Antique Steel Embroidery Scissors with Decorative Brass Sheath. 4 5/8 inches long, unmarked, probably European, probably late 1800’s, the scissors are undecorated and the steel has discoloration from oxidation, one tip is slightly bent, the brass sheath is 2 ¼ inches long and has an embossed design, there is discoloration from oxidation but no cracks in the seams, beautiful design is on both sides, the sheath was a necessary item to keep one from poking oneself with sharp embroidery scissors, they often became lost, this is a very nice example of an early sewing tool even though it is on a very ordinary pair of scissors. From the early 1900's Manual Wind Cloth Measuring Sewing Tape In Brass Case 60" Well used and patinated brass case manual wind cloth sewing measure. Fully pulled out the last number is 59 but since the case is just over 1 inch that makes 60. Well used with numbers on first foot of tape a little worn. Also cloth on first foot of tape is a little less wide than the rest from use. Upper numbers brighter. Wind mechanism working properly. No maker's marks on case. Nice antique sewing measure. A Nice Addition To A Figural Tape Measure Collection A Vintage Brass Water Wheel Or Mill Figural Tape Measure With A Water Wheel That Turns When The Tape Is Pulled Out Or Retracts! This tape is found on page 121 of Arbittier& Morphy's Collecting Figural Tape Measures. According to the authors. This is a value index 4 on their scale of 5. This brass tape measure is in good condition and has a beautiful patina. The brass brass building is all there. Including the stairs up the back of the building. There are no cracks or breaks. The tape is mechanical. The water wheel moves when you pull the tape out and retracts when the tape releases. The tape is tan silk. Inches are marked on both sides. The silk is all there. But it is fragile so I have not pulled it out very far. The piece of metal that is the pull tab is present but the silk is ... moreslightly ripped. Antique Brass Scissors Style Candle Snuffer and Wick Trimmer
Antique Brass Wick Trimmer Scissors Style Candle Snuffer For Your Antique Candle Snuffer Collection Details Description: Antique scissors type candle snuffer and wick trimmer. This snuffer is made of cast brass. As we inspect the snuffer we recognize that the two ends of the scissors are different. One has more rounded curves and a ball at the end of the foot(silmilar to the fot at the tip of the piece) while the other is lightly curved with a more straight foot. Based on that we reach the conclusion that the scissor handle with the lightly curved profile is not original to the piece and was soldered to the piece at a later date. This is evidenced by the solder marks on the back. The piece has a wick snuffing box on top and a pointed end. The loops of the scissors handles are unmatched which clearly indicates that the handle to the right ... morein not original to the piece. The scissors handles pivot on a central spot and the entire piece rests on three legs. It was purchased from a country estate sale. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Late 1800s to early 1900s. Origin: Was purchased at an estate sale in Southeast Pennsylvania Size: The snuffer measures 6 3/4" long. 2 3/8" at its widest point(at the end of the scissors' handles) stands 3/4" off the ground and is 1 5/8" at its highest point. Maker: Unknown. Marks: Unmarked. Distinguishing Characteristics- Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice classic antique. Condition: The piece is in fair condition given its age and utilitarian function. It was obviously damaged and repaired at a later date by soldering a different scissor handle to make it work. This period repair was probably done by the original owner and the piece still works and as such this is a very unusual piece. It has few Scratches and Nicks and the catch box has residue in it. Description Antique Victorian forged steel sewing button hole scissors with brass adjusting screw. DATE The scissors date to the end of the 19th century. Circa 1890. SIZE The scissors measure 11.5cm(4½" long and 4.5cm(1¾" wide(across handles) CONDITION The scissors are in a very good condition for age with fully working blades with no damage to the tips. It is in excellent condition with no dents. Loss or other damage. The finely woven tape is original and complete. It is marked in inches and is 60" long. The brass winder handle on top winds the tape back in and it works perfectly. This vintage/antique novelty brass sewing tape measure is in very good condition with no damage. But it does have some light scratches(mostly on the back) and minor spotty finish wear. The 40" long double sided blue cloth tape is intact with no tears or repairs, but it also has some minor wear. To wind the tape, you simply turn the bow on the top of the 2 1/2" long x 1" wide x 3/4" thick violin. I listed the tape measure in both the antique and vintage categories because I'm not 100% sure of its age(I seen them listed as c.1900-1930's) The tape measure is being sold with no reserve and no buy it now. This is an antique right handed shear made by R.H Hienisch inventor Newark New Jersey U.S.A. I picked this up at a recent antique tool club meeting thinking that they were very cool. I don't have a use for them so they must go to someone who does. These would be great for display in a collection. This is an antique tailor's dressmaking shears scissors in iron and brass and measure 12" long. The blades are in excellent condition and still make a wonderful cut and these shears feel great in the hand. The handles are painted with black enamel that has worn off in places. The company was started in 1857 by French immigrant Pierre Emmanuel Guerin and has been at its current location on Jane Street in Greenwich Village since 1892. Pierre Emmanuel Guerin was one of the pioneers in artistic metalwork in New York City. The business was later passed on to Pierre's son, Emmanuel Pierre Guerin, followed by his son's wife Marguerita V. Guerin, and then his great nephew, Arthur C. Ward.
