vintage cedar lined hope chest/blanket box - 1900-1950, American, dark wood
This vintage hope chest/blanket box has been in my family for over fifty years. It was given to my mother by an elderly friend in 1963. The exterior is a dark wood matte finish(it needs serious polishing to bring it back) Perhaps cherry, with a cedar interior. It has club feet and is meant to be set against a wall or at the foot of a bed. There are normal signs of wear and tear, which is normal for a piece of furniture in use for over half a century. I have sold my house- so this piece is now in a temperature controlled storage unit. Item has damaged veneer across the front. Vintage Cavalier Cedar Chest Trunk Dark Wood Tone
Cavalier- the Cadillac of Cedar Chests. The Cavalier Cedar Chests have been around for more than 70 years. These are among the best cedar chests and provide long lasting service. Produced in the 1930's by the Tennessee Furniture Company. Considering the age of this chest. The exterior and interior are in great condition. There are only several wear marks. There is a black spot on the lid(see photo) A lock is present, but I do not have a key. The two knobs shown at the bottom need tightening.
