Sewkit5 Antique Sterling Silver Chatelaine Sewing Kit American* Circa 1900 This wonderful little sewing etui is made of solid sterling silver(tested& guaranteed) It is suspended from a chain and was made to be part of a chatelaine of sewing items. Inside are 2 spools of thread and in the middle is a needle case. The sides are embossed with floral designs and the chain goes through loops on both sides of the top so it can't be lost. LadyCom2 Antique Lady's Companion Sewing Set w/ Sterling Silver& Steel Tools English* Circa 1850s This antique etui is a classic example of a Lady's Companion. It is in the form of a book and covered with brown leather. The sides are gold embossed with scrolls. Birds, fountains and decorative borders. The'spine' is embossed'Lady's Companion' The interior is lined with velvet and printed paper(all original) The leather is in excellent overall condition. Much better than usually seen. The top is gold stamped with the maker or retailer's name, I. Bagshaw, 96 Church Street, Liverpool" It's 4 1/8" tall. 3 1/8" wide and 1 7/8" deep. Some in this style are shown on p. 92 of of Bridget McConnel's book The Story of Antique Needlework Tools. The sterling silver tools(tested) include a ... morethimble. A tape measure, a propelling pencil and a sterling topped perfume bottle. Also included are steel scissors, steel tweezers/earspoon, steel seam knife a spool and a packet of needles. The last two items are in the'secret drawer' below the thimble rest. The steel tools are held in a leather needle book which has moth damage to the wool needle page. The silver tape measure has a silk tape marked in inches and works well to wind in back in. The thimble has an applied band and wriggle work engraving. It has 3 tiny needle holes but you have to look for them. The condition is otherwise excellent. It's about an American size 9(16 mm diameter opening) The little scissors(3 5/8" long) have tight blades and sharp points and cut very well. The propelling pencil works well(twists out the lead) and it holds a 0.7 mm lead. It is stamped with the maker's name. Sampson Mordan. The cut glass perfume bottle has the original glass stopper, a sterling top and has no chips or cracks. The other tools are also in great shape with no damage. Antique Sterling Bodkin Threader Monogrammed M E H From my own vintage and antique sewing items is this wonderful sterling Bodkin threader for weaving lace. Ribbon through eyelets and casings. On the front of the bodkin is a monogram with M E H. On the reverse side is stamped with company logo and Sterling mark and I did try to find who the marking was from but had no luck. The maker mark is a type of shield with a fancy S in the center. The bodkin measures 2 ¾” long by 13/16” at the wide end. There is one hole at the top to put a cord or ribbon through and tie around the neck while working on your next project. Should you have questions please email me before bidding. This pretty hem gauge given to me by my great grandmother carries the hallmark of Webster Company of North Attleboro. Massachusetts. Both side of the handle say sterling, and one side has the Webster and co. logo. It is approximately c1900, but the company began in1894 and became part of Reed and Barton in 1950. These beautiful little embroidery scissors are 3 ½ inches in length. With 1 ½ inch blades. The handles are stamped“STERLING” in two places and the blades are very sharp with an excellent‘bite’ They are not loose. There is slight oxidation on the blades but no pitting; this should clean up well. The sterling handles are festooned with flowers, and are in their original, as-found condition; I wiped them but did not polish. In as close to perfect condition as 100 year old, as-found scissors can be. These will be padded and in a box, inside a bubble envelope, for shipment unless you request something other. Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Sewing Seam Gauge Lady's Profile Circa 1900
This is a lovely Victorian Sterling Silver Seam Gauge Sewing Tool with a profile of a beautiful lady with flowing hair and flowers. Handed down from Great-grandmother and cherished in the well-used sewing box. This seam gauge was produced prior to the Patent date of June 8, 1903. Similar sterling silver gauges by the same maker that are marked 1903 are also numbered 0657, this gauge which is older has an earlier number of 0653. This gauge is in excellent condition, the numbers and measurements are clear and well-defined, the sliding clasp which holds the measurement, works perfectly, there are no noticeable scratches on the gauge. The gauge is hallmarked on the back and says"925 Fine Sterling" and is marked with number 0653. The gauge measures 4 1/4" long and 3/8" wide.

This auction is for an antique sterling silver bodkin or ribbon puller or threader made by the firm R. Blackinton& Co. of North Attleboro. MA, which was formed in 1862. The ribbon threader is used to lace ribbon through a piece of material. This threader is about 4" long and the handle is 7/16" wide at the widest point. And it weighs 9.7 grams. The threader is in excellent condition. And there are no dings or dents. The sterling handle has a smooth feel to it from years of use, and it is still in wonderful condition. Gorgeous Antique French Victorian Sterling Silver Sewing Etui Tools Needlework to start a new paragraph use- A gorgeous. Antique French Victorian solid sterling silver sewing etui, or kit, resplendent with lovely florals, and stippling. Circa mid 1800s, this divine needlework kit includes scissors, needle case, bodkin with wax cup, thimble, and a stiletto. During the Victorian age, the bodkin was used to lace corsets. Some older pieces contained a little"cup" at the end that was used to collect ear wax, which was then used to coat the ends of the corset strings to aid in tying them with ease. All of the pieces are sterling silver. Bearing the head of the boar mark used in France to denote pure 800/1000 sterling. The scissors are sharp, and cut well. The thimble is free of dents or holes, and measures 1.5 cm in diameter. The box ... moreis covered in rich mahogany leather. The sewing tools are all nestled in a burgundy velvet base. The box lid interior is lined with cream satin. This etui is remarkably pristine for a piece that is over 130 years old! Antique Sterling Silver Sewing LOT Scissors Punch Two Thimbles Early Art Nouveau This is an excellent lot of antique sterling silver sewing tools and accessories. This lot includes a set of Scissors(sterling handle only) and punch with matching handles. And two thimbles. I am not sure of any of the makers or exact ages. The scissors have sterling handles. But one of the handles has a very small crack where it meets the scissor blades, and is loose. I do not see any more damage. The punch is in very good condition. The first thimble is stamped Sterling 10 Pat. May 31. 90(1890) It is in very good condition and there is a makers mark faded stamped on the inside of the thimble. The second thimble is stamped 9 and is also in very good condition. Though there is a small pin(or needle) hole at the top. The inside makers mark is also faded on this ... moreone as well. But both may be eligible to the experience eye in these sort of things. All of these pieces are absolutely beautiful. The total weight of JUST THE THIMBLES is 8grams. And the weight of the scissors and punch are 14.8 grams. These would make an excellent addition to any collection.
