It looks like it was once painted, but the painted finish is all but worn off now, with only a little paint remaining on the seat and small flecks all over it generally. Perhaps someone began to sand the chair for refinishing. The chair has a little metal label on the back that has BC153 impressed into it. The chair is 35” tall at the back, 18” tall at the seat, 18” wide at the seat, 16” deep at the seat, 21.5” deep total, and 19” across the leg span. This is a nice, heavy solid wood sturdy side chair that will be a wonderful addition to your wood furniture collection and will be a nice woodworking refinishing project for someone as well.

This is a beautiful wooden slate trunk. It was made with wood. Leather, and metal trunk. Someone tried to paint the inside of the trunk over the years but the outside was left untouched. When I took this out of the attic one of the leather handles broke. I will send it to the lucky buyer. Other than that, this is a wonderful piece of history. Thanks happy bidding!

Offered is an early 1900 Trunk which measurers 13 inches high. 36 inches wide and 22 inches deep. It has a center lock labeled"Eagle Lock Co. 178, Terryville, Conn. U.S. which is slightly bent. No key. There are two leather straps originally with the trunk which are not complete. The side handle leather grips are in good condition. The wood slats appear to be oak type of wood, but not positive. The interior is original with no restoration, lid lock needs reattachment, and the truck interior is wooden construction with an extra metal base evident from the outside base. There is one dent in the metal base, which is black color in the photos. The trunk is wrapped in oil cloth or a canvas type of material, with metal corners and metal edges. One metal trim edge on the back of the trunk, near its base, is loose. Original labels on the side ... moreof the trunk and a partial label is on the top. Been stored for many years in a dry environment and there is no evidence of warping nor environmental damage caused by storage. Local pick up or delivery available in the Seattle area for $50.00. Own a Piece of American History Today! This trunk is over 100 years old! ANTIQUE METAL BARREL STAVE DOME TOP TRUNK WITH WOOD SLATS(591.100) With Measurements: 30.5"w x 17 3/4"d x 23"h Dome Top Trunks 1870-1920 Built in many sizes and styles. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. over ... morethe top) Giving it a slightly different look. The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks were mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. Often early examples of this style have a graceful. Well proportioned look and the later examples into the 1870's are quite simply well made. This trunk is in good condition. Obviously it will show wear marks from age as it is over 100 years old. No rotted metal or holes present. Aren't you just drawn to these old trunks?To me. They represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. Size 28 inches wide. X 15 1/2 inches front to back, x 18 1/2 inches tall. Very small and nice trunk that wouldn't take up much space. Has a great patina. I took a lot of pictures to show the description. Handles don't match. Probably one or both is added, but they have the right look. The stay which holds the trunk open is there. But not original, but like the handles, looks right. The lock is missing. But you could find a replacement or leave as is. This will be great for decoration and some storage. Inside is lined with newspaper. Looks like it was done a long time ago. This trunk is one of the best i've had as far as rustic and patina. If it doesn't sell. I will keep it.
