Up for sale is this beautiful antique dome top steamer trunk with ornate embossed metal and a working key. It measures 32" long by 18" wide and 21" tall. The exterior of this trunk was cleaned. The wood slats sanded, stained with minwax"golden oak" then the entire trunk was sealed with spar urethane. The interior lining was removed then the wood was sanded and stained with minwax"golden oak" as well. This trunk shows some wear from age and has some minor flaws i.e. one of the hinges is broke(does not effect the stability, very functional) overall the trunk is in very good condition. He said it was from WW1 era, I can not confirm. It is painted with a wood effect and is beautifully aged in a Shabby chic way. The inside is blue. This is a really neat heavy cast metal lock/latch which I believe came off a very old steamer trunk of sorts. It's in good used vintage condition with some surface wear and tarnish and I believe a tiny crack by the bottom bolt that you can't see from the front and doesn't seem to affect its use whatsoever.please view pictures for any further description/condition. It is gold lined with a velvety material but the ribbon is not attached but could be easily attached to keep the lid from going back too far. The latch on front of chest does need repair and there is one small crack on one of the top slats on top of chest. The slats are wood and the sides. Inside is lined with paper; with unique child's graphic. Sticker inside says" Made in Austria" Description: Trunk measures: 15" x 8 3/4" x 8 1/2" Rounded corners, metal covered, tarnished and aged metal closures. The inside is lined with a heavy paper. The removable tray has compartments for toys and miscellaneous items. The outside middle closure has not been closed since I do not have a key to reopen it. As well as what look like brass corners Leather handles on the sides Dark. Hunter green paint over what seems to be a pressboard or very light wood, possibly pine The chest isn't very heavy for its large size. Which makes it more versatile for you. The box measures 20” x 14” x 6” 51cm x 36cm x15cm and is in excellent original condition. Of the highest quality but is missing its key. Very old all wood 1942 vintage trunk. It has lost most of the paint and someone has put vintage superheroes stickers all over it many. Many years ago. All the hardware is metal including the latches, corners and all the ends. One corner piece is missing. The handles on the sides are wood. All the hinges and latches work. Inside lid reads Shwyder Bros Inc 1942. If you look closely at the pictures of the lid you can see there is also some stencil letter writing. Antique Wood Chest Small Trunk Fabric Covered Worcester Metal Goods Co. Lock Key
The box measures 15.5" x 8.5" x 7.5" and is in good condition for its age. I do not know the maker of the box but the hardware is made by Worcester Metal Goods Co. It is very sturdy and the hinges are holding up well. The fabric is very soft but I am not sure what material it is. It is tearing at some of the edges but is mostly intact. It looks like only one nail is missing and I think it just held the fabric in the corner in place. All of the rivets for the hardware are original and intact. The lock is a little tight but it works well and has the key. The inside feels similar to wallpaper and has some wear and discoloring but is in pretty good shape. Feel free to ask questions. Vintage Small Metal Covered Steamer Trunk Chest w/ vtg TRAVEL STICKERS - unique!
Unique small travel chest. Not sure of the history of this but it is certainly a unique piece! It measures 18x10x10.5" Has a metal skin over wood construction. Metal corner guards protect it from drops and damage. It has some age to it and shows character! It has old travel stickers on it like they used to plaster on luggage back in the day. It has a Bassett lock that is locked. I dont have the key. It does not feel like anything is inside. Feels empty. I am leaving the lock intact versus breaking it open. If you are using it for display the lock does not matter anyway. Part of the fun might be sourcing a key and opening it up! The other two latches operate fine. Looks like it had two leather strap handles that are missing. A top edge guard is also missing. Could be girl or boy, color is in! 30 x 15.5 x 13 and inside with lid open is 9 in. deep Blue with fuchsia trim. minor scuffs on metal trim as its vintage but the inside is pretty pristine.
