All the scissors are in great used condition.The first pair(pics 2-4) shows a crane or stork form and measures 4 inches tall by 1.5" long from side to side at their handles. This pair shows some fairly light surface discolorations from use and from age.I also see surface discoloration on the inside of the scissors. This auction is for a gorgeous pair of small sterling handled embroidery scissors. They measure 3 1/2 inches long. I believe they are from the mid 1800's. You can see the small round mark on the top handle in photo 2.this reads. sterling silver" and other hallmarks that I cannot make out. The blades are marked, Germany" the only flaws I see are that one blade has a tiny bit broken off(photo 9) and when the handles are closed the blades don't match up perfectly.only when the handles cross a tiny bit(photo 8) Gorgeous pair of beautifully made early scissors. This auction is for a very neat pair of antique embroidery scissors in the shape of a bird or stork. The scissors measure almost 4 inches long. They are in excellent condition and still work beautifully. I believe they were gold plated. But some of the gold has rubbed off over time. The stamp inside the scissor(photo 4) says, H H Hill, Solingen, Germany" Sorry it is so hard to see. It is very clear with a magnifying glass. These were made in the early 1900's. All of the sewing items that I have listed this week came from the estate of a very prominent seamstress/needleworker/teacher from the Chicago area. Prior to that the firm was known as White& Foster. From around 1873 up until 1878. Between 1898 and 1951 the company continued to operate under the name. However it used the same" F&B Sterling" hallmark on its silver as Foster and Bailey. Which can make it difficult to determine when a piece was made. The firm was based in Providence. R.I. An Early 19th cent. Gold Embroidery Scissors Description: These elegant gold scissors features nice embossed gold handles and gold finger rings. The are hallamrked within the finger holes with the maker's mark and on the rim with a left facing RAM's HEAD. this hallmark was used from August 16. 1819 to May 9, 1938. Finding this mark indicates the item has tested with limited warranty by touchstone to be a minimum of 750/18kt gold. Origin of the mark is Paris. France Tapering carbon steels blades. They have tight blades and intact points and cut like new right to the tips. The condition is very good. They are stamped with the French boar's head silver hallmark used on 800/1000 pure silver made in Paris. The steel blades still have most of the original polish and they cut but could use sharpening. Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Handled Embroidery Sewing Scissors Perfect!
These beautiful little embroidery scissors are 3 ½ inches in length. With 1 ½ inch blades. The handles are stamped“STERLING” in two places and the blades are very sharp with an excellent‘bite’ They are not loose. There is slight oxidation on the blades but no pitting; this should clean up well. The sterling handles are festooned with flowers, and are in their original, as-found condition; I wiped them but did not polish. In as close to perfect condition as 100 year old, as-found scissors can be. These will be padded and in a box, inside a bubble envelope, for shipment unless you request something other. A Three-Colour 18Ct Gold Hllmkd Embroidery Scissors Paris. 1819-38 Description: Wonderful French embroidery scissors with tapering steel blades of oval section with hand cut tang. Yellow gold matted handles with two-colour floral scrolls in relief to plain loops decorated on the outer rims with a scrolling floral pattern. Hallmarked with the French guarantee mark of the ram’s head used for Parisian high carat gold between 1819-38. The mark guarantee this is solid 18k gold and it can be found on the outer right finger hole where it gets in touch with the left loop. They have tight blades and intact points and cut like new except for the tips(they could be easily sharpened) The condition is excellent with no damage to report. No dents or restoration work. VINTAGE ORNATE ROSE ART DECO 2 PAIR EMBROIDERY SEWING SCISSORS USA WITH CASE EXC
These are two pair of very old Art Deco Embroidery Scissors that belonged to my Mom and Grandma. My Grandma used to carry hers in her apron pocket and when a string or something needed clipping she would get them out. They were both avid knitters and embroiders and they used these scissors for many years. One of the pair of scissors still comes in its original plastic snap case. Which is in good condition. Both pairs have USA stamped on them. Both pair of scissors are in very good condition. One pair has some tarnish, and the other pair is just shiny without tarnish. Maybe a goose? Foliage around the bows creates loops at the top so they could be attached to a chatelaine. They are stamped with the dagger hallmark used from 1814-1905 for 833 pure silver. Their style dates them from 1820-1850 and t hey measure 5" long. They are in nice. Usable condition with tight blades and intact points The silver has no repairs or other damage. The blades are stamped with the maker's mark"Leuchars" There is a town in Scotland by that name and William Leuchars was a silversmith in London. This is the first pair of scissors I've had with the name and I'm not sure who the maker is. The scissors still have most of their gilding and are in great condition. The y have intact points and cut beautifully to the tips. They measure not quite 3 1/2" long and 1 1/4" across the bows.
