Antique Victorian Restored MONITOR or WATERFALL Style Steamer Trunk 19th Century
Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. This trunk has been conserved or restored. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& isn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE ... moreNOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. It is very beautiful, and seems purposefully placed There is very gorgeous and unique hardware. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. It has been left natural wood so new owner may leave as is. Or finish out to suit their needs best. One of the most unique things about this trunk is the locks on either end of trunk. And latch in center Normally one most I have seen. There will a latch on both ends, and a lock in center, this one is reversed! Large size 36 x 21 inches and 24 inches tall Great size for a coffee table. Tv stand, statement piece for any room, or as blanket chest or for storage very sturdy. 19th Century French Goyard Wicker Steamer Trunk
All original. Immaculate condition, wicker antique Goyard steamer trunk. Wicker skeleton is strong and sturdy, nothing broken or cracked. Gum coated canvas exterior is in perfect condition, edges covered in leather still soft not brittle and dried out. Beautiful brass lock and brass bosses. Decorative wooden slats adorned with brass fasteners. Main leather straps still soft and plyable(one has a small repaired area) Smaller leather straps are brittle but replacable. Heavy duty leather handles are in great shape. The leather lock cover(stamped with the Goyard name) is very nice. Interiror has two trays, everything is covered in fine European linen, with decorative silk ribbons and brass tacks. One of the labels is from the German liner TS Bremen which later became Hitler's flag ship. The canvas cover is very fragile and needs alot of repair, but it is all there. This is a wonderful piece of history from one of the top(if not the top) trunk makers in the world. The trunk is rare because of the light weight wicker frame. most were crushed by heavier trunks. The trunk has been appraised and I will gladly provide a copy of the appraisal(shown in pictures)

Vintage British Military Metal Trunk Chest Royal Navy 19th Century engraved name
Very rare military captains metaltrunk chest. Strong steel construction can carry a large weight. Handles toeach side and brass hasp to lock and original brass name plate engraved J BHewitt R.N. the original owners name tbolted through to top. Fair Condition. Vintage Patina. Surfacewear and aged bending- lid opens and closes fine although fibre gasket perished away in the main so no longer watertight. Handles and hinges in goodorder. No key but hasp can be locked with padlock. Large Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk - Late 19th Early 20th Century
A classic. Large Louis Vuitton monogram-canvas steamer trunk ~ Serial Number 107118. This trunk has resided in California until recently. We are retiring. And de-acquisitioning some of our'old friends. The trunk has been treasured by three generations in our family. It measures 43.5” x 22.5” x 23” The structural condition is excellent. There is wear as can be expected given the trunk’s age and historical use as luggage. All the authenticating LV markings on brass fittings are visible. All the brass fittings(the handles on each end and front clasps) are in good. Working condition. Some exterior leather has a fair amount of wear. There is(old) staining in the fabric on the inside lid of the trunk, and some staining on the inserts. No mold or bad smells. The trunk is just‘old. It has resided in a smoke-free home. The original owner’s name ... moreand location are painted on the ends in traditional colors. There are quaint. Hand-written paper labels No. 1 Plain and No. 2 Plain on the tray inserts. Plain what? we have wondered all these years. Two tray inserts are included with their original straps. Louis Vuitton is woven into these straps. The beautifully-crafted design and maker’s name are imprinted on the metal strap buckles. The trunk's tin bottom is in good shape including the four original. Functioning metal wheels. Photos show specifics of wear: one brass LV grommet was replaced(before our time) with a plain nail; places of wear to the canvas. Leather and interior.
