Offered is this attractive vintage Queen Anne style"Cavalier" cedar chest. Built by the Tennessee Furniture Company in Chattanooga. Tennessee. The Tennessee Furniture Company was founded in 1865 but didn't begin using the"Cavalier" trademark until 1923. I believe the company went out of business in the late 1950s-early 1960s. Making this chest at least 50 years old and possibly as much as 90 years old. The chest is 45" wide. 32" high and 19" deep. The inside dimensions of the storage area. Made from Tennessee red cedar. Are approx. 41 1/2" wide, 14 1/4" high and 16 1/2" deep. All of the front"drawers" are false. I think all of the hardware is original. The cedar interior of the piece is like new. But there are some problems with the veneered exterior: The"foot" of one ... moreof the front legs is damaged. Both ends of the fan emblem are missing. One of the very thin pieces of molding that outline the"drawers" is missing(bottom of top"drawer" The top has a good deal of scratches. Scrapes, etc. Scratch Cover has made it look better. But you might want to consider refinishing the top unless you plan to cover it with something. The front and sides are in much better shape. The original key is included. But I could not get the lock to work. Maybe you can. The lid latch works fine. However. I have this listed as"pickup only" because of what would probably be a very high shipping cost. However. Antique Early 1900's Chest of Drawers with Mirror Queen Anne Style
This beautiful early 1900's chest of drawers with small mirror was an estate sale find. It had a thick layer of white/yellowish paint covering it. We stripped the paint and took it back to its original wood color. We did not apply any stain and just let the natural color come through. We did add a clear coat of lacquer to bring out the natural color and protect it. It has 2 small drawers on top and 3 larger drawers on bottom. I am not an expert. But I believe this is Queen Anne style of furniture. It has cabriole legs on front and it is on casters. It is made of solid walnut-the only veneer pieces are on the sides. It is in good condition-it is a well-made solid piece. This is a very Beautiful. Very well taken care of LANE cedar lined Mahogany Queen Anne chest. It has all the original papers still in the chest as it came from Lane. The color is more like the second picture of just the top. You will not find anything nicer than this on ebay or craigslist. The pictures do not do it justice. There is some normal wear due to the age and use. The top also looks like someone put a cup on it without a coster. All in all this is an amazing piece of history and furniture for any home.
