SUPERB CRAFTSMANSHIP Quality FINE craftsmanship and artistry. Has been well loved and preserved over the decades. Soft wood dovetail and square nail construction. Hand chamfored panels. I had to look a couple of times before realizing this is hand grain painted to resemble curly and birdseye maple. The artist had a good knowledge of this fine wood. Great attention to detail. All edges pain stakingly hand grain painted. Note how the original bull nose edge marble matches adjoining trim on dresser. All original large chunky porcelain knobs/pulls. A spectacular antique hand painted chinese trunk dating from the first quarter of the 20th century. Possibly earlier. Wooden construction with a canvas/vellum type material covering the entirety and stitched into place. Wonderful once vibrant palette. Now tastefully muted with the passage of time, depicting traditional scenes. All patterned surfaces are hand painted. With the traditional application of a raised, quasi three dimensional faces. As can been seen, some beautiful, time related distress to the paint work which gives the object a credible and appropriate look for its significant age. It's in excellent condition for it's age. Needing only a few touch-ups. Some of the'Gold' that is on top& bottom of chest including the legs needs touching up where it has flaked off. Standing in front of(facing) ... morethe chest. The right side front corner just below the gold'rope' on down needs some cream touch up. The top is nice& smooth although there's 3 tiny little'pits' size of the point on a tooth pick. It looks great without any of these fixes, I am just trying to be as detailed as possible so there are no surprises when it arrives at your door. Please carefully look at pictures as they will'describe' it's condition better than my words can. The only'hardware' is drawer pulls& they look original. Everything else is wood. I don't see where any nails were used at all. As far as history on this all I can tell you is I purchased it from a gentleman that said his mother had bought this at an antique store in the mid west back in the 70's. After researching the internet& from what he told me It's most likely from the 1940 to the 50's. Again that's just a guess. I couldn't really find another one like it. It lifts opens to expose sliding drawers on different levels to storage spaces as you get closer to its bottom. The top starts off with 2 sliding drawers with lift open tops. Next there are another 2 sliding drawers of different widths, next level there are another 2 sliding drawers of different sizes and dividers and then there are 2 more sliding drawers of different sizes and dividers. As you reach the bottom you have three stand up dividers that seperate the bottom into three sections of different size spaces. All the drawers slide forward and back and all can be removed as well. These sliding drawers inside and divisions were for tools of all types as well as storage ... morefor chisels, planes, and saws. There are nice brass handles at either end and a lock mechanism in the front(key not included) This is quite an exquisite piece with a lot of history. All dove tailed and handmade and all levels of draws that slide with no hardware on them at all. It's really hard to believe the work that was put into making something like this. It's quite large and really is best lifted by two people- a piece of history that i can safely says dates to the mid 1850's. It is also in very good condition and has been well preserved. Antique Hand Painted Chest of Drawers in The French Style
This is a very nice hand painted french style serpentine front chest of drawers circa 1900. Not sure were it was made I bought it in England. But has a french look to it. The sides there has been a little veneer lifting but is pretty solid. There is also one escutching to the bottom drawer missing were the key would go. It has dovetail joints to the drawers they are solid wood and run fine. I think also at some time there has been 2 drop handles replaced but the back plates are original. Measurements 50 wide. 22 deep, 34 high.

Antique Hand Hammered Gilt Copper & Brass Clad Wood Chest Trunk Box on Wheels
Wonderful Primitive Antique Hand Hammered Gilt Copper& Brass Clad Wood Chest/Trunk. This is an all original beautiful piece. It is NOT a reproduction. It is sitting on wooden wheels. It has a hinged lid but one of the hinges has come loose from the lid and the piece of wood it was attached to has broken off. The hinge is still attached to the box. The lid still opens and closes fine and this could probably be repaired. There are some places throughout the box where the copper may be slightly bent. Dented, cracked etc. One of the corners has a piece of the trim that is around the edges that has come off but we do have a piece of it that may be reattached. The top of the lid has a spot where one of the nail holes is open and there is some white"sand" or something that they used to keep the 3D scene from caving in inside. Overall ... moremeasurements are 18 1/4" wide side to side, 11 1/2" front to back, and 13" tall. The scene on the front is four men sitting on benches and upside down barrels. One man standing to the side with what looks like a stein in one hand and a woman peeking out the door of the cottage. There is a cat sitting close by observing the men. The has what looks like men and women. One man looks to be helping a woman up off the ground. The scene on one of the sides is two men sitting inside amongst overturned barrels with bottles. Vases, pots etc in the background on a shelf. One is playing a violin or fiddle and the other is sitting next to him. The scene on the other side shows a man sitting in a chair with another man standing over him in front of him. Maybe he's a doctor or dentist? I can't really tell what he is doing. There is another man crouched down to the side as if hiding in the corner. Please take a look at the close up photos for more detail of this wonderful piece. Feel free to email with any questions.

We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Antique to older vintage chest. This is a very nice piece of accent furniture that is also very functional. The chest features two large drawers for storage. It is crafted of solid wood and has French or Italian provincial lines. It is a bow front design with the curvature extending to the sides. The cabriole legs have a carved shell accent on the feet. The shell is also featured on the center of the scalloped apron/skirt. The entire exposed surface(excluding the back) have been hand painted and stenciled in a Neoclassical pattern of acanthus leafs and ornate scrolls. The color is predominantly white with a golden antiquing glaze wash. The patterns have colors of gold and light green. The drawers retain their original, generously sized, ornate pulls. The chest is in very good condition with some minor ... moreevidence of age/use. There are two water marks on the top. There is also some minor, chipping of the paint. One of the sides has a darker area of glaze and appears that the glaze was not wiped as much as in other areas(see photo#5) None of these distracts from the beauty of the chest. Ornate hand-carved antique chest/trunk. Vintage Chinese/ Asia *NO RESERVE*
Here is what I know of my Grandpa's trunk. He got it overseas in World War II. My Mom said it's from China. She said it's cedar wood. I do not know for sure it is cedar? I don't know the exact year it was made but it was made before 1942. It needs a dusting(as you can see) and has been kept in climate controlled storage for many years now. It is beautifully hand-carved on all four sides and on top. Dark brown in color. I really don't know much about it but it is quite nice. looks like the carvings tell a story- I can try to send more pictures or if you have questions call or e-mail. Size is 16x 16x 36.
