Condition: Used Location: Fairfield, United States We are pleased to be offering today what I believe to be a bench made custom solid tiger sawn oak Chippendale raised panel all the way around cabriole ... moreleg flat top desk that dates from the 1890's. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

The large upper cabinet has flexible. Movable ... moreshelves and period glass doors. It rests atop a cylinder or roll top desk area with a small drawer and several pigeon holes. The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper cabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. See picture) There is also significant wear to the felted writing surface. No other significant damage or repairs. The entire desk stands about 88" 7'4" tall. It is 36" wide and 24" deep at the largest points. This piece is listed for'local pickup only' We encourage buyers to stop by our 11.000 square foot shop to preview this amazing piece in person. We purchased a small lot of refinished antiques from an adorable couple, and this antique library table was one of the pieces. This beautiful table features an ogee bevel edge, round corner top, and is all tiger sawn oak with a large dove tail drawer in the front. It has cabriole legs that come down into a bottom shelf support and terminate in a detail toenail claw foot. The desk is 38 inches wide, 26 inches deep and 29.75 inches high. The bottom shelf is 9 inches high. The size of the large drawer is 31 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep.

It is an unusual desk with drawers opening on both sides and one door on both sides. Each side has a center drawer, a right-hand drawer, and a right-hand door. The desk was refinished in the last 10 years or so and whoever it was did a wonderful job. The desk has dainty carved cabriole legs with brass fillagree on the elbows and castors. The drawers are all dove tail with brass ribbed knobs. The doors have locks, but there is no key. The desk is in wonderful condition apart from two small cracks on the solid oak top that has nothing to do with structure and you wouldn’t want to touch it. The overall size is 52 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 30 inches high.

This is a wonderful size desk that could be easily utilized in most any room of your home. This desk offers splendid incised carvings on each side. Applied carved buttons on the top and sides and lovely gingerbread carvings below the top shelf and the inside desk area, and with what we believe to be the original brass hardware. This desk measures 47 inches in height.26 inches wide,17 inches deep and the deepest portion and weighs approximately 50 lbs. The inside writing desk area measures 24 1/2 inches wide,19 inches deep and 29 inches in height to the floor when opened. Antique Victorian Oak Gothic Revival Butlers Desk Mid 1800's
Beautiful Oak Butlers Desk from the middle of last century(1840's to 1870's) Nice condition with some minor issues that you would expect from being used over the last century and a half. Oak is the main wood with Walnut and Birds Eye Maple as the secondary(drawer fronts and desk top) Needs a cleaning and a light touch up but otherwise a great desk that would make a statement in your home! Scuffing along the bottom where the shoes would be as you sat there and one spot on the top(picture 11) Light scratching along the front and top as normal wear would occur. Tall Antique Victorian Oak Cylinder Desk Carved Secretary Glass Front Shelves
Fantastic Victorian era cylinder top desk. Made from oak with pine secondary woods. Panelled back and sides. The large upper cabinet has flexible. Movable shelves and period glass doors. It rests atop a cylinder or roll top desk area with a small drawer and several pigeon holes. The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper ... morecabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. This is a very pretty ladies desk owned by the seller’s family for over 40 years. It has a low applied scroll-carved crest rail over the wide hinged curved slant front and cabriole legs. A fitted interior. Long curved front drawer and two smaller curved front drawers complement the design. Height at center back 42 5/8" Width of cabinet 27 1/2" Depth of cabinet 14 1/4" Width of legs 29 1/2" Depth of legs 16 3/8" The desk has some wear from years of use. Please review photos. This desk is very well built and sturdy. There is no key and a small block is missing underneath on the right side of the cabinet(under the desk) that could easily be replaced. A Victorian oak Gothic Hand carved writing table in Elizabethan style. Has a metal plate inside draw which reads Chubbs& Son Maker to her Majesty with the address 57 St. Paul's London. Also has the numbers 279128 etched onto the plate. This desk is believed to have been at the Great Exhibitions of the Works of Industry of all nations in the 1850's as a signature table. This is what I was told by the owner yet have no way of confirming this as I am not an expert in this genre. The desk is all original with no modifications and does have some surface scratches and small mild chips to the detailed border. Victorian - Left Sided Secretary - Oak C-1800-1900
The Appraisal states- Victorian sided-secretary is turn of the century. And would date C. 1880's to 1900; the value would be, as is between $3200.00 and $3550.00 in today's retail market. The sided secretary is oak. The crest is curved with a raised center motif with scrolls; the one scroll on the left is missing and the end of the scroll on the right side is missing the outside finial and the inside scroll is missing the end and the main body. There are at least 5 pieces of the entire motif that are missing. The back has vertical pieces of wood in back of the long door department, and there are horizontal pieces of wood in back of the fall front department. The pieces of wood are oak and barely finished. This is a fine example of a quality Victorian oak desk. It was manufactured circa 1890 and sold by the Paine Furniture Co. of Boston. The desk is made from quarter-sawn oak with lots of detail. The condition is excellent with smooth working and well-fitting drawers. Over the desks history the finish has evolved into warm colors with great patina. I do have the key for the desk. This is an Antique 19th Century Victorian Oak Roll Top Desk dating from the late 1800s. It measures 47 1/2 inches wide by 29 1/2 inches from front to back. It is 48 1/4 inches high. On the right there are two regular sized drawers and below them is a very deep drawer that is the size of two drawers in height. This came into us completely stripped from someone who lost the courage to complete the job. We brought the desk in to completely re-glue. Hand sand, made a drawer, made two carved handles and made one wooden knob. You will call me when you see this desk in person to say“John I can’t find it” after you look all over for the replacement parts and I will say“that is because this guy is phenomenal at what he does. The desk is very unusual with swing side ends, which means that they flip around with a latch that allows it to go to the back side so the“S” top(which normally is a pain for people with computers, will not be a problem with this desk) Someone had lost the original thumb latch locks, and has replaced with modern day locks, which work fine. The roll has been all re-canvassed and re-glued so it won’t rip apart as original rolls usually done. The desk has been hand stripped, hand stained, multiple coats of sanding sealer, hand sanded many more times and multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer has been hand rubbed to insure many years

It is an English antique that was originally made around 1890 featuring barley twist legs and stretcher. It is hard to believe all of the wonderful carved features in this writing desk. Each of the four sides is meticulously carved to great detail. These carvings are the most prominent feature of ... morethe desk. The next thing your eye is drawn to are the barley twist turned legs and stretcher. Using a stretcher between the legs allows the heavy desk to remain sturdy even after all these years. The table top is finished with a nice black leather that has gold tooling. This leather is not the original desk leather. The front of the desk has two drawers that work easily. Their handles are part of the carvings on the drawer fronts. The fully finished and carved back has two faux drawers so it looks just like the front. This antique writing desk is really in excellent condition. It is sturdy and strong and we did not find any repairs or breaks on the carvings. The black leather is near perfect. The table top around the edges shows some old minor signs of wear(tiny dents here and there as you would expect to see) Otherwise this desk has stood the test of time remarkably well and would go great in a variety of surroundings.
