This is a vintage piece that has never been used and is in excellent condition. Done in two toned silver and gold. They are made in Italy and ar e hallmarke d as well. The early stork scissors were actually clamps used by midwives in the 19th century to tie off the umbilical cord after a woman gave birth. The original beaks were actually rounded instead of pointed(often people mistake them as grape shears for some reason) And the blades were dull and not for cutting. they have often been found in antique sewing baskets because midwives often ... moredid needlework and kept their medical tools on hand in their sewing baskets. Over time. The storks morphed into the scissors we know today. These scissors are like new and very sharp. The measure 4 5/8" long.Great for use or display in any period home. This is a lovely silver handled sewing tool by R.M.Marples and Son. It is a seam ripper. For undoing seams of dresses if a mistake was made or for remaking into another garment. It is clearly marked sterling silver on both sides. And fully hallmarked for London 1902, strangely the hallmark as a second letter an F. Vintage Gloria Celluloid Lace Making Tool Embroidery Hoop Needlework Thingy
An unusual celluloid lace making tool ~ embroidery hoop ~ needlework thingy. Not sure what it is. It came in a sewing basket so I am assuming it is some sort of needlework tool. It is stamped Gloria, there are a couple of other marks that I can't read. It measures about 2 7/8 x 3 7/8 inches, the shorter section is 2 3/8 x 3 inches; it appears to be in good vintage condition.
