These two chests were brought from over seas by my Grandpa in the early 1940's. He obtained them while in the Army. Both chests have the original locks that came with them. There are a few areas that need repaired. The latches on both boxes have damage and the bottom of the larger box has shrunk and has a crack. On the larger box. The screws are missing where the hinges attach to the box. The Pictures show these areas.

Rare. Classic piece of artisan workmanship. The construction is detailed in the certificate included. Hand-carving on front, original Cavalier Certificate and Emblem still intact on inside lid. Still smells of cedar. A small piece of the carving(right side) is missing, you can see it in the photo.There are some chips, you can see them in the photos. I have researched it, and this level of wear is minimal for its age, and easily repairable. The latch/lock has all the original pieces, but at this point I've unscrewed it and it's non-functioning. The inside lid brace is missing, but the hardware to attach it is still there. Very good condition! THIS IS A BEUTIFUL HAND CARVED CHEST THAT WAS MADE I BELIEVE IN THE 40'S-50'S. IT DOES HAVE SOME SCUFFS ALL AROUND THE CHEST BUT OVERALL THE CHEST IS IN GREAT CONDITION FOR ITS AGE AND IS A PERFECT PIECE FOR DECORATION. IT TRULY HAS CHARACTER. Ornate hand-carved antique chest/trunk. Vintage Chinese/ Asia *NO RESERVE*
Here is what I know of my Grandpa's trunk. He got it overseas in World War II. My Mom said it's from China. She said it's cedar wood. I do not know for sure it is cedar? I don't know the exact year it was made but it was made before 1942. It needs a dusting(as you can see) and has been kept in climate controlled storage for many years now. It is beautifully hand-carved on all four sides and on top. Dark brown in color. I really don't know much about it but it is quite nice. looks like the carvings tell a story- I can try to send more pictures or if you have questions call or e-mail. Size is 16x 16x 36. This is only the 2nd time I have ever sold on e-bay so I don't have a rating yet but you can call me if you have questions for me. I put it on to sell so no reserve- Its a nice trunk!

Ornate Hand Carved Relief Chinese Camphor Wood Trunk Oriental Chest
Stunning hand-carved Chinese camphor wood trunk. This trunk features a stepped top carved with intricate relief panels. Three of the sides also feature cartouches with carved scenes and the front is decorated with a pair of guardian foo dogs. A central brass latch with scalloped edges keep the trunk lid secured and the lid moves on brass hinges. A glass top is included with the piece to protect the top surface and allow the chest to be used as a table. It was not pictured because of the glare it created. Obscuring the details of the chest. The interior of the chest features a large open storage space and a smaller boxed area as well. Overall. This piece is in good to very good condition. There is some wear throughout as well as scratches and a chip to the wood in the front as pictures, but no major breaks or visible repairs. Please examine ... morethe provided pictures carefully.
