Rare Antique Walrus Seal Leather Suitcase Travel Case NR!
This is a wonderful antique walrus or seal leather suitcase with original hardware and leather straps. Handle& buckles. It is in remarkable condition for it's age! Nothing is missing as far as I know. It measures aprx. 22 1/2" x 13" I would describe it as a large suitcase, please see pic with wine bottle for best reference. I listed it in this category because of lack of choices, I believe they are pre 1900. I do not see a makers mark, there is a name on the front closures hardware but I can't make it out, there is also patents pending on the front latch and I think the number 118(can't be certain about the numbers) The inside looks nice too. I do not know what the material is that the inside is lined with. It is clean, no strange or musty smells that I detect. Looks like all the original straps& buckles are ... morethere for the inside as well. There is a section that snaps in the center of the case that looks like it is for papers or maps or something to keep rather stiff, please see pics. The leather on the outside is very nice with a wonderful antique patina, I have not cleaned it, I will leave that to buyers preference. There are some white spots and wear, that now looks like a light brownish suede rather that the grain leather, again please see pic. I believe the white spots are typical of leather and can be removed with a cleaner/conditioner. I am selling it as used and as is. I am also selling separately, it's mate, a smaller square(more of a hard shell case) they are a set. This is a large heavy suitcase hence the shipping charge. Vintage Leather Trunk Suitcase Coffee Table Antique Made in England
Manufactured by W.H.Smith. This vintage English Trunk has amazing British character and charm. Measuring 33” long, 14 ½” wide, and 13” deep, it is made of rich brown leather exhibiting a natural patina that warms with age. You are bidding on/ buying an ANTIQUE 1920s GENUINE COWHIDE LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK. I come across quite a few suitcases. I have yet to see one in as good a shape. And as unique a design as this one. It is the size of a small suitcase. But shaped like a trunk. It measures 24 inches across the front 13 1/2 inches deep, and 10 inches tall. It has steamer style straps. Silver accent hardware, all original. It almost has a walrus or elephant texture to the hide of the material. You can see the patterning up close in photo 12. The top part of this piece expands up about 3 inches if you fill it to do so. If not it sits flat. Photos 8& 11. There are 2 straps around the case. In great condition. On the front of the case there is a lock latch, and 2 securing latches. All 3 in good order. Inside looks good. All the straps there are in great shape ... moretoo. Up for sale is an old rounded black and brown suitcase. It is 18" wide. 17" tall and 9" deep. It has a handle on the top and a snap lock, with other hinges on the sides. I do not have a key to actually lock the case, but you can open and close the snap closure. The inside is a blue pattern cloth and it does have some stains. The outside has some scratches and dings, and the brown trim is a little rough. It is still structurally sound and has a great look. This auction is for a pretty cool storage case. It was used to store hats as this case still has the center snap-on insert in the middle which is rare. It is black in color and has the look of leather however I think that the leather is a faux leather except for the handle which I believe is real leather. It has a good look to it. Could be used for many purposes. It is solid and can hold some weight. It has a Corbin lock and a blue and gold floral pattern interior. A pretty neat old piece. For your consideration.An Antique and very Vintage entirely leather,and leather cornered) suitcase and or as once called, motoring trunk"Determined age is most likely from between 1920- 1950.It has much character, and functions as originally intended, minus the key for the brass push lock.Obviously well made enough to last till this day,it is all leather including all 8 corners.The lock, buckles,snaps, and rivets are all brass, or brass plated.There is a detailed border striping around the top and each side, and the liner inside is still intact.The stitching is very heavy and I do not see one area on the entire item that has unraveled.Upon searching the in& outside, I was only able to come up with 3 identifiable marks.The latches on each end are made by Corbin, the lock has the letter"A" just above the key hole, and the ... morenumber 8 is embossed into the leather on the rear panel.A name and address from the previous owner is written in ink on the left rear corner,which has only a route& box listed, no street address.Item came from a rural area.No cleaning has taken place on this item,only wiped down to remove surface dust, and swept nicely on the inside.There is one strip of leather& buckle for the inside top panel that is missing,and the outside belt on the left front side is worn, almost detached. For auction is a fascinating antique black chest that is 12.5 inches wide. 12.5 inches deep and 7.5 inches tall. It has a hinged lid with two fastening clasps on the handle side. The inside is lined with a kind of gray felt. Given the interior partitions, I wish I knew exactly what this chest was designed to hold. Perhaps you know. I cannot determine precisely the composition of the chest walls. Each corner has a protective metal corner and metal brads hold the case/chest together. The hinges have the word"Corbin" on them. The handle appears to be leather coated with a stitched seam. The case is sturdy and sound with no holes, but it does have excessive wear: dents, rusting, staining, scratches. We have an excellent condition cedar lined trunk by the Whittle Trunk& Bag Company of Knoxville. TN. This is a Cedarobe trunk. This trunk has 4 cedar drawers on the right side and the left side has wood hangers and a removable small suitcase that matches. Overall this trunk is in remarkably great condition for its age. I do not know the exact date it was made. This trunk is antique and will not be perfect. The trunk measures 40 ¾ inches tall, 21 5/8 inches side to side and 24 ¼ inches front to back. Beautiful Antique Suitcase w/ Antique travel stickers 1930's-40's
I'm not a pro. But my guess is that this beautiful suitcase is from the 1930's-40's. It's not in perfect condition, as it was found deep within my late Grandfather's garage. There was nothing in it besides a few cobwebs(which I gently removed) and a single button. The button is still in the case. I believe there quite the story behind this suitcase, hence the stickers on it, and it's age. Its got that Antique smell and perfect patina. Any questions, feel free to ask. RARE ANTIQUE 1910s SUITCASE w/Compartments & Ephemera Needs Restoration MUST SEE
This is a rare and awesome antique suitcase. Dating to the Edwardian Era It is leather(I think) over wood? cardboard? with metal corners, studs, latches and many compartments-this may have been a salesman's sample case This wonderful piece of luggage measures 20" x 17" x 7 3/4" deep; it locks. But alas, there is no key; it has a couple of small compartments with doors, a flip down door section that will hook closed, a lift-out tray and various divided sections, some with brackets designed to hold something(bottles, perhaps? and it has iron support bars on the bottom-this piece is very heavy and when I first lifted it. I thought it was full of stuff, but when I opened it, it was as you see it in the photos-just the paper items inside Inside. Found underneath the lift-out tray was some old ephemera/paperwork, including an ... moreold tattered cabinet-type photo, a car order for a used car, dated 1918, some other odd bits& pieces and a receipt-one piece is dated 1917. So that gives some idea of the age of this suitcase-this paperwork was folded up and creased-I unfolded it for the photos-I will include it with the suitcase as it came with it and is fun to look at(By the way. The car was a used touring car and sold for a whopping $400.00! Now. As for condition: This suitcase is very. Very old and looks it. The leather is stained. Spotted and split in places; the brass? metal is tarnished, pitted and discolored; the inner lining fabric is torn/spotted/worn in places-please see all of the photos to judge condition and appearance-this piece is in need of restoration to return it to closer to its original condition. But, that said, it is a really cool piece of history and it would make an awesome period display piece even left as it is; it would also be good as a Halloween or photo prop. Great Antique HARTMANN suitcase. Trunk, chest. With KEY! Brown with riveted metal trim. This very old suitcase is brown in color with light brown metal trim. The metal trim is riveted all around. The handle is brown leather. And it's hardware brass. Suitcase includes it's original key! All latches still close and lock easily though the right side lock could use a slight adjustment. The chest also has all its original straps and hardware on inside. Trunk measures approx. 25 in. from side to side. 18 in. From front to back and 8 in. tall. Suit case inside is 4 1/4 in. deep. The item weighs just under 12 pounds. The inside of this lovely old trunk is actually pretty clean considering its age.
