Antique Steel Embroidery Scissors with Decorative Brass Sheath. 4 5/8 inches long, unmarked, probably European, probably late 1800’s, the scissors are undecorated and the steel has discoloration from oxidation, one tip is slightly bent, the brass sheath is 2 ¼ inches long and has an embossed design, there is discoloration from oxidation but no cracks in the seams, beautiful design is on both sides, the sheath was a necessary item to keep one from poking oneself with sharp embroidery scissors, they often became lost, this is a very nice example of an early sewing tool even though it is on a very ordinary pair of scissors.
