Obtained at an estate sale. Do not know the history but it is a really unusual and a very early piece. Not sure of age but appears to be 19th century. Is painted gray all over and painted with scenes over top, front and one side. Other sides were started but not finished. On the top in the painting of the girl the date of 1948 has been painted in. On the left side someone has signed their initials. Please see photos for description. Dovetailed all over, in good condition has a split that has been repaired on the back of the lid. The inside is in great condition. Measures 18 inches deep, 34 inches wide and 16 inches tall. Primitive Antique Blanket Chest Folk Art Wood Miniature Mini Trunk Fruit Crate
Awesome primitive folk art miniature wooden blanket chest. Made from an old fruit crate. All components of box show traces of having been gleaned from a fruit crate the box is in excellent shape, and measures 8" long by 3 3/4" wide and 3 1/4" tall. There are three tiny nail holes visible on top of box lid one in front center, and two on right side edge, which are remnants of when piece was a packing crate please see last photo. The front of box has a beautiful scallop design and still retains faint pencil layout lines. Original to the creation of the piece. Both sides of the mini blanket chest have footed arched features which join and compliment the scalloped arched front. The interior of box is where the origin of this unique piece is hidden, the wooden interior reveals the writing, advertising of the original fruit crate ... moreof which it was made. The bottom of lid is partially labeled"produce of USA united packing company" circled(27) The interior sides read"deluxe quality" and"pack" The top of lid is a beautiful bow type top it's thick and smooth from years of use. Vintage red folk art trunk hope chest that will bring you back to your childhood
the handles are missing. but it's not really going to be used to hold stuff anyway look carefully at the images. I'm sure you know some. or about all of the people inside. would certainly make an interesting centerpiece. maybe cut some glass or plexiglass to fit inside as a table, then close the lid and use the top as a table when kids come over the cutouts inside are old. some are ripped. Discolored ect. hey, it's paper glued and taped in a trunk, i think it's held up well

For Sale. A Wonderful old Hand Made Folk Art Cabinet, Pre WW-2 is very old, Maker was a Gentelman from Union City IN. It open's in a strange Folk Art Design, think it was made as a Valet or possibly just a trinket box/sewing, Craft supply's to keepsake box, or whatever you choose. It is 10" wide where drawers are, 4-1/2" tall, and 10" deep from front to back. Drawers are just over 3-1/2" wide on the inside, and 9" deep, lots of room for parts here. Drawers open across from each other, making 2 drawers on each side, and 2 false fronts. takes some getting used to but a neat idea and very unique! Please see pictures.This would be very expensive to make today, it is from old forest cedar, very high quality wood and bug resistant. VINTAGE COMPRESSED WOOD & METAL SQUARE CHEST WITH PAINTED DUCK FOLK ART
Up for sale is a VINTAGE COMPRESSED WOOD& METAL SQUARE CHEST WITH PAINTED DUCK FOLK ART This chest is from my father's collection and was stored in his garage. The chest appear is in fair condition. The chest is made of compressed wood with the same painted country scene on four panels. All of the panels have water damage of some sort; some more than others. The bottom panel has water marks and stains. The top panel has had some paint removed(due to a label) The metal framing is very rusty and the chest smells musty. The chest measures approximately 16" length x 16" wide x 16" high. I cannot locate a makers mark or label. This chest was stored in a non-smoking home garage. When possible. I will combine shipping on multiple purchases. I've described this chest as accurately as possible.
