This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. The cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. Co Pat. The lock is intact but we do not have the key. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. The left offers a stack of four storage drawers with period dove-tailed ends and the original pulls. To the right another drawer is found with a storage cabinet below. The lock is missing from the cabinet door. As you can see in the pictures this desk could easily be in the center of a room for it is as lovely on the back as the front and is finished beautifully all the way around. This beautiful Tall Walnut Victorian Cylinder Roll Secretary Desk is in excellent condition for its age, has many wonderful details and is just waiting for its place of prominence in your home! The elegant bookcase top is graced with beautiful crown moulding adorned with incised carved spade moulding. Two handsome horizontal raised burl panels are found above the gorgeous glass doors. These gorgeous glass doors have pierced cornices at the top and are graced with four large floral medallions along with fluting details. The right door has an intact lock and a working key. The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. Condition: Used Location: Fairfield, United States We are pleased to be offering today what I believe to be a bench made custom solid tiger sawn oak Chippendale raised panel all the way around cabriole ... moreleg flat top desk that dates from the 1890's. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

Great looking original 19th century folk art dulcimer from about 1850-70. 33" x 7" x 3 1/2" Hand made from red walnut with early square nail construction. Wonderful old crusty surfaces. Carved chestnut peg. With a part of another. Not sure what the white inset string supports are made of- they appear to be hand made, but might be later replacements. Dating is based on the type of nails used, the associated age shrinkage cracking around the nail heads and the crusty patina(most noticable on the bridge) Discovered in central Missouri. Up for auction an antique vintage Norwegian I mmigrant T runk dated 1820. It came from a Norwegian farm settlement in the Madison. Wisconsin area. This is beautifully Rosemaled trunk from the very early period of Norwegian pioneering i mmigration to North America. Front and both sides are elaborated hand painted with floral motifs. T he lock is period to the time. As would be the nails and wooden pegs used. No key for the lock though. The trunk is solidly built with the hand forged metal plates reinforc ing sides and top. Inside is relatively clean- no major issues- wood work has stood test of times. A few scuff marks here and there. As would be normal for a trunk of this age. Up for sale is this beautiful refinished antique flat top steamer trunk/victorian pirate chest with tray. It measures 28 1/2" long by 18" wide and 11 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained then sealed with of spar urethane. The interior has been redone with a newer fabric liner at some point in this trunk's history- it has some wear and blemishes but overall it is in very good condition. A new covering was put inside to resemble the old, so no musty smell. All original hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish. New leather handles were put on. But I am having a really hard time deciphering it, it appears to be someone's name and then a place in New York. The trunk does have railroad transportation labels on both sides of the trunk. The trunk does have some wear as you ... morecan see, original front lock hardware is missing and it does have surface loss. Some of the paint has alligatored a bit on the sides as you can see from the photos. Trunk measures 35.25 inches wide by 17.25 inches deep by 17 inches tall. It has labels for New York Central Railroad and Westcott express one side and the other side has a very partial label and from what I can tell it is in French. The front of the trunk may read Hauve(France)New York. I think this is a really nice piece, I think it has a good folk art look to it and great to find it with original green paint. Antique Miniature Doll Chest with Hankie Drawers Salesman Sample 12” High x 12” Wide x 6 ½“ Deep*It is darker than it looks in the photos. The finish has a darkened aged look– beautiful. This is a wonderful old piece- I believe it to be about 1920 It has 2 handkerchief drawers on the top. There are 2 drawers side by side and below those. 2 large drawers. The drawer pulls are wood. There grooves in the 2 small drawers and in the bottom drawers. On the sides of the chest. There are grooves again, nice detail. When it is upside down the bottom is the bottom of the last drawer. Only one side of the center drawer is dovetailed, it was easier and cheaper to make that way. The salesman had the one corner as an example to show his customers. Condition: Really very good. There are no splits in the outside wood. A couple of the drawers have wood ... moresplits(inside) The corner of the back right facing leg was broken off. But it looks like someone shaped it. It is not noticeable unless you compare the sides. There is a stain in one drawer see photo. All of the drawers slide easily. It needs a good cleaning. Look at all the photos and ask questions. For sale is a spectacular pair of solid. Hand carved, very old, antique Italian chests/high-boys from a monastery/convent. I estimate these to be from the early 1800's and most likely Tuscan in origin. They are phenomenal. They are missing the original marble tops as well as the original fretwork on the legs(only one piece remains) Some damage from woodworms as well as regular splits, cracks, scratches commensurate with their age and function. New marble tops and a little restoration work(I think they look lovely the way they are however, to be honest.they have a rustic appeal to them due to their wear) will make these the highlight of any room. They both have mortise locking doors(I do not have the keys) with carved floral motifs which open to reveal a complete chest of drawers in one and a partial chest of drawers in the other with ... moreadorable little double doors where the friar would have most likely placed something precious like an ostensory or reliquary. Storage Chest/Trunk/Box"A grand old chest! ... moreFor years this has been a magical dressing up box! It's full of lots of antique costumes and accessories. Younger relations head straight for it when they visit! But it would be good as a blanket box or general storage. It's very tall and has a huge amount of space. It looks a bit more impressive than many similar items. Having some grand trimmings, almost armorial. The carvings on the front are very imposing and clearly of some age. This type of carving often surrounded a coat of arms, which may have been removed in years gone by. It also has some lovely brass lion's feet(which really need shining up…they'll look really good when polished! We believe the front of the chest is much old than the rest. It's not uncommon to have wooden furniture rebuilt over the years. Often when they suffer from woodworm or general wear. You would have to look hard to find a better restored origianl Genny Lind stagecoach trunk. This mid 1800s trunk has had a great restoration including new leather straps and buckles on the outside. Lovely quilted interior. And beatiful restoration of the tooled leather covering. And it does not smell! On the interior it still sports the wood restraining flap that would allow you to fill that side of the trunk and then close it without everything falling out. See the last 2 photos Petite size approximately 20" long. 13.5" wide and 9" deep. A kind and knowledgeable ebayer just added this info. the actual name for one of these is a valise. They used to put that on many of the old labels. Such as trunk, valise, and carpet bag manufacturer. condition. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. Nice Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key and Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key. Interior Compartment Area, and Tray Here is a very nice clean refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 inches. From floor to top is approximately 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. This beautiful hump back chest is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has a nice natural color, or patina which has come about only by age since there was no staining of the wood during the refinishing process. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with only some typical character marks which include older nicks and dings and some stress cracks. This one comes with ... morethe original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass, and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The front latches are original and are in working condition since the springs are intact. The side handles on this trunk have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. All of the leather that we use on our trunks comes from an Amish man in an Amish community near our house here in Pennsylvania. Going to the interior of this great trunk. It comes with an interior tray which we have replaced the bottom with wood to make it sturdy. This trunk's interior has also has the hidden compartment on the left side under the dome that we recreated. We put the drop door back on this compartment area and added a nice picture to the door. You can drop this door down to put items in this area and conceal them up inside the dome. At the right side, we have left the original decorative emblem and border in place. It has the original 4 metal coasters on the bottom and are in great shape also. The only issue I have seen is that the leather straps and 1 handle will need to be replaced. The thickly painted writing on top states: W H POPE PASSENGER TO MASSILLON OHIO USA. Northeast Ohio. Near Canton(south of Cleveland) Made of STEEL. With slightly corrugated sides, Oval Shaped, Hinged Lid. HAND MADE HASP holds the handle. And FRONT LATCH appears to be hand made, as well. And the single, LONG hinge at back. All 3 are very well done, but do not at all look like factory made pieces. Construction is STURDY. With Lapped edged on lid, Bottom and sides. Heavy enough to be STURDY and strong, but not too heavy to be unweildly. All hinges and clasps are secure and strong. Painted a dark bittersweet/mustardy-brown color. Wonderful Set Antique Chairs Windsor Chairs Very Good Condition Hard to find set of 6 This is a wonderful set of chairs. Manufactured in the mid to early 1800's. They have'plank' seats(one piece of wood) Are in very good condition. We have been using the chairs at home& decided it's time to sell them. The last picture shows the chairs in our kitchen- nice addition to a country home(which will probably be for sale too- HINT to someone who wants to escape the NYC madness for the simpler. Kinder life we have enjoyed since the late 1970's) The chairs are strong, joints are good, the paint is very good with minor paint loss. Antique Scottish Folk Art miniature chest of drawers box circa 1860
A box. Made to look like a Scottish full sized chest of drawers, with columns down the front. The kind of chest of drawers that used to be called a"Scotch chest" The drawers don't open. The top lifts up to reveal a plain box. Very much a one off. Made perhaps as a present and very much in the Folk Art tradition. Each part is homemade- you can see the whittle marks on the feet and even the handles have been made for this piece. Brass hinges and lock plate were bought. The rest is all individual. Approximately 27cm x 21.6cm across the top. Height- 24cm. A pleasing size. Condtion- It has at some point had a bad bash to the base. Which has knocked one of the feet off and it has been glued on again. It is old, old glue and could be done again much better with modern glues and not show. At the same time, you can see in the photo, ... morea crack appeared in the base at the back. The sides have been decorated with a shaped overlay. On one side three pieces are missing, on the other two. I would say this could easily be fixed without too much trouble and also could be ignored quite easily! The hinge works well and closes and opens and the front, the decorative part has all its knobs and drawers etc. The starting price reflects the damage and it is still a really fun thing. antique Civil War Navy SAILOR'S TRAVELING SEA TRUNK dated "1865"
This old sailor's wooden trunk measures 28" long x 19" wide x 21" high and shows dovetailed construction with rope handles on sides. Dating from the Civil War. The seaman who owned the trunk penciled an inscription in three lines on the underside of lid which is hand written and difficult to decipher but it has a date visable"November 1865" and his name is on the bottom line(difficult to make out) The trunk is heavily constructed with reinforced iron strap hinges that go all the way around and they are held in place with old hand forged rose-head nails. Also of interest is that it still retains both of its original hemp rope handles and there was some old shells in the bottom when the trunk was found. Condition: the right clasp hinge with eye bolt is missing and was replaced with another clasp. Some of the nails ... moreholding the strap hinges are more modern replacements but could easily be removed and square nails put in their place. Some of the wood slats are cracked. One rope handle is detached but both could be replaced easy enough. The trunk is still very sturdy. If you collect Civil War era Navy or mid 19th century nautical items. This is a nice bright blue steamer trunk. With metal corners, hardware and strapping. I believe the walls, bottom and lid are made of thin plywood with an exterior lining of sheet metal.Measuring about 29½" x 14½" and about 10¼" tall, it has a single leather or faux leather carrying handle on the front, right beside the lock. The inside is lined with paper printed with a wood grain design. I don't know the age of it, but it looks mid twentieth century, doesn't it? I also don't see any sign of manufacturer identification, and no labels to tell where it traveled. It has some surface scuffs and scratches. Especially on the top and bottom, in fact there are some distinct pressure dents around the edge of the lid, as shown in the third picture below. This is a very clean large oak trunk that has a variety of uses such as a blanket chest. Toy chest, or wonderful coffee table. It is made of solid oak with the original finish that has a nice patina and is finished on all sides including the back. The inside of the trunk has been painted red but can be stripped back to the natural oak. The trunk is 48" wide, 22" deep, and 24 1/2" tall. There is a piano hinge that opens the top. There is a lock but I do not have the key. The trunk was originally on rollers. One of the blocks under the trunk that holds the roller insert is damaged but is easily repairable if rollers are prefered. Email with any questions.
