly one of the most beautiful Victorian Secretaries of its kind that we have had the privilege to offer. You will notice that there is some faint writing on the back of the piece(see the e-Bay photo) that probably indicates either the maker or the person for whom the piece was made. This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. The left offers a stack of four storage drawers with period dove-tailed ends and the original pulls. To the right another drawer is found with a storage cabinet below. The lock is missing from the cabinet door. Antique Victorian Oak Gothic Revival Butlers Desk Mid 1800's
Beautiful Oak Butlers Desk from the middle of last century(1840's to 1870's) Nice condition with some minor issues that you would expect from being used over the last century and a half. Oak is the main wood with Walnut and Birds Eye Maple as the secondary(drawer fronts and desk top) Needs a cleaning and a light touch up but otherwise a great desk that would make a statement in your home! Scuffing along the bottom where the shoes would be as you sat there and one spot on the top(picture 11) Light scratching along the front and top as normal wear would occur. Tall Antique Victorian Oak Cylinder Desk Carved Secretary Glass Front Shelves
Fantastic Victorian era cylinder top desk. Made from oak with pine secondary woods. Panelled back and sides. The large upper cabinet has flexible. Movable shelves and period glass doors. It rests atop a cylinder or roll top desk area with a small drawer and several pigeon holes. The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper ... morecabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. Outstanding Victorian walnut cylinder desk. This intricately detailed piece has definite Eastlake influences including a decorative grid pattern that borders the panelled sides and back and elaborate scroll decoration below the writing surface. Cylinder top conceals pigeon holes and a pull-out writing surface covered in emerald green felt. Brass hinges. Diamond-shaped escutcheons and rosette-mounted bail handle drawer pulls. One long shallow top drawers as well as three half-size drawers and a generous cabinet space. Dowel construction throughout including the drawers, top and back. The locking mechanisms in the drawers have two patent dates- April, 1875 and August, 1882. No maker's marks. Over all this piece is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. Unusual and Lovely Victorian Partners Mahogany Carved Desk A superior desk in every respect with the classic 9 drawer configuration and original turned bun handles. The reverse has 9 dummy drawers which make the desk appear identical from both sides and it is perfect for sitting centrally in a room with the back on display. The desk has a number of very fine quality ... moredetails including hand carved panels at each flank and either side of the kneehole. The upper panels with etched back and crossed oak leaves on twisted branches and the lower panels of trailed ivy wrapped with ribbon. The upper drawers and side panels are dressed with thickly cut and beautifully flamed mahogany. The overhung rounded top is inset with an olive green leather in very good condition with gold tooled and embossed edge detail and gold leaves to each corner. All of the drawers open and close smoothly and have good strong interiors with dovetailed joints. The escutcheons are original throughout. The desk dismantles into three sections- two pedestals and top and has an unusual mechanism whereby the top slots down into the pedestals and wraps around the front- so that it looks very much as though it is made in one piece when all together. Condition: there are minor dings and veneer repairs here and there to the working drawers and some very fine and old grain cracks which are stable and not going anywhere. This is a beautiful solid black walnut slant top writing desk. Circa 1810.The figured walnut top is very rich and beautiful with its grain patterns,rich walnut tones and beauty marks. I rescued this diamond in the rough. It had many many coats of white paint hiding this beautiful black walnut wood. I lovingly& meticulously hand restored this desk back to full glory. I restored the finish with many. Many coats of hand rubbed shellac, maintaining the antique warm glow, rubbed to a silky smooth yet allowing the beautiful grain textures to be felt.There was a trim around the back of the top which was missing, I custom made this new back rail trim using reclaimed 200 year old black walnut. The drawer pulls are from a 200 year old dresser and are solid walnut hand carved pulls. The harp shaped end is gorgeous as you can easily see with its ... morecone shaped finial on the end of the hand turned support which joins it to the drawer base.The slant top is fixed in position. There is no lid that lifts up, this was designed as a writing desk, dating back to the quill pen days. There is an age shrinkage split in the top which I chose not to restore. It gives great character to this lovely piece. The drawer locks are missing.I restored all the drawers, carefully taking them all apart and regluing them all and now they are rock solid and slide excellently. Full depth drawers with lots of storage.The desk is finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed anywhere in a room. The recessed flat panel sides are a great design. Adding to the beauty. I purposefully left some character marks remain in this desk such as tiny chip of wood,left top edge) pinholes etc, they give this desk awesome character, I was not trying to create a reproduction piece I try and respect the antique with all of its age, history and character. This is a solid walnut carved art- nouveau/craftsman- styled desk which is finished on all four sides. I am estimating it was made between 1895-1915. When this style was gaining popularity. However, this kind of desk is extremely RARE. Especially since it is finished on all four sides. The very first photo has the front finished side with the five drawers/cabinets, and the other side has the identical carvings but with no drawers(last photo listed) There are also two different close-ups of either side of the most carved part, photos 2 and 7. The very first picture is a photo of the desk without the red felt covering, which was replaced recently after it was discovered through restoration work that the original top of the desk was red felt originally. This desk was bought at an auction of an old Pasadena home, where it"lived" for ... morea great number of years. There is slight peeling of the top walnut veneer but it can be easily repaired. It is typical to the early victorian era and would look well in an old or modern property amongst similar painted furniture. The desk stands on a square plinth supporting the main section where there are two large drawers eitherside of the kneeehole. Above the kneehole there is a further drawer and two drawers to the side so a total of seven drawers. We have fitted new knobs to these drawers which can either be waxed or painted in a contrasting colour if required. The top is in good condition with a bull nosed edge and the leather is truly stunning being beautifully worn in places ... moreand is a lovely rich green colour that is a lovely feature. The leather I feel is perfect having many marks howver if you do require a new leather I do know of a company that will supply one. We have painted it in a lovely light blue paint. Rubbed back the edges and waxed it giving it a stunning patina. The height is 81cm. The width is 107cm and the depth is 49cm. Upon original brass and porcelain generously sized castors, into the main body featuring five drawers with mahogany linings and original turned knobs. With a rich complexion and a striking grain. Satinwood string inlays and flame mahogany crossbanding adorn the fall, providing a lovely contrast. ... moreEach drawer features hand-cut dovetails and solid brass pulls. The brass escutcheons, while quite attractive, no longer house functioning locks. Each side has developed a separation in the mahogany as part of the wood's natural aging process; these age separations are purely cosmetic and don't affect the structural integrity of the piece. During a past restoration, a line of black stain was applied to these separations to complement the actual dark inlay around the bottom. The fall has also become uneven over the years and has sustained some wear to the corners but remains, like the rest of this piece, very sturdy. Finally there are a number of minor wear marks and the back feet were also replaced during the restoration. Overall this antique bureau remains in very good condition and would make a fine addition to any home or office furniture collection! The carving details and burl accent panels on this piece are beautiful! This desk measures a total height to the top of the gallery back is 65 inches. Height to the top display shelf is 60 inches, total width measures 36 inches and depth at the base measures 18 1/2 inches and this fine desk weighs approximately 95 lbs. The top desk portion lift off the base portion(cabinet& drawers) allowing easier handling during moving and shipping. This desk offers a wonderful top display shelf with a carved rosette at the center of the gallery.there is an old repair to the right side carved shelf end which I have shown a close-up of in the pictures.repair seems solid and tight. The ... moreshelf is raised up by open carved scroll shelf supports flanking the sleek slender gallery on the desk top. The slant front desk offers a raised shaped panel of burl walnut at the center with its the lock intact on the desk but we do not have the key. Opening the desk reveals a large green felt writing surface with birdseye maple front storage drawers. Desk cubbies and a sloped carved out area for pens(close-up does show an age crack in the pen tray) Height from the writing surface to the floor measures 31 inches. Below the desk is a large storage drawer with a burl walnut front, the original carved pulls and early hand-cut dove-tailed ends. The lock is also present on the drawer.but no key. The cabinet below offers double doors each having the same decorative panels of burl walnut as the slant front portion of the desk, the lock on the cabinet door is no longer present. We believe this piece to also have its original casters intact on all four feet to aid in easier movement within your home. This is a magnificent.
