This chair was paired up with a cabinet sewing machine that was most likely a Necchi Nora model. But that has not been with the chair for quite some time. It is a unique sewing machine stool bench chair with a hidden storage drawer that opens on the right side. It is mid century modern time period, most likely the 50's. The vinyl seat is an avocado green and is a softer green than the'chair pad' reads in the picture and truer to the color in the'full chair' pictures. The chair measures: 16 1/2" wide X 28 1/2" tall X 15 1/2" deep. The chair is extremely sturdy and functional. It would also be the perfect chair for a computer desk with the extra hidden storage drawer. It is more of a blonde colored wood in oak and would look beautiful restrained or painted.

All of the drawers are inlaid with satinwood stringing, each drawer is hand dovetailed, the brass hardware pulls and escutcheons are original, the hidden drawer is shaped and in the interior section behind small door, bracket feet are original, secondary wood is pine and the back boards of pine are hand planed. ANTIQUE JAPANESE MEIJI ERA 8 DRAWER + HIDDEN DRAWER TANSU DOCUMENT DESK - CHEST
Known as a chobadansu. Or a Tsukue-dansu(writing desk) this tansu chest was made and used about 110 years ago in the late Meiji period(c. 1900) This style chest was intended to sit on the tatami floor and act as a writing desk being the perfect height for the person sitting on the floor to easily and comfortably put pen to paper. It has a nice configuration of 8 drawers as well as two sliding doors. The various drawers were of a size that could hold everything from large pieces of writing paper and accounts as well as smaller drawers used to store brushes. Inks, and valuables. Recessed side handles on both sides made this chest easily portable(see picture 5) In addition there is a very special"hidden" drawer on the underside of one of the middle drawers(see picture 10) This drawer could only be accessed by removing the drawer and ... moreturning it upside down and sliding out a hidden panel(see picture 10) This is where the accountant(or owner) would store his cash or valuables. The Meiji era coins seen in the hidden compartment will be included with this tansu. All original(including patina and finish) This tansu chest is made of solid keyaki(zelkova) wood with sugi(cryptomeria) wood interiors and hardened hinoki wood peg construction(see picture 11) All the hardware is made of hand forged copper with handles in the classic mokko(melon) shape. All eight drawers as well as the panel on the hidden section and the two doors move easily without binding. With the exception of a few minor ink stains on the top and front. see enlarged pictures) and a 100+ year old warm aged patina this chest remains in very fine condition and should serve one well for another century of use. It measures 23" wide by 12" high by 11 3/4" deep(58 x 30 x 29 cm) A great piece of Japanese history and a very interesting and functional piece of furniture. You'll love it. Antique Mahogany Fitted Lap Desk Box With Hidden Drawer & Brass Handles
Antique mahogany fitted interior lap desk box. Circa 1850's. The box has solid brass handles on each side. One handle hides a sliding"secret" drawer held in place by an interior pin. The box measures about 20" wide x 10" deep x 6 1/2" tall when in the closed position. The fitted interior has two storage areas. One storage compartment is held in place by a brass latch. The second area originally has some type of pull that is not present. There are storage areas for pens etc. and ink bottles. The box has a lock, no key. The box is in good used antique condition. Celluloid or Bakelite bank with a tin plate back marked Park Sherman. It looks like a six drawer high boy dresser. The top drawer pulls open to receive the coins. When pushed closed the bottom of the drawer drops down to drop the coins inside. The back edge bottom right side has a small split The tin back has a disc that opens up that is missing. I believe it is early 1900's but not sure. It could be earlier. It is in average condition. Legs& chassis are in pretty good condition. Legs could use some stain but since I'm not an antique guy. I didn't touch it. Solid piece of furniture. Very unusual the way top slides to reveal a hidden drawer& folds out into a 30' x 28' table. Hinges are metal. This is a fantastic antique/vintage wood desk with an oriental designed veneer and hidden drawer on the inside. All original old hardware. Lots of drawers and storage. There are some signs of distress due to aging on the left side drawer but it doesn't take away from the unique look and use of this piece. Is missing one hardware"pull" for the brace, so the brace doesn't pull out. But I've used it with one brace and I'm sure this one small piece could be replaced. The top folds out for writing. Inside there are two pulls that reveal a hidden drawer. Desk measurements are approximately 33 1/2" wide. 53" tall. The fold-out part of the desk(writing surface) is approximately 32" x 18. Some look military as the lady was married to a gents from the first world war and this has been passed through the family but not used in 30 odd years maybe a lot more we have lifted just a few large mixed buttons from the base there's some lovely ones and sooooo many more It will need work if you want perfect but this is used and box that's been loved for what it was made for a working decorative item Ok so the wood needs work. The brass plate of the top needs refitting, the brass around the out edges needs cleaning, there's some filling some cleaning and some repairs needed, The locks are the originals but no keys ... moreand damaged but we have found the lock making firm who are still around WOW they started making locks in 1734 so you may get similar replacements. The Secret draw to the base has tools missing, and the secret file at the top has a rip, In the removable tray the compartment dividers need refitting properly and possibly some repair. So there the bad bits if you want to call it that the good bits THIS BOX IS STUNNING outside and in its a great box I would keep it as it is. I mean I hope I look this good when I am a 140 years or more old! its beautiful and the leather Finnish on the inside with gilt pattern design just makes it even better PLUS you get the collection of buttons pins and tools that were in it everything you see in the pictures, so whether you repair, restore or leave as is its a beautiful item The Crest on the centre plaque is the Cubit Arm in armour holding an Anchor with a crest underneath it that we can not work out. Hello. This is a Nature Turns 8 drawer Aspen wood Jewelery box with a hidden drawer compartment. Tag on box is from Cabella's $124.99. This box was given to me gently used. There is 2 nicks in the wood on top of box(see pics) there are other natural nicks on the wood as it is a real log carved box but these 2 I am not sure how long they have been there or if it is just part of the natural nicks. But I wanted them to be mentioned. Drawers are lined with maroon red felt/velvet material. Top middle drawer the felt has bled into the wood a little but this is not visible when drawer is closed. Drawer measurements: starting top left. Circa 1890 Mahogany Hidden drawer Small split to corner General wear Sturdy. Good working condition No key, This is a large antique writing box with a hidden drawer! A very exciting piece that comes from England where it was made sometime around the year 1890. This particular antique writing box is made from lovely mahogany wood. It features a rectangular brass plaque and a brass keyhole escutcheon. Unfortunately. The key no longer remains. Both the right and left sides have lovely brass handles that are recessed into the box themselves. Inside is a lovely purple ... morevelvet writing slope. Both sides of the slope lift up for storage. One end is fitted with small compartments with lift up lids. These lids have replaced knobs on the top. While the slope is open, a small brass pin can be pulled up and removed to allow you to open the hidden drawer on the left side. This drawer extends the entire width of the box, so it is quite large. A neat little bonus on an already interesting piece. The condition of this box is good. There is minor cosmetic wear(some would consider it distressing) throughout. The purple felt is old and has stains in various places. There is one small split on the upper left corner of the front of the box. However. The box is sturdy, and strong. The hinges are strong and work easily. This is a beautiful antique writing box that would make a great addition to any home for display or as a conversation piece. This antique writing box has an elegant look to it. And is quite large. A royal purple felt lines the writing surface. Removing the small brass pin allows you to open the hidden drawer.
