Vintage 1800's 16" Scissors Shears Dressmaking Tailor No Rsv Antique Industrial?
This auction is for a really great pair of antique scissors. They measure about 16 inches in length! They have what appears to be a brass hinge. We've seen others that were virtually identical listed as being faintly marked from 1845& made in New York. We can't find a stamp mark on ours. But believe that it could be there but due to age we can't see it. We were tempted to try to polish them up to see if we could find anything, but don't want to ruin the lovely patina these have. The blades are still straight and sharp and they cut very well. These are very big and very heavy! Please see pictures as they are part of the description. The person knitting would place the sheath inside his or her waist band then insert the end of her knitting needle into the small hole in the end of the handle. This allowed for continued knitting while traveling on a long horse and buggy ride or ocean voyage. This piece of folk art is rich in details carved the full length of the shaft. It bears the initials EH x H. It belonged to a woman born in Northern England in the mid 1800's. Her name was Elizabeth Hetherington(or possibly spelled Heatherington) It measures approximately 2-1/2 inches wide by 10-1/2 inches long. It is in excellent gently used condition with no chips. Here is a Antique Vintage Sewing Tools 1800's Wood Triple Hinged Dove Tail with Velvet interior Case with Tools. From my research this shows to be from the late 1800's. As you can see from the pictures the case is in great condition with all the hinges working perfectly. The tools inside seem to be in pretty good condition with a few showing surface rust. The Velvet in the case seems to be in pretty good condition as well. The front of the case is stamped but I cannot make it out. This is a true rare find for any collector. I am disposing of my Great Aunts' estate and will be selling several really nice items from this estate over the next several months. Here is a very old sewing tape measure. It is metal and shaped like an iron. The handle appears to be bone. It has a rewinding handle on the end. I did not unwind it fully as it is fragile. As you can see, 1-inch is missing, there is no other damage. I think it is from Germany as that is where my Aunt's family was from. It measures 2-inches long. A nice addition for your collection. These Scissors or Shears were made or imported sometime between 1824 and 1837 by C. Klauberg. C. Klauberg was an importer of Cutlery in New York City from the Early 1800's to Early 1900's. The address in the Makers Mark is 173 Williams St. New York. NY. He moved his business to in 1824 and in 1837 the business was renamed C.Klauberg& Bros. Placing this item sometime between those two dates. This Set of Scissors or Shears would be used for cutting multiple layers of material. However, I think its cutting days are behind it. Scissors7 Antique Steel Scissors& Sterling Silver Sheath English* Circa 1800 These antique scissors are steel and simply and elegantly shaped. They come in a sterling silver(tested) sheath dating to c. 1790-1810. The sheath has a scrolling monogram on one side( MEB) The scissors measure 3 3/4" long. 3 7/8" long in the sheath. The blades are tight with intact points and they cut well. The bows are slightly different shapes and it's hard to tell if they were made that way or if it came from use. The sheath has a few minor dings but is in overall excellent condition with no other damage and t he scissors fit well. ANTIQUE PLAITER PLEATER WITH 52 BAR NEEDLES 1800'S
Up for auction is an antique wood plaiter/pleater with two rows of 82 metal loops and 52 bars/needles. I believe these date from around the late 1800's. And were used for making pleats and smocking techniques. Pleater is 17" long by 1" tall(side) by 8" wide. The wood and metal all have a nice patina from age and wear. There are no manufactures label or directions. Shagreen Antique Steel Scissors in Shagreen& Sterling Silver Case English* Circa 1800 These unusual steel scissors are in a wonderful fitted sheath made of shagreen and trimmed with sterling silver(tested) Shagreen is from the skin of a shark or ray and is usually dyed green. The sheath is in great condition with no tears or loss of the shagreen and no dents in the silver. The scissors have tight blades. Sharp points and cut pretty well. They're in nice condition with no rust and they fit snugly into the sheath. The scissors are 3 7/8" long and the sheath measures 3 1/2" long x almost 1" wide at the top. The original tape is present and in very good condition with the original metal stop in place. The writing on the tape though is so faded that it's all but impossible to read. I believe it go's to 76" The body has one small crack to the top panel. Measuring about.04cm. The mechanism is a hand crank. All is in perfect antique condition. The tape measure is approximately 2.7cm x 2cm and is from France from the early 1800's. This item was in my grandparents estate. We have a HUGE original Rochus Heinisch tailor scissors from the mid to late 1800's. Tailors referred to this shear as"instruments of torture, considering its massive size and sharp shears. The handles are made of iron, while the shears are solid steel. The brass-cap is marked with the maker's mark"R. Heinisch Inventor Newark NJ USA. The iron handle has a unique thumb rest, making this pair one of the most comfortable working shears. In addition to the comfort, this pair is also efficient- the length of the blades enables a longer straight cut so the workman can accomplish more in a shorter time. I am offering for sale in my shop& fresh from an old estate an exceptional Antique EMBROIDERY HOOP ON STAND with a hinged lid box attached below the bentwood hoop. The wood is Walnut circa 1800’s. Rectangular base has a beveled edge and for storage is a hinged dove tail lid box attached to the base below the bentwood hoop. The hoop swivels on tops of the uprights post. This stand is in perfect condition with no damage or repairs. The bent wood hoops appear to be made with no seams and is a continuous circle. The overall stand measures 13 inches high from the base to the top of the hoop. The base measures 13 inches wide& 6.5 inches deep. The hoop measures 8.5 inches diameter. The small storage box measures 5.75 inches by 3 inches deep and 1.75 inches high. This little gem has no cracks. Chips or repairs.
