This shuttle tool consists of two pieces. The center piece is removable from the main piece, it has two thin metal rings that have a 1 3/4" opening. When you remove the center piece the main piece has brushes on each side near one of the ends. This is a used long boat shuttle and appears to be in all original condition. There a couple places with scratches from use as can be seen in the pictures. The main part of the shuttle measures 17" long by 2" wide and 1 1/2" tall. This is an antique Sewing Tatting Shuttle with pick. It says GERSILVER. Which is not German silver, but an alloy made of copper, zinc& nickel. It measures 3 1/4 inches long and still has some thread on it. There is fancy work on both sides of the shuttle. The Tatting Shuttle was popular in the 1800 to 1900's when it began to fade in popularity. Good addition to your collection.
