Antique Shaker Silk Ribbon Bone Ring Chatelaine Darner~Strawberry Emery~Scissors
Antique Bone Ring Ribbon Chatelaine Hi and Welcome This charming chatelaine dates back to the late 1800's or early 1900's and is likely to have been Shaker made. It's put together with pale blue. Silk ribbon and bone rings(there are 19 rings) woven together to make a chain. The silk ribbon is in fragile and shattering condition but all of the other parts of the set are in amazingly good shape. There's a small. Silk, 2 leaf needlebook and a tiny, strawberry emery made from the same silk with an embroidered top. There's also a pair of 2+5/8" needlework scissors, a 3" glove darner and a 4+1/2" sock darner that look like thy were never used. In fact I don't see any holes in the emery or the needlebook pages, either. It is rare to find a set like this in such good condition. Antique Steel Embroidery Scissors with Decorative Brass Sheath. 4 5/8 inches long, unmarked, probably European, probably late 1800’s, the scissors are undecorated and the steel has discoloration from oxidation, one tip is slightly bent, the brass sheath is 2 ¼ inches long and has an embossed design, there is discoloration from oxidation but no cracks in the seams, beautiful design is on both sides, the sheath was a necessary item to keep one from poking oneself with sharp embroidery scissors, they often became lost, this is a very nice example of an early sewing tool even though it is on a very ordinary pair of scissors. Vintage 1800's 16" Scissors Shears Dressmaking Tailor No Rsv Antique Industrial?
This auction is for a really great pair of antique scissors. They measure about 16 inches in length! They have what appears to be a brass hinge. We've seen others that were virtually identical listed as being faintly marked from 1845& made in New York. We can't find a stamp mark on ours. But believe that it could be there but due to age we can't see it. We were tempted to try to polish them up to see if we could find anything, but don't want to ruin the lovely patina these have. The blades are still straight and sharp and they cut very well. These are very big and very heavy! Please see pictures as they are part of the description. Clifford Kirkpatrick started his company in the early 1930's. He had briefly worked at a dry cleaners and caught on really fast about the procedures. He refined the process and started a door to door business to the cleaning companies to sell his equipment. Specialty chemicals and procedures. One of his companies was in Los Angeles, but he was even known for his cleaning products and equipment internationally. At one time, he changed the name to Kirk's Suede-Life. He sold the business to Suede Products. LLC in 1960. After trying to do a little more research. I am beginning to think that this was an actual tool that was used in the dry cleaning/ ... morewetcleaning process in the cleaners industry. I am really not sure. Whatever it is, it is really cool looking. It measures 28 3/4" long. The handles are wood and the blades are wood. There are 2 small holes in the blades but I am not sure why. Silscis3 Ornate Sheathed Antique Sterling Silver Scissors English* Circa 1840 These wonderfully ornate sterling silver(tested) handled embroidery scissors and their sterling sheath are at least 170 years old. The shanks are modeled with grape clusters and vines. Snakes go around the bows and grapes decorate the sheath. They were made in England in the early 19th century. Probably by Joseph Taylor of Birmingham. English silversmiths didn't mark small items(and have to pay duty on them) until required to by law in the early 1880s. They have tight blades. Sharp points and cut beautifully. There is no rust and t he silver on the scissors is also in excellent condition with no dents. Splits or repairs. The sheath is a nice snug fit on the scissors. Scissors cut paper without a problem. Scissors is homespun and was used by a master tailor for cutting thick woolen fabrics. Wonderful exhibit. Antique W.H. Morley and Sons Buttonhole Scissors 4 3/8-in Length. Germany, with adjustable-spacer screw ca 1920 This is an interesting pair of scissors used by seamstresses to make buttonholes. The scissors were made by W. H. Morley and Sons. Germany, and are the Clover Brand. They were brought to the U.S. around 1920. These scissors are in excellent condition. The spacer screw turns effortlessly and spreads the blades. It is the spacer that determines the length of the buttonhole. The top of the blades near the hinge is cut out so that a space remains open when the blades close. The blades are still fairly sharp. The steel shows very minor staining. But there is no rust, and the blades open and close smoothly. The scissors are a total of 4 1/2" in length. The blades are 1 3/4" from the tip to the hinge. I think the W.H. Antique scissors 12 1/2" in length Black in color. They are in good solid condition they could use a little tlc. These scissors are large and well made. T hey have a mark on them that resembles a volcano. Altogether a good sturdy pair of scissors.
