This chest is the perfect piece to use when mixing old and new in any design scheme. With ample storage in three drawers. It is sturdy enough to hold all of your clutter and components. The rustic look is classic, and the rich maroon hue is faded enough to let the grain and character of the wood shown through. The plain apron and large knobs add to the primitive feel of this piece. The back features plank construction. While the drawers feature dovetail joints. The piece is in good condition, though it is missing the original lock on the top two drawers. The bottom drawer features a lock cut out front for continuity, though it is only for aesthetic purposes. It is a traditional, free standing, sewing table measuring 24ins( 61 cms) high x 1 4 ins(36cms) wide x 12ins( 30 cms) deep. And is constructed with slightly tapering legs with a square sectioned top box having a drawer at the bottom and a hinged lid to the top. Internally it is lined with a mid-yellow satin material and has a small fitted tray at the back. Externally it is finished with the original, dark mahogany coloured, varnish with applied beading to various edges. It is in good condition. With no rot or worm, and the only flaws I can find are minor areas of rubbing to the extremities where the varnish has worn off. Measuring 24ins( 61 cms) high x 24ins(61cms) wide x 18ins(4 6 cms) deep. It is a traditionally constructed'sailor's' chest with a pine body, having part iron banding and corner protectors with brass studded wooden batons. There is an old iron handle at both ends and a central clasp and lock. Internally it is still lined with the original paper lining and has a removable half height divider in the middle. This chap has been around since before the Boer War and! Originally it was canvas covered. This has now been removed and the underlying pine has been prepared and waxed, as have the batons and brass studs. There ... moreare.Of course, a myriad of very characteful nicks, dinks and scars. Dents, scratches and so on over most of the piece and some of the metal work is missing and/or battered with remanants of paintwork on it, but its all characterful! There is a repaired.And now solid, small hole at the back by the right hand side hinge, the screws in the hinges are replacement ones, there are one or two woodworm holes from some long since deceased worms and there is no key for the lock. Also the internal paper is tatty, scuffed and torn and badly stained, but still dry and perfectly usable. For as accurate a representation/description as possible. Old Antique Odd Narrow Chest of 5 Drawers, Beaded Pine, Distressed Primitive
Here's an interesting old or antique piece of furniture we received recently with some estate items. This one is a bench made or homemade piece we're guessing is from the 1890's to 1920's. This is a very narrow 5 drawer chest of drawers. It is aged and distressed in appearance and in more recent years has been used to store stuff in a homeowner's workshop. It has a faded green color with a marked and paint spotted top as shown. Whoever made this had some skill with wood and the joints of the drawers and the tongue and groove joints on the boards on the back. And how the drawer bottoms were added show this knowledge being used when this was made. The sides are beaded pine panels. The wood knobs on the front are all different colors and note that at the bottom there were once two knobs or a handle used where there are two ... moredrill holes and one knob looks off center in it's hole. For those who enjoy the look of antique, aged and distressed furniture this may be appealing. To those who look for furniture to refinish, paint cottage white, or otherwise recycle this one should look good when completed also. So perhaps some good decor possibilities with a practical use value as well. This piece seems to be structurally sound with some nice trim detailing though still simple or primitive in appearance. Being narrow it may have some good potential for use in hard to decorate areas of the home. This tall chest of drawers is about 18 inches wide, 21.25 deep, and 40.25 inches tall. That's about it. Antique victorian blanket box trunk vintage wooden chest pine coffee table old
An old original Victorian blanket box. As its well over a hundred years old. It will have marks, old wood worm holes, small bows and splits but I think it all adds charm. The box was fully treated for woodworm to be safe and secure from any little beasties several weeks ago Inside has the original fish tail hinges and it still has its lock and upper keep in the lid but the key is long gone lost over time The chest has a nice shiny bri wax finish. Its a early example made from pine not heavy very light to lift. Unlike later examples. One side has trim on the edge the other does not see pictures. Could be used as a coffee table or look fab in a room for the old world look. Here we have a wonderful antique wooden pine steamer trunk or chest in used antique condition. Probably from the late 1800's.Looks just like it could be a pirate chest. Or maybe it was a stagecoach trunk in the wild west. Would make a terrific movie. Play, bar, or restaurant prop. Made of metal and wood. Very beautiful. Wooden strips on the top.Has beautiful copper or brass rivets all over. This is a really nice old trunk. Has iron handles. Wooden interior. Trunk measures about 45 inches by 24 inches by 28 inches. Hardware is original. No Keys for the two locks. Locks look fine and are unlocked. You can probably find a key here on Ebay. Antique Pine Chest - Vintage Quilt & Storage Chest
Beautiful- very nice pine chest- see pictures. The edges are jointed(don't know the specific name for this craftsmanship) but clearly work of a master craftsman. The lock and key are definitely a different era. Small storage box built inside. My wife inherited this from her grandfather's estate. We don't have the room anymore. I looked up similar items for pricing $500-1500.00. Size is 46x26x26 inches. Not certain if this is truly an antique or a reproduction. The hinges on the lid are modern but appear to have been replaced. This piece won't last. It's great for decor, or for storing blankets or winter clothes, or for odds and ends. We just don't have room for it. Local pick-up only.
