You are bidding on a RARE pair of antique scissors. These scissors have such a unique shape and after much internet research I still have not been able to find out what they were used for. A consultation with a fashion designer had suggested they may have been used for industrial trimming. Cutting or for a tailor. Another ebay member kindly gave me the information that these are fetlock scissors which I then researched and found out they were used for horse grooming. Quite interesting find. The handles are offset and the blade has a very pronounced curve. I took a photo of the scissors upside down to show the unique shape. They are 8 1/4 inches long. Rare Dutch 18th Century Silver And Silver Gilt Figural Scissors Depicting A Landsknecht Holding A Sword Description: A truly nice and rare silver and silver gilt figural scissors depicting a Landsknecht holding a sword. Landsknechts were European. Most often German, mercenary pike men and supporting foot soldiers from the late 15th to the late 16th century. And achieved the reputation for being the universal mercenary of the European Renaissance. The sword. Hold by the figure is actually the blade of the scissors that are made of steel. These scissors are of Dutch manufacture and remind the corkscrews made in Holland during the 18th century. These antique scissors have fully intact blades and points and they cut all the way up to the tips. The steel still has a lovely polished surface with some natural pitting due to time. Vintage Stork Sewing Scissors 1930's, Westfield Germany, RARE bird embroidery
I have a pair of Vintage stork/bird embroidery scissors. Dated to the early 1930's or before. This pair of scissors is marked Westfield MFG Germany, and was originally gold plated but the gold has worn down over the years. There is no other damage to the scissors, they are in original condition, i have not tried to polish them or alter them in any way. I have found similar scissors posted online, but i have not been able to find any from Westfield Germany, which leads me to believe they are slightly rarer then other types. Vintage STORK SCISSORS Rare Larger Size! MEASURE 6 1/4" LONG
These rare larger sized stork scissors have been in my antique scissor collection for nearly 30 years. I don't know their origin or actual age but I've never seen another pair that is this larger size. They measure 6 1/4" long and 2" wide and are in working condition. The tip of the blades are bent but I don't think they were manufactured that way. I suspect they were used like a tool to pry something open which caused the blades to bend. There is also some tarnish along the blades due to their age. I can find no maker's mark. I was a quite an active seamstress for many years and I displayed my collection of antique scissors in an ornate frame on the wall in my sewing room. We're downsizing now and I'm letting go of many of my extraordinary possessions after 40 years of enthusiastic collecting and I'm ... morehoping that someone new will enjoy the beauty of these antique scissors as much as I have.

SHARP Rare collectible engraved tailor scissors shears antique brass
These very nice Townshend& Thompson scissors were made in Birmingham around the 1900s. They feature triangular blades and beautiful Art Nouveau brass handles that represent two Celtic warriors looking at each other. I cleaned them. Tightened the brass around the steel tangs(there is only a tiny amount of play left) gave the blades a good sharpening and polished everything. They cut so well they can be used to cut hair, fabric, paper and even food! P.S. I'll always do my best to allow you to save on shipping. Vintage STORK SCISSORS Rare 4 1/2" LARGER SIZE made In Germany
These German made stork scissors are very uncommon because of their larger size. They measure 4 1/2" long and 1 5/8" wide. They're in good working condition but there are tarnish spots consistent with their advanced age. There is a manufacturer's name stamped on the metal near the joint but I can't make out the name. Germany is clearly stamped below it. I can find no other markings. I've enjoyed collecting unusual vintage sewing scissors for many years and I displayed my collection in an ornate frame on the wall in my sewing room. We're downsizing now and I'm letting go of many of my extraordinary possessions after 40 years of enthusiastic collecting and I'm hoping that someone new will enjoy the beauty of these antique scissors as much as I have.
