It has 3 hidden compartments and lots of pigeon holes and small drawers. It comes with the keys for the upper hutch. The fold down desk and the small door inside but not the drawers below. It has the original glass, which is wavy and has bubbles in it, in both panels on the left side but not on the right side. One pane is missing on the right side but would be easy enough to replace. Lots of character on this gorgeous old piece. It measures 81 inches high, 47 inches wide and is 23-1/2 inches deep at the bottom. It comes apart in two pieces so the bottom part is 41-1/2 inches high, 47 wide and 23-1/2 deep and the top part is 39-1/2 inches high, 47 inches wide and 12 inches deep. I live in Santa Cruz but delivery is possible anywhere in the San Francisco or Monterey bay areas(or nearby) if you cover my expenses or we negotiate it into the selling price. New lowered reserve- This Secretary Desk was purchased in New York@ the end of the 19th Century and was passed down from my great great Grandmother finally to me. I couldn’t find any specific maker or label anywhere. But I just might not know where to look. It’s in pretty good overall condition considering its age. My Grandmother said it was from 1897( 115 years old) She died in 1982 and I have had it since. There is one portion near the top edge( 3rd from last pic) which must have come off when I moved last year, but it seems nominal and the repair should be straight forward. I was able to simply hide this in a right side corner configuration and it was not really noticeable looking at it from the left side or straight on, only unless you were looking from the right. The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. FINE EARLY FEDERAL RARE DOUBLE TAMBOUR DOORS MAHOGANY SECRETARY DESK CIRCA 1800 Early 19th century. In two parts. The rectangular upper section with tambour slides flanked by simulated tambours opening to an interior fitted with an arrangement of drawers and valanced pigeon holes fitted to and set back upon the conforming lower case with hinged lid opening to a baise lined writing surface supported by lopers centering a pair of aligned thumb-molded short drawers above a pair of serpentine tambour slides flanked by demilune simulated tambours, the case raised on square tapering legs with string inlay outlines. SIZE: 45" h x 38" w x 20-1/4" d. CONDITION: Desk retains original surfaces with overall minor cosmetic veneer repairs. Brass hardware appear to be later period replacements. An old repair above lockplate on proper left ... moretambour door upper section. Minor inlay losses. The lower inside shelf has been partially replaced and that section has been cracked and glued back together. Does not distract from the integrity of the piece.
