You may be able to patch it from the backside, but I have also purchased some inexpensive cloth ribbon to that you can see how easy it would be to totally change the look. It's 20 inches long. 12 inches wide and 11 inches tall. You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. Ha ndle is covered with leather. No markings on it so I don't know the brand. This is an estate sale purchase and I know nothing about its origin or age. It is clean inside. No o dors. This antique Hartman Trunk Co. Steamer Suitcase/trunk has great appeal and character. Early 1900's. Covered in leather/cowhide with a pink silk interior this piece was sold by Saks Fifth Avenue. Bronze hinges with a really neat mechanism. Over all condition is great for the age. Leather hinge on the back has torn on the left side. The original owners initials are stamped on the front and have not work. The name of the owner is still on a travel tag attached to a Holland America cruise liner tag. A bronze Saks Fifth Avenue tag is also on the front. The name of this trunk is called the PATHFINDER. Really nice piece of history. Priced to sell. Any questions please feel free to ask!

Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried ... morein the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. Antique Pendleton Suitcase
This is a suitcase that was used by my Uncle who went to Oregon to be part of the CCC service during the depression. I'm not sure if the suitcase had the three Pendleton Redeo stickers attached to the suitcase or if it was purchased at the rodeo. Inside the case there was also an album from the rodeo with approximately 50 pictures. This is not included. Your only bidding on the case. My best guess is approximately 1940- 44. He eventually ended up in the Navy during WWll. The case size is approximately 23 inches by 13 inches by 6 inches. The color is brown. The case is made out of metal. Vintage or Antique Hartmann Tourobe Wardrobe Travel Steamer Trunk Suitcase
This is an antique or vintage Hartmann Tourobe made in Racine WI travel wardrobe trunk. Trunk measures about 35" x 20" x 12" This has been used. There are surface scratch/rub marks on the outside of the trunk, the leather handle is broken off, the closures work but there is not a key to lock them. Trunk is has markings on the end that say Lt. Comdr. Johnstone MCVS U.S.N.R. on the end and a sticker that says Gibalterized. The Hartmann Tourobe Racine Wi sticker is intact. There are travel stickers attached to the outside and a tag that says Railway Express, Inc. War Won't Wait, if that helps to date it. This outside is black with metal, and not sure what the main material is, maybe a pressed wood. The inside is blue with 3 compartments on the fold down side, 2 of the compartments have cloth ties, the top cloth part folds ... moreover and snaps at the end, snap pieces are intact. The other side has 2 wood hangers and the metal pieces that hold the hangers fold in to hold the hangers and can be folded out when the trunk is opened. There are some water marks on the cloth cover of the fold out part and a musty smell to the inside of the trunk. The red stripes on the outside of the trunk do have rub marks.

Beautiful Antique French Suitcase. Quality brass fittings. The inside is all in very good condition. A little faint foxing on the linen. There is a lift out compartment. To separate the clothing. All the straps are present and in good condition. All the corners are leather reinforced. There are brass protectors on the bottom and the sides. The brass locks close beautifully but there is no key. The outside of the case is a little scratched and marked, as would be expected with a suitcase of this age. There is some staining on the back and side of the case, as can be seen in photo five. The initials on the top are P.J.F. The locks are signed JDEHA. I would date it to 1920/30's. This auction is for a pretty cool storage case. I am uncertain as to what this was exactly used for. It is black in color and has the look of leather however I think that the leather is a faux leather except for the handle which I believe is real leather. It has a good look to it. Could be used for many purposes. It is solid and can hold some weight. It has a Corbin lock and a polka dot pattern interior. A pretty neat old piece. Shows overall wear from use and I do not have the key to the lock. Which I have never closed due to fear of not being able to reopen it, the side clips can keep it closed on their own. Hartmann Tourobe Suitcase/Trunk/Wardrobe All original and in great condition. This is a suitcase from the early to mid 1900s. Comes with the original hangers and is in great condition. It has normal wear(scuffs. Edge protectors have scratches, and someone used a marker to cross something out on the bottom of one side) All the hardware is original and functioning. The Hartmann badge is still on and it even has the little patent label still attached. There is a small clear plastic piece with the Hartmann name on it and a piece of paper slipped in it with letters and numbers on. Not sure what it is but it is there and the owners initials are visible by the handle Inside is in excellent condition with no rips or tears in the fabric and all snaps still there. This is a wonderful walrus or seal leather antique suitcase. It is in remarkable condition for it's age! All of the hardware and leather handle etc. is there! The front hardware works. But one side is a little stiff and the closure can pop open, an easy adjustment I would think for someone who knows what they are doing. It has a beautiful antique patina. The category that I have placed in(due to lack of choices) says 1900-1950 but I believe it is pre 1900. There is some splitting and cracking of the leather on one end, exposing wood? please see pic for best description. I have not tried to fix it, the leather is very old, again I will leave that to buyers preference. The inside is a beautiful cream colored satin. Overall size is 23.5" across. 14" deep and 5.5" tall. I did notice that the leather is loose around the handle and there is a LM engraved by the handle as well. The leather shows to be in very nice condition for its age! Note: Due to the size of this case- I don't think I have any boxes this size to pack up item in but I will be able to wrap the case and then custom made a shipping box by folding cardboard around it for safe shipping.
