It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Large Flat Top Steamer Trunk Nice. Sturdy well made, beautifully restored Steamer Trunk. Newly refinished in a unique antiqued brown. Oak slats have been sanded and stained in a rich red mahogany and coated with polyurethane. My goal with this one is to make it look untouched, but still have a clean usable antique. The interior is newly finished as well. Stripped, sealed and covered in a deep brown felt, no old trunk smell! The handles are original. And still look very nice. It doesn't appear to have ever had wheels on the bottom. Bottom is also refinished. Note: the top has 2 cracks. See pictures, it does not seem to affect the structural integrity, and could be reinforced from the inside if desired. It would make a great coffee table or end table! It measures 12 inches by about 9 and weighs over 10 3/4 pounds of brass. The brass is put together with rivets for strength on all sides. It was designed by a German immigrant, Herman Schmarsow of New York City. The patent date and number are on the bottom of the box. It was patented as a Safety Jewelry Chest. What is amazing about this old strongbox is that it has a built in motion sensor alarm system. Under the brass plate on the bottom is an alarm with an arm that would strike the side of the box with a loud clanging noise if the box was lifted. Moving the alarm pin on the underside. This is a very nice refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 24 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 21 inches. There are some common or typical distress marks on this trunk. These include older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. The majority of all trunks have distress marks of some nature like this one. Local pick up only.

This tall attractive chest offers a tremendous amount of storage possibilities with classic style and elegance. This chest features floral and shell carvings. Original mirror and hardware and a working locks with the key, with the original casters intact on all four feet. This chest measures a total height from the floor to the top of the mirror of 69 1/2 inches. Height from the floor to the top of the chest measures 48 inches, chest measures 38 inches wide and 22 inches deep and weighs approximately 145 lbs. The original beveled mirror measures 27 1/2 inches wide by 17 1/2 inches in height. The original beveled mirror is in fine antique condition with only some slight cloudiness and pivots from to back to adjust viewing ... moreangle. This chest has an Early Patent Date of"Aug. 26, 1924" and the final date reads"March 9, 1926" These dates as well as others are indented on the bottom as well. This may have been a salesman sample of a larger size chest that was identical to this smaller chest. This is only my guess however. This chest measures when closed 4 and 1/2" tall by 12 and 3/4" long by 8 and 1/2" wide. On the interior there is a green felt fabric as well as a gold lace trim. There are the letters" K E V N" stuck to the interior section plastic dividers. This appears to be a modern add on for someone who owned this before. Up for consideration is a nice size Stagecoach antique trunk that has been restored. It has been cleaned well inside and out. The wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. It os all original exccept for the handles were replaced with new leather ones. The inside was recovered so no musty smells. It does have some minor dings and stress cracks. But this only adds to the characture of this 150 year old trunk. It would be Great for a blanket chest. The measurements are; 30" long x 17" wide x 18" tall. Restored 1940's Italian Chest Offered here is a very inlaid Italian style chest. We believe it to be from the 1940's. Give or take a decade. It has been restored and is in excellent condition as you can see from the many photos. Not one but two keys are included with this piece. The drawers on this piece glide very easily. Much of this piece has a very desirable'crackle' or crazed finish that can only be obtained from age. The photos did not show this. However you should be aware that this piece has a beautiful aged look. The top is in great shape with only a couple small imperfections that are not easily seen without getting very close to the piece. This chest really shows nicely. Antique Eastern European Hungarian Wedding Blanket Chest Carved Painted C.1853
Rustic and primitive. This antique wedding chest is a true gem. With original iron hardware, and lightly carved detail, this pine chest dates to around 1850. The face of the chest features two carved panels with exquisite geometric detail. There are painted elements ensconced in a wreath motif, but we are not able to decipher the original image. The craved detail is also featured on the top of the lid, along with the fasteners for the original iron hardware. The lid lifts to reveal a pine interior. The interior surface of the lid gives clues to the life and history of this unique piece. There are pencil marks and writing in what appears to be Hungarian. We also found the remnant of a decal with the word'szivem' on it. Szivem translates from Hungarian to English as'my dear one. fitting for a marriage chest. The lid is also marked ... morewith the years 1853, 1856, 1861, and 1867. Perhaps the notations were made as the piece changed hands? We believe this to be the original paint. It had a blue gray surface hue. With bittersweet side panels. This folk art piece is in fair to good condition. It is structurally sound, though shows its age through cosmetic issues like worn sides and deterioration of the painted surface. While the hinges and side handles are original, the center lock is no longer in place. The chest measures 35" in length. 17" in height, and has a depth of about 20 1/2" We are offering this piece for'local pickup only. Up for sale is this beautiful antique dome top steamer trunk with ornate embossed metal and a working key. It measures 32" long by 18" wide and 21" tall. The exterior of this trunk was cleaned. The wood slats sanded, stained with minwax"golden oak" then the entire trunk was sealed with spar urethane. The interior lining was removed then the wood was sanded and stained with minwax"golden oak" as well. This trunk shows some wear from age and has some minor flaws i.e. one of the hinges is broke(does not effect the stability, very functional) overall the trunk is in very good condition. This is a neat old toy box with original red paint and prints of pirates on the lid It is 28 inches long x 16 3/4 inches wide x 9 1/2 inches tall This chest has some trim pieces missing on the lid and front middle it has 4 sections on the inside. The large section in front 27 1/2 inches x 10 inches, it appears there was a divider in the center of this section at one time The 3 sections in the back are all 6 inches deep. 2 are 10/12 inches, the other is 5 1/2 inches. There are finger holes on the sides for carrying. The chain that holds the lid from falling back is partially missing. This chest is the perfect piece to use when mixing old and new in any design scheme. With ample storage in three drawers. It is sturdy enough to hold all of your clutter and components. Beautiful Rare 1927 Antique Lane Cedar Hope Blanket Chest Style# 48910 This Lane Hope Chest was made on May. 9th 1927 In 1912 John Edward Lane bought a small packing-box plant in Altavista. Virginia at a bankruptcy auction for $500. Placed in charge of the small, corrugated iron building, his son Edward Hudson Lane decided to convert the facility in order to make cedar chests. The Lane family was unsure of what success they would have selling chests, so they originally named the company The Standard Red Cedar Chest Co. The firm manufactured and sold chests used to store linens and other items for setting up housekeeping, as well as keepsakes. Early production of about ten chests a day was sold through independent salesmen working on commission. In its early days. The business was run on a shoestring budget. Nearby buildings were rented as ... moredemand grew, with finished parts transferred from one building to another by means of a mule-drawn carriage. This has it's original shoe feet still intact. I was told that the family brought this from Massachusetts to Indiana. And later to California. This was made with hand forged square iron nails. And retains ... moreit's original hinges and screws. It is stencil signed by the maker. C. Earle 3 times on the bottom. This is a very cool vintage trunk. It makes a great decorative piece that you can use to organize your extra stuff. It has no key but a flat head screw driver works just fine in the lock.
