It's 20 inches long. 12 inches wide and 11 inches tall. You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. Except for the handles, trunk actually had the handles when I got it, but they were dry rotted, and became even more damaged in the process of conserving. so I did replace them, now they are great Also replaced was the bottom of the tray. The original bottom was coming loose from tray, and was cracked, so to make this trunk as fully functional as possible I thought it best to do it right! The inside of the trunk has been stripped clear of the inside paper. This is great b/c it gets rid of all old smells many old trunks hold it also makes the trunk free of many allergens the trunk has been left natural. The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried ... morein the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. Measuring 30ins(76cms) wide x 17ins(43cms) deep x 10.5ins(27cms) high, it is a traditional steamer type trunk having protective bands on the edges and corners and twin catches at the front with a central lock and clasp and a leather carrying handle. It is finished in a blue colour with an attractive patina to it. The catches work well but there is no key for the central lock. I nternally it has the original lining material and a lift out shirt tray. It is in good general condition but has a few signs of use as one might imagine. With scuffs, nicks, scratches and so on and one corner has had a thump at some point in the past. Very old hand made tin chest from old reused metal sheets and riveted together. Paint has been removed to reveal lovely patination and wear. Large Vintage Trunk - C.1920's Ideal Stage Prop. Interior Design. Coffee Table
For Sale I have this fantastic Vintage Travel Chest measuring 20.5 inches across. 16.5 inches wide, and 15 inches deep, and made by the Flaxite Foundation circa. 1920, so British Made, and probably tied in with the Papworth Industries who I think made them, and another suitcase I listed earlier. This is a great rectangular box shape. Very sturdy and solid, internally and externally lined with flax, with thick leather corner protectors& an incredibly solid leather handle. The outer covering is a lovely well worn brown colour, with solid bronzed clasps that work perfectly, but are sadly without keys. Internally is a clear cream check. This is a very well used packing case. And shows masses of wear and character. It has"U. S. in large black letters on two sides, and would look ideal on a western stagecoach, or paddle steamer.

Measuring 27ins(69cms) wide x 9ins(23cms) high x 11ins(27cms) wide, it is a traditionally constructed chest with nicely interlaced corner joints, a couple of hinged clasps to the front and two sound, solid brass, hinges to the rear. It is finished with an antique wax over the original dark varnish and has a nice sheen to it. It is constructed with pine sections to the front. Back and both sides and what looks like plywood for the lid and base. I nternally it has a long thin and angled. Removalable tray to the front and a stout metal stay at eother side. For your consideration is this wonderful vintage cargo trunk in excellent condition. This chest appears to have been hardly used. As it is clean. With only a few scrapes to the hardware on the outside. There is a four inch deep, lift out tray inside with two cutout handles on the end, and two tie down straps to keep your garments or cargo in place during transit. As you can see in the pictures. The inside is a green color, and also notice the clean condition with no spots, stains, holes, or dis-coloration. The outside is ruggedly built with quality hardware, oak runners top and bottom, a metal band around the outside, corner protection, and on each end is a square holder for perhaps a label, or owners information, On the front is a lock, with no key, and a sturdy, thick, brown leather handle strap. The wide steel handles on the ends are spring-loaded ... moreto keep them in place and protect them in transit. The only marks on this trunk are seen on the inside of the lid. I have not been able to find anymore from that name. For other destinations. Please email for a shipping ... morequote. I call this a strap type trunk. Because leather straps would have encircled it in two places. The straps would have buckled at the opening. You can see the leather strap retainers that are still in place. If you want, you can have someone who works leather to make these belt-like straps for you. The top is studded. This is quite unusual in that I've never seen it before myself. It no doubt gave the top some protection from other trunks that would have been stacked on top. I think it is quite a good look. The hardware on the front. Specifically the latches are quite ornate and show that this trunk was made back toward the Victorian era when everything was onamental in design. I figure this trunk was made in the early part of the 20th century and spent a lot of time on railroads and maybe steam ships(the labels certainly bear out the railroad part) Notice the heavy use of studded rivets all along the corner protectors. This shows the quality of the trunk and like the studded top. Improves the overall look. The lock was made by Eagle Lock(see condition note below) I suspect from this that the trunk is American in origin(no makers mark was found on it) Underneath a

He said it was from WW1 era, I can not confirm. It is painted with a wood effect and is beautifully aged in a Shabby chic way. The inside is blue. Some of the paint has been worn off, but it all adds to its character, would look great as a coffee table or side table etc. I researched this trunk and the only others like this I could find were for sale in Europe. Antique Hartman steamer trunk w/ original lock and key, coffee table, vintage
For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! There is an old iron handle at both ends, a central iron clasp, and two solid hinges at the back that come over onto the top. Internally it is plain.Dry and has the original. Hinged lidded candle box with an eye and hook catch.There are,of course, a myriad of very characteful nicks, dinks and scars. No Reserve, This is a lovely aged wooden trunk recently removed from a small cottage property, The wood has an appealing honey coloured patina, The top lid has a naturally occuring crack running across it that in my opinion only adds rather then detracts from its authentic charm. Either end has a metal carrying loop handle. There are black gothic flavoured embedded metal reinforcing corners. The lid clicks down nicely into place but there is no key for the lock, Inside the trunk is lined with Vintage paper. This item has all the knocks and bruises of historical usuage.
