This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. ... moreThe cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. This fine 19th century desk features its original brass Eastlake hardware with the key working all the locks on the drawers. The large flat desk top has vintage green felt on the writing surface with a center drawer below with divided compartments and four locking drawers on each side of the knee hole area. This desk is equally lovely on all of its sides so therefore could be a free standing desk in the middle of a room or office. Measurements: 29 in high 54 in. wide 28 in. deep kneehole height 23 in. approximate weight is 135 lbs. This 19th century Eastlake desk is very solid and sturdy and nicely made. The desk has a large carved design on the front of the fall front desk top and opens to reveal pigeon holes. Slots and two small drawers within the desk itself. Pieces like these are extremely hard to find and this size. This Victorian Eastlake piece is completely original, from a Hudson Valley Estate. The top features a two-door cabinet for transferware dishes, or could be used in a library for books. The glass is original wavy glass used from that time period. There are two adjustable shelves. The middle features a drop down desk complete with lock and key, original letter and paper slots, two drawers with milk glass knobs. The bottom features three drawers with original locks. Antique carved walnut escutcheon keyhole covers and stamped brass and ebonized wood teardrop finial handles. For your consideration, this wonderful solid Walnut Victorian C-Roll Top Desk with Burl Accents(Circa: 1880) This handsome Desk weighs approximately 240 pounds and measures 45 ¾” in total height, 30 ¾” in height from the floor to the top of the writing surface, 48” in width, and 29” in depth. The details on this desk are understated and elegant. The C-roll top is graced with fluted moulding on the sides and opens to reveal the interior compartment. The interior compartment consists of seven storage slots and two small fluted drawers along with two ebonized pen/pencil holders and a green felt writing surface. The base of this wonderful desk consists of five drawers that are adorned with lovely fluted moulding and burl-clad pulls. The simplicity of design of this splendid piece is more in the lightly adorned style that Eastlake preferred. Much of his work was interpreted with more embellishment. Generally disdained by the influential designer. This example in finished in butternut glaze on solid cherry wood. Original late 19th century(gorgeous from every angle) carved walnut desk. The original brass pulls are well intact. The drawer pulls with ease and it has a lock with no original key. The finish wood at the top and sides of the desk is a fine tight burl veneer. The desk top has been re-covered in its past with a tapestry with chrysanthemums and/or peonies. There are holes, pulls and wear into the tapestry. There is some surface wear in the wood at the corners and areas where one would expect from an item that has seen continued use. It is all intact& strong. At the top are a few very small pieces of burl veneer missing. but the tiny spots are old and smooth from, as above mentioned, continued use. Solid walnut with burl panels. The lustrous finish is in excellent condition. The roll top is matched burl, it has a long dent across the center, see photos. Inside is a pull out writing surface with a"brand" mark in natural saddle leather. There are small cubicles and drawers for papers. The removable bookcase upper section has original wavy glass in the doors. Shelves adjust on wooden supports and the lock and key still work.
