Each drawer has the 1892 and 1894 patent date on them.The Library Bureau Sole Makers Company was in business from the early 1880s to about 1925.I guess the library in the 1890s had to be the only gateway to the world and the hands that were in these drawers.Very nice old patina and there are a few issues but not major and easily addressed and fixable with low expense.There is a piece along the right rear back panel which is not really visible from the front.A couple drawers have some cracks and one has a piece of the rear panel gone but every issue is repairable and I have not altered or repaired anything so you are dealing with the original item.No screws or glue added but it could use some skill to keep it original.There was tape used on the exterior over the years and those are the shadows you see in the photographs.The shadow of the ring on the top was put there by the original librarian so I had a place to put my coffee cup.It is a really cool piece and soundly built.Another 100 years is no problem with this guy. Up for auction is this top quality machinists/ jeweler's tool chest. I had been told by a bidder that it was not Gerstner. So I went on a hunt for the maker. Though it does not have a badge, all the details match with Alex Dunn. The drawer profiles, brass) hardware, and unique circle in a square mirror, all match with existing examples of Alex Dunn. Lower drawer bottoms are metal. Upper drawer bottoms are wood. This box comes with the original key! It locks the top, and the top engages throw bolts that lock the cover for the boxes. Great design, and the cases and felts are not in bad shape. Unfortunately, this case has what looks like(a gloppy) coat of polyurathane finish over the outside. This auction is for a very nice and very pretty Older"Bow Front" Mahogany Lingerie Chest from Scotland. This is a very Nice and older four drawer mahogany chest. We see quite a few of these coming over from the UK. Most are nice chest. But they are not that old. A majority are from the late 40's to early 50's. This One Is Not One of Those. It has the older"wide cut dovetailed" joints on all of the drawers that most manufactures stopped using around 1920 to 1925 except for a few that continued to make very high quality items. It also has a very pretty"flamed mahogany" top. It also has a"double beveled edge" top. It has"fluting" on the front edges ans pretty bracket style feet. The top drawer locks and it comes with a key. It is a better made piece of furniture than most we see. Most ... morepeople now use them not only for a Lingerie chest. But also as a bedside cabinet or night stand due to their size and height. The top is 19 5/8" wide and about 16 1/2" deep and it's 27 7/8" tall overall. All of the drawers are 15 3/4" wide X 14" The top two drawers are 3 3/8" deep and the bottom two drawers are 4 1/4" deep. It stands about 5" off the floor on pretty bracket style feet. It has some blemishes to the finish(light or dark spots or marks) as well as some nicks. Dings and scratches on the sides but it's in overall good condition and ready to set out and use and enjoy. Under the top, you can see where it looks like some one tried to"spring" the lock, see pictures below. The pictures of the"flame mahogany" top do not due the unit justice. When looking at it head on, from different angles, it seems to shimmer, just like flames from a fire. In over 12 years of looking at this type of cabinet, I have seen one as nice as this one for it's age and affordable price. Syracuse Cabinet Company cedar chest in very good condition. This comes with the original label inside and is made of maple with solid cedar lining. This comes from my mother's estate and she had a note inside saying this was originally purchased in 1928 and she bought it from the estate of original owners in 1984. There are some slight scratches on top of lid but otherwise in good condition. Measures 45" wide x 19" deep x 24" high.
