Rare Goyard Trunk Luggage Vintage Early 1900's
You are looking at a very interesting piece of history. Goyard is one of the oldest and most revered trunk builders in modern history. Dimensions- 27.5” Wide. 22” Tall, 18 ½” Deep Condition- As you see in the photos there are some damages to the exterior. In only a few places is it ripped through(the worst of the damages are shown in 2 photos) All in all. The exterior is in 80-85% condition considering its age. The hardware is in working order, locking tight. The side handle hardware is also functional. Inside there is no major damage. Stains or odors. Provenance- The top of the trunk is monogrammed with the name Thomas Powers. The box is made of very tough ply and all corners and edges are covered in a very hard and tough bakelite type material. Which are riveted to the main body. I bought this from a very old Pennsylvania womans estate auction and I was told it is a 1940s Antique Vintage Sewing bucket. Basket, caddy on three removable spindle legs(they unscrew) It is made entirely of wood and the body seems to be a thick wood slat firkin bucket upside down with a sewing accessory shelf inside. The bands or straps are wood. It stands about 21 inches high and the bucket has a diameter of about 10.5 inches. It weighs about 7 pounds. It is in super condition for an item that is nearly 100 years old. This is one BIG Vintage Trunk! It was made by Besbilt Trunk Company In Newark. N.J. USA Trunk No. 83117 It has a plate so if it were ever found you could contact the company and they would get in touch with whomever purchased/lost it. It measures 26" high x 40-1/2" wide x 24" deep. This trunk could be restored or used"as is" with all its character! Would be a great wide screen TV stand. End table or just hanging around for extra storage. I would say someone has added some paint to the outside. But it is rather industrial looking. The leather handles on both ends are missing. Hardware is in good condition. Corners are awesome! Sorry. No key. Hinges are nice and tight. Latches on the front work great. Inside has the usual wear and tear. But a lot of the fabric is intact. The bracket for the lid is not connected in the ... moremiddle any more. But that may be an easy fix. Inside tray is missing. There is a place on the lid where it looks like a bottle of paint dripped and a place on the front where there is a small split in the outer covering. Bottom is in surprisingly good condition. Rare Hartmann Vintage Stateroom Antique Travel Steamer Trunk Wardrobe Chest
Characteristics of Hartmann We are offering for sale an extremely RARE& UNIQUE fine stateroom steamer trunk. Came from an older Central Pennsylvania estate. Trunk has previous owners initials H L B. Exact age and origin unknown but believe to be from the early 1900s. 1877: Hartmann Inc. was founded in Milwaukee. Wisconsin by Bavarian Trunk maker, Joseph S. Hartmann. 1905: Mr. Hartmann had a vision to build"luggage so fine it will stand as a symbol of excellence. Because of his vision. The company grew rapidly and moved to larger facilities in Racine, Wisconsin. This trunk has early Hartmann trademark cloverleaf hardware. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. This may be the only one is existence. VERY RARE Quality constructed. Trunk interior is fitted with American golden oak and cast brass ornate pulls with drop front hat box ... morearea that can be used as a desk. Exterior is fitted with rose and silver colored cloverleaf hardware(corners are cast iron and the rest of the hardware is nickel plated brass? which I believe the cloverleaf hardware was characteristic of early Hartmann. Canvas appears to have been a deep mahogany that has darkened over the years from the smoke of coal fired trains and ocean liners. Nice shaped edging of wild boar hide(pig skin) and fine brass tacking. The skin from a boar was tougher and thicker than other animals. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. The latch is marked Everwear TTC3 and Corbin made in USA. Stately Travel Chest Wardrobe Trunk These early trunks are very rare and hard to find and are as good as. Rare Vintage Snakeskin Leather Covered Silk Lined Lockable Box I have for auction a genuine Vintage Snakeskin Leather Covered Silk Lined Lockable Box dating from the early part of the 20th century when they were considered very much a fashionable item for the dressing table or business desk. The snakeskin is very probably Burmese Python and covers the top and all sides except the base. The top surface is padded beneath the snakeskin which gives a nice feel to the touch and the lid closes snugly against the box and is lockable with the small key provided. The hinges are firm and interestingly are designed to stop the lid falling back to horizontal when opened. A sure sign of quality when the box was made. The inside of the box is lined with a fine green silk which is lightly padded beneath. Size approximately 23cms long x 15cms wide x 10cms ... moredeep. RARE Antique Vintage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Travel Chest Case w/ History
Incredible opportunity to own a piece of history- antique steamer wardrobe trunk in very good condition considering its age. It has traveled the world and although many of the vintage stickers have faded as you can see in one photo there is one that shows a date of 1936. The trunk measures 22.25 x 22 x 40 inches on the outside. As you can see in the photos it opens standing up and has one side with a hanging wardrobe(total 6 hangers. 3 for pants and 3 for shirts or jackets) The other side is a chest of four drawers in varied sizes- the top has a divided compartment. The trunk closes and opens well, the lock is separate and has been stored in one of the drawers as you can see in the last photo. The trunk is quite heavy and is available as local pickup only. This is a Mid Century Modern style hope/blanket chest- mfg. date june 14 1962. this chest is in very good condition considering its age. Has a few minor spots on the outside but the inside is near mint condition. There is definitely nothing wrong with it, nothing that would make you say damn after you bought it. Due to safety regulations the lock or latch mechanism has been removed. It measures 43 1/4" long 16 3/4" wide and 19" in height. If pickup is possible it would be great, if not we will work out the details and how you would prefer to have it shipped. Very unusual, it is retaining its original leather strap. Measuring 44 inches long. 22 inches deep and 21 inches high, it is in great condition with some staining on the inside bottom. Antique John T. Barnum Dome Top Wardrobe Trunk Vintage Rare 1906
We have here a nice and rare antique wardrobe trunk. This trunk was manufactured by the Barnum Trunk Company in 1906(no affiliation to P.T. Barnum) The trunk is what you would have seen your typical wealthy traveler use at the turn of the twentieth century. A little research on the internet yielded the following information: John T. Barnum was born in Rochester. NY on March 5, 1857. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic in Troy. NY in 1879 He moved to Minneapolis. MN in 1880 and began working for D.D. Whitney, founder of the original trunk factory in 1872 In September 1880. Barnum and a colleague, Mr. Goodrich, took possession of the company from the ailing Mr. Whitney The Barnum Trunk Company was incorporated in 1905 This trunk is a dome top trunk measuring 53" high. 22" wide and 21" deep. It has a swing out drawer section ... moreand a roll out clothes rack. Both the trunk and the rack have the Barnum plaques on them from Minneapolis, MN. On the bottom of the rack the stamp reads Pat. Feb. 20, 1906. I have 33 photos of the trunk, if you are interested in seeing them send me a message with your email and I can send the rest of them. The photos show the condition of the trunk. At some point, the trunk was painted the oil-based blue shown in the photos. There are some original hangers and straps on in the trunk also. The only major problems I see are the missing leather handles, one wooded wheel is missing from the roll out rack and the key is missing. Keep in mind this item is over 100 years old, and it likely did a lot of travelling, so it's not perfect. I'm basing my price on a couple different Barnum trunks I've seen sell on the internet. RARE Vintage C.A.Taylor Works of Chicago XX Professional Wardrobe Trunk
This trunk is a rare find especially in the great condition that it is in. This is Taylor's XX Professional model steamer trunk designed for long trips overseas. The trunk is meant to be stood on end when carrying it and when positioning it once at a destination. It measures 47" tall. 23" wide, and 27" deep. The right side has a drawer on the bottom, to extendable rods, and will soon have wooden hangers. The left side has four drawers the top drawer designed with compartments. EVERYTHING is original! All of the brass fittings, drawer pulls, and lock. The outside is made with vulcanized fiber which does show signs of age and wear. All of the interior fabric is original and is clean and in good condition. Rare Vintage Antique Humpback Steamer Dome Top Trunk lined with Copper
I have up for sale a unique and wonderful vintage Copper Covered Humpback Steamer Trunk- yes you are reading this right- copper covered. First time in nearly 30 years of dealing that I have seen a humpback made with copper. It comes from the estate of an elder pair of local collector's. They had a small private museum and this was one of the items in the museum. The trunk weighs approx 33 lbs as you see it. Measures approx 26" long x 19" tall, and 15" deep. It has wood slates, a copper covered body, and brass plated latches and brass plated handles on the sides. I estimate the age to be from the early 1900s to 1940s. The trunk is in very good overall condition! The copper has some age and use wear. Looks as though it was polished way back when and has now darkened and tarnished over. The interior looks as though it was ... moreredone somewhere down the line. This is a good solid piece, not too big not too small, nice and sturdy, very unusual with the copper covering.
