This trunk measures approximately 22" ... morelong X 14" wide X 15 1/2" high and it has two hinges in back that hold the lid securely to the base. There used to be sturdy leather handles on each side of the trunk but they are no longer intact, these can be purchased inexpensively on-line and they're fairly easy to replace. The corner protectors and hardware appear to be brass plated steel. There are two hasp type closures, one on each side of the lock and the lock needs to be bent just a little to close it securely. We tried the key and the locking mechanism seems to work properly but we didn't want to damage anything so it will arrive open with the key tucked in an envelope safely inside. The inside of the trunk is wood and there should be wood beneath the black material covering the outside(it is non-magnetic and we don't think it's metal) This little trunk is in very good condition and once it's restored it should be a beauty- perfect for your antique doll collection or as a gift for a very special grandchild. This is a beautiful wooden slate trunk. It was made with wood. Leather, and metal trunk. Someone tried to paint the inside of the trunk over the years but the outside was left untouched. This antique Hartman Trunk Co. Steamer Suitcase/trunk has great appeal and character. Early 1900's. Covered in leather/cowhide with a pink silk interior this piece was sold by Saks Fifth Avenue. Bronze hinges with a really neat mechanism. Over all condition is great for the age. Leather hinge on the back has torn on the left side. The original owners initials are stamped on the front and have not work. The name of the owner is still on a travel tag attached to a Holland America cruise liner tag. This beautiful French Vellum Trunk. With its incredible character and elegance, sailed on the Queen Elizabeth from New York to an unknown destination. Measuring 35" long, 20 1/2" wide, and 13 1/2" deep, the exterior has the original solid wood banding and polished chrome latches and hardware. Engraved on the lock is the word"Surete" which is french for"security" Its edges are protected with original rawhide trim secured by silver nail heads. This is a numbered leather rounded top steamer trunk circa 1854 to 1867. The company started in 1854 and in 1867 changed the look to canvas and the top to a flat surface for better stacking. This trunk has a little recent damage to one outside corner from my daughters cats scratching but I think that can be smoothed out with the right tool. The trunk is over 100 years old so the outside is worn but it is in good condition in spite of the scratches. The inside is in beautiful condition with a wonderfully intack. Clean tray and 3 compartments below the tray with the ties still there to hold your clothes down? The outside leather handles are still there and in good condition. I never allowed anyone to move the trunk by using these handles. I also have a key to the trunk. There are, it seems to me, old European hotel sticker marks on the outside. ... moreI actually have some of these old, beautifully colored stickers from the 1950's or earlier that I would sell separtley. This piece of luggage is a real collectable Louis Vuitton and in better condition than any I have seen sold at other sales. Antique Black Steamer Travel Trunk Leather Handles on Each End Front Latch NEAT!
This auction is for a vintage steamer trunk. I think this is the right wording for them. This is black, hinged lid, leather strap handles on each end. Two clasp closures on the front, the main lock is missing the bottom as you can see in the photos. The inside is papered. This is worn and discolored, it is the original. There is a wooden bar on each side where the shelf would sit, but is no longer with the trunk. Measures right at 36" wide, 21.5" deep and 24" tall. It has weight to it! Fantastic condition- only a couple of minor wear marks. This trunk's insides look like they came off of the showroom floor- amazing for how old the piece is. The homestead was in the family for 100 years and this is just one of the jewels that have been unearthed- claim it while you can. This is a vintage piece of luggage that is in used but good condition. It is an extremely rare find and rarer to find in this condition and with key. It is blue slim steamer trunk with blue leather trim and leather handles. The trunk opens up and locks in place to allow for clothes to hang from the hangers. The bottom area has dividers and ribbon ties to secure your items. Both sections have a cloth cover. The bottom has snaps to secure it to the bottom of one of the dividers. Steampunk Trunk Kit Vintage Brass Plated Hardware w/Leather Handles
This trunk hardware and leather handles are from the early 1970s. The patina on the brass is from their age. The leather handles are 9 3/4" long and three ply at 5/16" thick. There are 8 corners. 20 knees, 1 Long lock w/key, 2 large rectangular draw downs, 2 handles, 4 handle clamps, 2 hinges, and 2 lid stays. This is a similar list of hardware and handles used to build the trunk in the second photo(from 1974) thought seeing the finished product with similar hardware would help. TRUNK NOT INCLUDED, this item is the HARDWARE KIT ONLY. I can draw up the plans for that one if it would help a project. I handmade the metal trim from sheet aluminum and cut the bows from 3/4" X 2 1/4" oak that I split and rounded the edges of each half on a table router, pretty easy stuff. Up for auction is a vintage 1921 Belber steamer wardrobe trunk that is in great condition for its age; lovely worn-look It was manufactured by the Belber Trunk and Bag Company Phiadelphia. Pa. It was purchased at H.R. Knapp Leather Goods in Pottsville. Pennsylvania. It has stickers that tell that it travelled on the American Railway Express Company from Schuylkill County to Philadelphia with a young woman who attended Temple University teacher’s college. Dimensions are 41.5" x 21.5" x 21" Handle intact. All hardware is intact with all the rivets except the key is lost, 5 drawers that open and close, a separated small matching case, an ironing board; Has the Original Bar which goes thru the drawers to keep them secure during travel The ... morepatent date of April 19, 1921 is on it. Drawers still open and close. Hanger Rods still extend. But there are no hangers. Top opens so you can take the clothes out in the back without having to take the ones in front out first. It has the original material with some small snags; no holes in the interior or exterior. Isabella Irene Francks was the owner and lived in Frackville. Pa. She graduated from Temple University on June 14, 1928 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. There are several Vintage handwritten letters included from her which gives the piece alot of character. For other destinations. Please email for a shipping ... morequote. I call this a strap type trunk. Because leather straps would have encircled it in two places. The straps would have buckled at the opening. You can see the leather strap retainers that are still in place. If you want, you can have someone who works leather to make these belt-like straps for you. The top is studded. This is quite unusual in that I've never seen it before myself. It no doubt gave the top some protection from other trunks that would have been stacked on top. I think it is quite a good look. The hardware on the front. Specifically the latches are quite ornate and show that this trunk was made back toward the Victorian era when everything was onamental in design. I figure this trunk was made in the early part of the 20th century and spent a lot of time on railroads and maybe steam ships(the labels certainly bear out the railroad part) Notice the heavy use of studded rivets all along the corner protectors. This shows the quality of the trunk and like the studded top. Improves the overall look. The lock was made by Eagle Lock(see condition note below) I suspect from this that the trunk is American in origin(no makers mark was found on it) Underneath a

Up for your consideration is a rare antique Hardy valise. Steamer trunk This is a super Rare antique STEAMER TRUNK. ALL ORIGINAL made by HARDY LEATHER CRAFTSMAN, European made. I have tried to research HARDY CRAFTSMAN and can't find much. Seems to have been a British Co that was know for super quality leather work. Not so much in trunks though. I had a couple Trunk" experts" tell me this is a trunk made in the same style as the famous LOUIS VUITTON trunks. And was probably from around the turn of the century( 1900) or early 1900's It has a pull down drawer that I have taken pics of. It includes 2 original wooded hangers. All of the trim is brass colored which does have scratches. The Brass tone Latch/ Lock is is in working order. I have no key. Condition: Overall very solid and great for display standing upright as we used ... moreit. Or setting down as the previous owner had it. The condition is good. The interior is very good. All snaps are present and work. There are no rips or tears. All pieces appear to be present. The exterior could use a good cleaning although the fact that it is not cleaned is what creates its absolutely wonderful patina. It is missing the handle but all buckles and latches are present and they work. It does retain its original makers tag. Few places there are some dings. And some of the fabric has minor discoloration as could be expected for its age, but overall still very good. Don't pass up on this one. It is a very Rare item. Very nice. Solid Louis Vuitton calfskin trunk dating from between 1909 and 1915. Excellent patina to the leather, with no major spots- just an overall golden honey aging. It was found in a well-kept old barn, and all I've done is dust it off- I'll let you condition and polish it how you see fit. The trunk is an elegant size measuring 25" wide, 11"high, and 13" deep. The brass hardware is in excellent condition. The lock inscribed'BTE S.G.D.G. PATENT, LOUIS VUITTON, 1. RUE SCRIBE PARIS, LONDON 149. NEW BOND STREET, MADE IN FRANCE' and numbered 028224. Louis Vuitton is stamped on the larger bolts and LV on the two outer latches. The beautiful label has the first 4 shops' addresses, dating it to post-Lille(1909) and pre-Champs-Elysees(1915) The two sides are embossed with the owner's letters"McL" ... moreThe calfskin trunks are rare because they were more expensive, and all special orders, meaning they didn't make them and have them hanging around the shop- they were custom made, so the initials were embossed on the leather before it was made, as it would be impossible after, unlike painted initials. The interior is lined with ivory linen, with fittings for one removable tray. Interior stamped with number 168673. There are overall scrapes, and chipping to the top edges, where some leather has worn away. The handle looks to be not original- my guess is the original one wore off and this one fit, so it was strapped on. This was likely a very prized trunk from the early days of the golden age of travel. Perfect for the discerning decorator. Very solid and the lid operates smoothly, and there are no problems with hardware- although I've never fully pressed in the center lock clasp for fear it would stay locked. Vintage steamer trunk/suitcase. Leather handle and brass closures w/ ORIGINAL key. Measures 28" long. 15.5" wide and 10" high. All black outside with black metal and brass trim. Paper lined wood inside. Has a removable shelf. Some of the paper is getting old and brittle. Mostly there and in good condition. Very little rust, gives this trunk beautiful character. Heavy of course, 21 lbs. without packaging. Great decorator piece.

Here is a very nice Antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk. Its the highest end model with all brass hardware and leather trim and a zinc bottom. Interior is clean with 2 trays. This is the very early hand woven linen monogram canvas which was produced from 1896-1904. The serial number 106906 should put it around 1899. In my opinion this trunk is in great shape for a 115 year old piece that has traveled the world(with the travel stickers to prove it! Please see detailed pics and ask questions. Here we have a beautiful antique late 1800's Edwardian leather trunk from England in used antique vintage condition. very beautiful rare and unique. All leather with cream linen lining inside. Wonderful restoration project. In as found antique condition. These are very hard to find. The trunk measures 21 inches by 14 inches by 36 inches long. Both straps are in good condition. Has brass hardware. Both locks work but have no keys. I wonder what travels this old trunk has seen. It probably came across on an ocean liner back in the day. It has two old labels on it. One says Victoria British Transport, British Railways and the other says Southern Railway, London Via Dunkerque. Must have taken the railways and trains a lot too. The locks say British Lever on them. The underneath has two wooden supports for strength, Would make a beautiful ... morewindow display piece, or a prop for films, movie's, plays, or for a restaurant with an older theme. 1900's Antique Yale & Towne Steamer Trunk Chest Wood Leather Brass
This is a great antique trunk that at one time was used by Lumpee& Russ Harness Makers; I cannot make out the rest of the wording. The trunk is structurally solid. The valet tray has two holes but this could be nicely refinished. The top tray has two sections with one that does have the leather/button loop closure intact. There is no key in the locking mechanism that was made by Yale Towne MFG out of Stamford. Conn. It weighs just under 55 pounds. This is being sold as is. If you live on the I-5 corridor on the west coast(Washington, Oregon and California) I have a shipper. Item is in great condition considering its age and travel. Top handle was repaired with risen and rope that's considerably tougher than the leather counterpart neatly done also. The white strip is residue from what seems to be duct tape. There are no holes in the shell and no mildew smell. The Trunk has some scratches and scrape. A LEATHER& IRON BOUND MOTOR CAR? TRAVELLING? TRUNK. Back in the August of last year. I was invited, with others, to tender for the job of clearing a bungalow and adjacent outbuildings prior to their sale, I viewed the premises, submitted my offer and promptly forgot about it. As I remember, the job was a dual application where the bungalow and the buildings had to be valued and priced separately. Some very stringent specifications were imposed as to when the work could commence, vehicular and pedestrian access and a whole rainbow of minor regulations. However, my tender ticked all the right boxes for just one part of the job. This was to empty and remove the contents of the outbuildings. Frankly, I was overjoyed at this news as it was closer to the main road, had easier access and was far less labour intensive and of course as everyone ... moreknows, stuff dumped in sheds and garages is invariably'out of favour and no longer required' To verify this last statement the buildings did contain a lot of'junk' but also some very collectable and saleable goods even though some of them were seriously outmoded. Many toys and models in varying states of repair were recovered. Some were construction jobs as in Meccano, others as yet un-made, were in the form of ships and boats. Some toys were boxed and almost new. Others, as in the case of the model aircraft, had all been built many years ago and well flown. Musical instruments of various types were recovered. These, according to an executive who was present at the time, had all been used and passed down the family over the years. Suffice it to say, a lot of useful items were recovered, some as old as Adam himself and others in between! My intention was to offer them in time for Christmas but due to pressure of business it would appear that I have left it a tad late. I believe they call this a flap top as it lifts up like a bag on top and clasps in the center but the other sides are all hard leather! It even comes with the original working skeleton key. Overall size is 26.5" across. 13.5" at the base(expands towards the top some) and 13.5" tall(which will expand at the top if needed as well) I did notice that the left brass clasp piece is slightly bent. The leather shows to be in very nice condition for its age! You are bidding on/ buying an ANTIQUE 1920s GENUINE COWHIDE LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK. I come across quite a few suitcases. I have yet to see one in as good a shape. And as unique a design as this one. It is the size of a small suitcase. But shaped like a trunk. It measures 24 inches across the front 13 1/2 inches deep, and 10 inches tall. It has steamer style straps. Silver accent hardware, all original. It almost has a walrus or elephant texture to the hide of the material. You can see the patterning up close in photo 12. The top part of this piece expands up about 3 inches if you fill it to do so. If not it sits flat. Photos 8& 11. There are 2 straps around the case. In great condition. On the front of the case there is a lock latch, and 2 securing latches. All 3 in good order. Inside looks good. All the straps there are in great shape ... moretoo. These are quite versatile pieces, originally designed to carry luggage, but today used flexibly in the home as a decorative piece in the living room as an incredible strike point coffee table in front of a large leather couch. As the side table between the sofa and another chair, as an end table behind a low sofa- possibly with a setup similar to the image above. The present example is a fine work that would originally have been prohibitively expensive, crafted of thick ... morecowhide leather covering the entire surface of the exterior and interior of the trunk, the exterior surfaces still fully original with a fine worn and distressed appeal. The straps are replaced, along with the handles along the sides, allowing this to be a more functional and sturdy piece. It is remarkably heavy, but with the replaced handles it is not a difficult piece to move around the home. It rests over small caster wheels, allowing it to roll if necessary. If you open the lid. The fitted interior is a complex formation of interlocking boxes and compartments, still retained though overall in rough visual condition. The opened lid has it's own compartment, held in with two brass slides that lock in on the right and left- this flips down for a large storage box. On top of this is an old torn label, presumably from the retailer of the trunk, noting" Baier" as the establishment at 26 South Second Street in St. Louis. As shown. A very cool and apparently quite rare antique steamer trunk by the F. A. Weissman Company of New York City. I could not find another trunk from this company anywhere while researching it. I could only confirm that this company did indeed make trunks in the late 1800's/ early 1900's. Measuring 36" x 21" x 13" and very heavy duty. It's in typical condition with wear you would expect from a piece this age, although please note the side handles and front locking latch are long gone. It would be fantastic as a coffee table as it has a great steam punk vibe to it! Greyhound shipping is available which would require you to pick up at your nearest participating Greyhound station.
